The Case For Staying In This Valentine's Day

Diet & Weight Loss

We're coming up on the most romantic day of the year, and while it's typical for most couples to book an expensive night out at a fine restaurant or a nice hotel, I think you should spend this Valentine's day at home. More specifically, spend it in the bedroom, if you get my drift (and how could you not?) Why? Because sex is really, really good for you.

Not only does it burn calories and improve your physical stamina, it helps improve your mood and increase your energy -- so it will actually help you slim down, and a meal at a fancy restaurant definitely won't do that. Plus recent research shows that it lowers your risk of so many health problems out there -- heart disease and cancer, to name a couple. The best part, given our current economic situation? Like Dita Von Teese says, It's totally, 100% free.

Dear Laura,

I have been married to a wonderful guy for twelve years. We have two children, ages 10 and 7, who take up a lot of my time. I am female, 36 years of age and my problem is, I just don't feel like being romantic with my husband any more. Here's a little bit about me: I could stand to lose about thirty pounds, I am always on a diet, stressed out and don't have time for myself either. I feel as if I have lost the old "me". I really could just take it or leave it when it comes to havng sex. Do you have any suggestions on how to reawaken the passion that used to be a part of me but is nowhere to be found now?

Signed,

Tired and Passionless

Dear Tired,

Not being in the "mood" for romance is a common problem with many couples. Although the frequency of how often couples engage in romantic actitivites varies from couple to couple, the important aspect is that both partners agree on how much is "enough" and "not enough". I have a few ideas for you that may boost your interest in having more "sexy time" with your hubby.

The key to looking younger could lie in your sex life

Fitness, Motivation

I saw a clip on some entertainment show last night on Joan Collins. She told the cameras that she's against plastic surgery and instead, her secret for looking young is having sex at least three times a week. What a coincidence, because I just came across this article that says the exact same thing.

That's not to say that you should start being promiscuous -- that holds a whole new set of problems, and the study really only connects beneficial results to couples in long-term, stable relationships. Still, if you're in a relationship, here's one less reason to use to 'I've got a headache' excuse, and it you don't have to spend an arm and a leg on fancy anti-aging creams with lofty promises.

What to eat for the best Valentine's Day ever

Motivation, Nutrition & Supplements

Looking to spice things up this Valentine's Day? A good place to start may be what you have for dinner, and despite what you may think it's not all about foods with aphrodisiac properties. It's also about avoiding foods that are going to do nothing but make you feel sleepy and sluggish, because feeling like a bloated whale is just not sexy.

Foods like salmon and other seafood are good choices for the Omega-3 fatty acids, and also things high in L-Arginine, like many kinds of nuts, garlic, and ginseng. Whatver what you decide to have, just be sure you don't overstuff yourself. Eating too much of anything can put a serious kink in your plans, romantic or otherwise!
