Fitz's Cool Tools: Dannon Light & Fit 0% Plus Yogurt

This week I've been sampling Dannon's Light & Fit 0% Plus Yogurt, and I absolutely love it. Before I go any further though, let me tell you how I feel about yogurt. I like it, but only if I feel like I'm getting a high in calcium, low in sugar, legitimately fruit-filled snack. Now, there is always yogurt stacked up in my fridge, because I have two little children. But, rarely do I even open up a cup for myself. Not that I would ever buy my babies anything "bad"... cause I don't. But I regularly expect perfection of the things I put in my mouth. I'm simply not willing to waste 100 calories on a teeny cup of yogurt. I'd rather have two big pieces of fruit.

So! I was thrilled instantly by the calorie count on Dannon's new Light & Fit 0% Plus Yogurt. Each cup boasts only 50 or 60 calories, depending on the flavor. That I can do! The fruity varieties are also full of real fruit chunks. Fresh and healthy fruit chunks, not the icky stuff dumped in from a can. On top of all that, each flavor has proven to be delicious to both my children and me, and then a few of my personal training clients as well.

Before you go give Dannon's Light & Fit 0% Plus Yogurt a try, I encourage you to do a side-by-side comparison of it's nutritional content versus that of other yogurts. I did this a few days ago and couldn't find anything as good. This is the type of thing you want to put in your fridge if you're trying to lose weight. It's a great fix for your sweet tooth, while providing a decent amount of protein, calcium, vitamin D and other important nutrients.

Sarah Jessica Parker eats everything

Ready for another "I eat everything and don't gain any weight" story? Here's one, by Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker.

"I eat everything," the actress, 43, says. "I'm just an eater. If it's free, I honestly eat everything."

To prove her point, Parker shared with PEOPLE magazine a list of the foods she'd eaten in the 48 hours prior to her diet confession.

"Last night I had steak and some lamb shank," she said. "And I had some roasted chicken and some cassoulet and some profiteroles and some ice cream and some cheesecake."

Another example: On Monday, "I had two different tarts from Once Upon a Tart [in SoHo] and toast and a banana and a cup of coffee and a bagel with cream cheese," she said. Oh, yeah: "And a glass of fresh orange juice."

While she doesn't gather up many calories from alcohol -- "I'm just simply not really a drinker," she says -- Parker definitely enjoys her food.

So how does she stay so slim and trim? Predisposition probably, says Parker. And Pilates -- although she hasn't worked out in weeks. And running around after her 5-year-old son. Oh, and anxiety too, she says.

How often do you exercise? I eat seven days a week, and I exercise seven days a week!

What type of exercise do you do? Power walking, light weight training (for muscle tone), and yoga (for balance, flexibility, and occasionally turning my organs upside down). I think there's something really healthy about moving your organs around!

Get fit for your own red carpet

Celebrity trainer Gregory Joujon-Roche shares on MSNBC's The Fit List some techniques he'll be using to whip his clients into shape for Sunday's big Oscar extravagana. To prime yourself for your own red carpet event, you might want to borrow a few of these. You must first be a regular exerciser, though, says this trainer guy who likes to kick things into high gear. It's all about burning fat. Skip the Pilates, he says. It's time to sweat.

  • Aim for an hour of cardio every day. Make it intense and sustained cardio and keep your target heart rate to 85 percent of your max. To calculate a general target heart rate, take 220 minus your age and multiply by .85. If you don't have a heart rate monitor, count your pulse for 6 seconds and multiply that number by 10.

  • Exercise first thing in the morning and go for another round of cardio later in the day. This is called "split training" and is one of Joujon-Roche's secrets to dropping pounds.

  • Don't focus a lot on intense strength training if slim and trim is your goal. Stick with basic body-weight exercises such as crunches, planks, lunges, and squats. Keep your focus on aerobic activity. Keep the sweat flowing. If you do want to pump up a bit, do circuit training and skip the rest breaks so you keep your heart rate up. And do 50 push-ups every day (not necessarily all in a row).

  • Watch your calorie consumption. The wrong diet can easily undo the calorie burn from all that cardio. Eat veggies, veggies, and more veggies. Add some lean protein such as white fish or salmon.

  • Let your body restore. Every other day, take 30 minutes or longer to sit still by yourself with zero interruptions. Simply stretch, breathe, and be. Clear your mind and remind yourself of what an amazing person you are.

Suddenly Slimmer: It's a wrap

The stars are doing it and you could too -- slim down that is, and in only one hour's time. All it takes is a mineral body wrap with the power to trim six to 20 inches off your hot bod. Tyra is talking about it. Ellen is too. Here's what they're saying.

Tyra says it's amazing. She lost 9.2 inches overall after being wrapped from head to two, jumping on a trampoline, and then measuring up all her parts. She had not one problem getting into a dress that was once too snug and realized it wasn't that she was eating better -- it was the wrap. Ellen didn't reveal her grand total but she did say wrapping herself up isn't something she'd normally do, let alone show. But she did it. And you can see it here. Sexy, she calls it. Simply sexy. See what you think.

Suddenly Slimmer is the name of the Hollywood salon where these celebrities were wrapped up like mummies. With other locations across the country, this spot -- it guarantees you'll see results on your very first visit -- might strike your fancy. Give it a peek and see what you think.

Unless she's purposely packing on pounds for a movie role -- think Bridget Jones's Diary -- actress Renée Zellweger always looks fit and trim. No wonder she had crowds buzzing at the London premiere of Jerry Seinfeld's animated Bee Movie. Zellwood is the voice of character Vanessa, a quirky New York City Florist.

How does the 38-year-old stay so slim?

"I have a lifestyle," she says. "It involves keeping my sanity by going to the gym."

Zellweger reports that she doesn't miss her Bridget Jones curves, but she does have this to say: "I don't think my curves are absent. I think I'm doing alright, thank you very much."
