Daily Fit Tip: You don't need a professional to get a great pedicure
Fit Gadgets: ArchPort 'Stash Shoe'
If you run from your home, it can be a pain finding a place to carry a key. And, if you don't have a road ID of some sort, it's a good idea to carry your license. And what if you're going a long distance? Wouldn't you like to carry a couple of dollars with you so you could swing into the gas station at mile 8 and grab a cold water? There are a few solutions. You could find shorts with pockets (although I am not a fan of trying to keep things in my pockets while I run. Especially pointy, hard items, like keys -- ouch), or you could wear a sport belt (it's a fanny pack, regardless of what you call it). Still, for some of us, that's distracting -- we just want our shoes, shorts, and a shirt, and we want to hit the road.
Now, there's a shoe that lets you do just that. ArchPort has a range of athletic shoes (as well as sandals) that they call a "stash shoe." The sole of the shoe has a compartment in which you can fit a few necessities -- a key, credit card, some money, and possibly even your phone -- meaning you can head out the door without having to carry a bunch of extra stuff. Well, you'll be carrying it, but in your shoe and not having to hold on to anything.
The perfect shoe for you
Anchor For Your Ankle
The area around your ankle, called the anchor collar, should be heavily padded to prevent twists and blisters.
The Deal For Your Heel
Go for a snug fit around your heel and a high Achilles notch, the slight dip at the top of the shoe's heel, to support your foot and prevent it from sliding forward.
10 tasty ways to prepare fish
Diet & Weight Loss, Nutrition & Supplements
As far as protein is concerned, fish is one of the best sources you can find. Not only is it really versatile -- various types can be eaten at breakfast (salmon benedict), lunch (tuna salad) and dinner (just about anything!) -- as this handy recipe guide points out, it is also low in nasty saturated fats and full of helpful omega-3 fatty acids.
Fresh salmon is my personal favou\rite but I tend to always prepare it in the same way; soaked in a marinade and then barbequed. For those of you out there who enjoy fish but, like me, could use a few new suggestions on how to cook up a tasty filet, have a look at the article mentioned above.
Ten recipes are listed and include ideas for halibut, sole, salmon and monkfish prepared in a variety of ways such as broiled, steamed, grilled and poached. For those who decide to try a few out, feel free to let everyone know what you think.
