Havaianas FIT Sandal Giveaway

Reviews & Products

havaianas fit
Whether you're looking for a pair of sandals to wear to and from yoga, need the right shoes to pop on your feet after a tough run, or just want a comfy pair of flip flops that look stylish and don't do too much flipping (or flopping), I have the shoe for you. Havaianas is the biggest name in the flip flop game (if you have a pair, you know why), and the FIT is my newest favorite style.

Here's why: For one thing, it comes in a variety of colors, including a couple of metallics and a bright pink (I have the silver). What makes them really different is that they have an adjustable strap around the back of your ankle, so even though they're sleek and extremely lightweight (making them easy to store in your gym bag), they stay in place better than a traditional thong sandal.

Now, here's something to make your Monday a little brighter -- this week, you can enter to win one of five pairs of Havaianas FIT sandals that we'll be giving away here at "That's Fit." And that's not all! Our fashion-forward friends at "StyleList" blog are also giving away five pairs of Havaianas, so you have 10 total chances to win! And entering is easy:

  • To enter, leave a confirmed comment below telling us your favorite nail polish color for your toes -- once you get these shoes, you'll be showing them off!
  • The comment must be left before 5pm ET on Friday, April 10, 2009.
  • You may enter only once at "That's Fit" and once at "StyleList" blog.
  • Five winners will be selected in a random drawing.
  • Five winners will receive a pair of Havaianas FIT sandals in their choice of size, in either black or silver (valued at $30 each).
  • Open to legal residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia and Canada (excluding Quebec) who are 18 and older.
  • Click here for complete Official Rules. Winners will be notified by email, so make sure to check next week to find out if you've won!

Havaianas FIT - A Perfect Post-Workout Shoe

Reviews & Products

havaianas FIT sandal
Havaianas have long been the flip flop of choice for lots of people in the fashion community. Last week was Fashion Week in New York, and as soon as all those models and style scenesters were able to slip out of the stilettos, I guarantee you that a large percentage were sliding into a pair of Havaianas. I mean, truth be told, they're just little rubber flip flops, but they come in a bunch of styles and even more colors, so it's easy to be unique in comfort.

Now, if you're anything like me, you love getting out of your tennis shoes after a workout -- I love letting my toes stretch out after hitting the gym. And sure, any sandal will allow it, but really, all the cool gym kids are sporting the Havaianas Fit Sandal.

It's a great post-workout show because, for one thing, they're rubber, so you stick them on your sweaty feet or wear them in the locker room shower. Second, they have a strap that comes around the back of your heel, so they're not going to slide around, even when they're all wet. And you know how much of a pain it is when your calves are already tired and sore and you're having to hold your foot just right so your flip flop stays on. You know.

Paradise - Fitness, Fun and Sun at Sandals Resorts

Fitness, Reviews & Products

fitz skiingI'm writing to you from Jamaica, where I've been enjoying a week at several beautiful Sandals resorts. The sun is bright, the waves are warm, the healthy food is plentiful and the endless amount of free athletic activities mean I'm sure to leave this place at least a pound or more lighter than when I arrived. Am I trying to lose weight? No! Is it likely to happen, though? Probably!

Sandals is a chain of "couples only" resorts located in posh spots around the Caribbean. They're all inclusive too, which basically means you get to eat, drink and play as much as you want without shelling out extra dough. This all-inclusive thing removes lots of vacation-related stress, I assure you.

Most folks believe gaining at least five to 10 pounds per week of vacation is a rule, and my job is to convince you that it's not. Not if you come to a place like Sandals, anyway. As readers of this site, I know you're health conscious and eager to pursue and maintain your fitness levels wherever you go. Sandals allows you to do that.

Barefoot safety tips from the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons

Diet & Weight Loss, Nutrition & Supplements

There are few feelings that can compare with walking barefoot through the grass on a warm, summer day. I don't know about you, but as a kid I shunned shoes as much as possible -- as a matter of fact, I'm still barefoot a good deal of the time.

While it's fun to go around barefoot, it can also be dangerous. The American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons has released a series of barefoot safety tips that any sandal shunner should take the time to read. Check out our gallery for all the tips (and explanations, so you can sound wicked smart when you tell your barefoot friends what to do!).

Aside from being ugly, are calluses a problem?

Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness

Spring is approaching, and I hope your first thought is, "Yahoo! I can't wait to get outside and bust my butt doing all kinds of active, outdoorsy things!" However, some of you might also be thinking, "Oh, jeez. There's no way I can wear sandals right now -- my feet are all callused up from the miles I've put in on the treadmill this winter."

The fact is that many active men and women find themselves with serious calluses on their feet. And, while they're a sign that we've worked really hard, they're also unsightly. There are a couple schools of thought about calluses, one being that calluses are a natural shock absorber for your foot. Therefore, some athletes want to keep their calluses.

How to stop stinky, sweaty feet this summer

Diet & Weight Loss

Now that temperatures are creeping into the 80s and 90s, it's time to break out the summer footwear! Flip-flops, clogs, ballet flats -- you name it! If you can wear it without socks, it's fair game for the next three months.

While all these footwear options are great for convenience, they can make your feet sweat -- which means they'll stink.

You might have tried adding odor absorbers to your shoes, or using foot powder -- both of which can be effective. But, according to the Dr. Oz (that guy who's on Oprah all the time), the best cure for smelly feet is simply soaking them in a pot of brewed tea. (Yes, tea -- like Lipton's.) Do for 30 minutes a day, everyday for a week, and the tannic acid in the tea will reduce both sweating and smelling.

It seems a little strange, but it's better than making up an excuse every time someone asks: "What is that smell?"

Sandals tone your butt while you walk

Reviews & Products

They may not be the most attractive footwear on the planet, but FitFlop sandals offer a potentially unique benefit: a workout while you walk.

Of course, you always get a workout from walking, but the company claims that "The FitFlop's uniquely built multi-density midsole activates muscles midstep to help tone your thighs, your calves and your glutes. In fact, FitFlops are biomechanically engineered to absorb shock, lessen joint strain, and recreate the gait of barefoot walking - but with a powerful new built-in micro-wobbleboard workout-enhancing effect."

All that aside, if you really want to tone your legs and backside, there's plenty of exercises that'll get the job done more quickly than a pair of fancy sandals.

But, if you really don't want to work out, and don't mind having a pair of ugly shoes, maybe the FitFlop is for you.
