Rebecca Romijn - Body Is Back in Business

Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment

rebecca romijn
Not very long ago, Rebecca Romijn said she felt like a beached whale. Husband Jerry O'Connell even suggested his wife was huge on national television. Something to do with the two babies she was carrying in her normally taut tummy. Well, one month after giving birth to daughters Dolly and Charlie, the body is back in business. I expected nothing less.

PopEater has the before and after photos of Rebecca and reports that Rebecca's Ben & Jerry's days are clearly over. Not an ounce of ice cream sticking to that post-baby bod, they say. No doubt. No scoop on what else Rebecca is doing to get her shape back but we'll be sure to spread the word when we get it.

Jennifer Lopez plays with her leftover baby belly

Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment

While Jennifer Lopez was pregnant, there were rumors that she was unhappy with, even embarrassed by, the amount of weight she gained. However, she's now proudly announcing that she put on 50 pounds while carrying her twins, and though she acknowledges that it's a lot, she feels she had good reason.

She told OK! Magazine, "I gained a good amount of weight, which I was focused on because twins can sometimes have a low birth weight. I gained 45-50 pounds, a lot for my frame, but for twins it's right on." She also said she was proud of how she looks after giving birth, flaws and all. Lopez even admitted playing with her "little leftover belly."

I've got to say that it's refreshing to see a celebrity who is happy with her post-pregnancy body, even enjoying it a little (or pretending she is). So many stars feel such pressure to drop right back down to a size six (or zero, Nicole Richie), and that's just not realistic for anyone who can't spend all day with trainers and personal chefs.

Male twins 'reduce fertility'

Diet & Weight Loss

If you're a women with a twin brother, your chances of conceiving may be reduced by 25%. According to researchers, this is due to the testosterone female twins are exposed to in the womb.

In addition to infertility, there are other interesting side effects -- most notably, that women with male twins seem to be "masculinized." The study found that these women are more likely to exhibit traits, attitudes and behaviors typically associated with men -- which, researchers believe, accounts for the fact that they are 15% less likely to marry than other women.

Of course, it works both ways, so the male twin is also exposed to estrogen -- and previous research has shown that certain physical characteristics, including facial features, can be altered by exposure to hormones of the opposite sex. However, unlike testosterone, both male and female fetuses have similar amounts of estrogen to begin with, so men are less likely to be affected.

Double pregnancy: Twins born to two women

Diet & Weight Loss, Nutrition & Supplements

Kristin over at ParentDish just posted about Twins born to different mothers. For 12 years a couple had undergone IVF treatments in an attempt to have another child. Because of a problem with her immune system, doctors determined that Amy Bernaba was unlikely to get pregnant again. They decided on an unusual option -- fertilized eggs were implanted into Mrs. Bernaba and a surrogate. Odds were against both women getting pregnant, but that was the result. Months later, two baby girls -- fraternal twins -- were born within a half-hour of one another.

Both pregnancies were straightforward and uncomplicated. Mrs. Bernaba delivered by C-section and Torry Keay, the surrogate mother, was induced so the girls were delivered at nearly the same time. The two women have become close friends during their pregnancies.
