Do Skinny Girls Have More Sex?
Now here's a debate to get folks talking! A report recently taken by Lighter Life, a weight loss specialist, found that a high BMI correlates to a lack of sex, thus proving that thin women get it on more often.Specifically, the report stated that 60 percent of size 8 women (UK size 8, that is, which equates to a US size 4) did the deed once a week or more, whereas 50 percent of their slightly heavier counterparts (UK size 12, or US 8) got horizontal that often. And, of women who wore a size 24 (US 20), just a third were getting busy weekly.
So should we all start dieting to rev up our sex lives? Probably not, seeing as how just a couple of months ago, another report made waves by saying that overweight women were more sexually active. To be fair, that study looked at whether or not a woman had ever had sex, rather than how often.
This all got me thinking -- are you more likely to initiate sex with your partner when you're at your fittest? Or doesn't it matter to you? Let me know in the poll, or leave a comment below!
Will Donny Osmond Join the Cast of Dancing with the Stars
Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment
Last week, I had an exclusive interview with the one and only Donny Osmond. He's currently co hosting ABC's new show Rediscovered, and I thought it would be appropriate to ask what everyone else is probably wondering: "Are you planning on following Marie's footsteps and joining the cast of Dancing with the Stars?"
When Marie competed last year, Donny seemed to spend just as much time on the show throwing in his two cents. He obviously has rhythm and is no stranger to the stage, so why wouldn't he take a stab at that fancy disco ball trophy?
Maybe Donny is afraid of not getting as far in the competition as his sister did? Maybe he's worried about not doing those glittery costumes justice? He's asked this question every day, but until we spoke on the phone, I had never heard him give a definitive answer.
Celebrity Fitzness Report: Interview with ESPN's controversial? reporter Erin Andrews

Curious to know how celebrities squeeze fitness into their daily lives? Want to know the secrets of the stars? Bi-weekly our That's Fit fitness expert Fitz sits down with the celebs we want to know more about, and digs out their great and not-so-great methods to staying healthy.
If you've been in tune with national sporting news this week, you're probably aware of the big hub-bub created by Mike Nadel, a cranky reporter of the Peoria Journal Star, who wrote a venomous article about the both young and beautiful sideline reporter for ESPN, Erin Andrews. The "big news" and "big deal" was that Erin wore a dress that hit right above her knee (the outrage!), and her dress was not a turtleneck (hussy)! Nadel even noted that Erin went so far as to grope Alfonso Soriano's bicep at a gathering (she was just looking at his scar from a recent surgery).
Here is the truth about Erin. She's a college educated, ambitious, down-to-earth woman who started on a small network and proved her reporting worthy of a high profile on-air position at ESPN. She loves sports and is great at delivering the news we want to know about our favorite athletes, coaches and teams. Erin and I relaxed on a sunny afternoon in both of our alma mater's football stadium, the University of Florida's SWAMP, to chat. She's funny, sarcastic, and truly grateful to have the job she's dreamed of. She often travels with a band of brothers, the mostly male ESPN GameDay crew, and has had to learn the hard way that she really isn't a guy. Some fans with cell phone cameras taught her that.
Fitz: You are pretty great shape! What do you do?
Erin: Traveling for my job makes staying in shape really hard. We're on the road so much, and for me ... it's tough cause I'm one of the only girls on site. I'm really close with the other talent and the broadcasters, so we go out to eat all the time. Today we had hamburgers! Eating on the road is the worst way to eat. Not only that, but I'm surrounded by guys! When you're surrounded by men, you eat and drink like a guy.
Fitz: Not good news for a slender woman like you!
Fitness training with ESPN GameDay hosts

Last night, I spent an hour or so with the faces of college football. Now, of course these faces are no longer "in" college. But! They're the ones we turn to week after week to get the scoop on our favorite teams, athletes, and upsets. ESPN College GameDay. is coevering the Orange and Blue game, which is the University of Florida Gator Spring Scrimmage. I know...it's just a scrimmage! But...it is a big deal. A very big deal to the fans, and one of the great symbols that fall football is almost back again. Since I spend a lot of time near the University of Florida, I paid them a visit for some Celebrity Fitzness Report interviews.
When I arrived, sports analyst Kirk Herbstreit and side-line reporter Erin Andrews were working out, running up and down the bleachers in the Swamp (the Gator Stadium). Maybe they knew a fitness trainer would be popping in to check on them, but probably not. They were just wisely using their short break time to squeeze in a great workout. I was kind of sad not to have been in workout clothes myself though. It would have been fun to interview them on the go! Maybe next time they're in town we'll do that.

A few weeks ago I interviewed the TLC Trading Spaces host Paige Davis for my Celebrity Fitzness Report. Paige was open, honest, and hysterical. We blabbed for an hour and Oh Boy! did she fill it all up! One of the standard questions I ask my Celeb Fitzness guests is what their favorite vacation spot is, and whether or not they work out while on vacation. Paige gave me the best response I'd ever had to that question. Read on to find out what it is. Maybe you too, can incorporate her training into your other holiday activities?
**Actual excerpt from Celebrity Fitzness Report.interview with Paige Davis.
Fitz: Where is your favorite place to vacation?
Paige: Vegas. And, I know it's totally gag-me, but I love Disney World too!
20 states get "F" in school nutrition
Healthy Kids, Diet & Weight Loss, Nutrition & Supplements
I told you yesterday that schools are doing a better job of meeting the nutritional needs of its students. This is true -- some progress is definitely evident. Still, 20 states are failing when it comes to serving up healthy meals and snacks.
The Center for Science in the Public Interest, issuer of America's school nutrition report card, did not assign any perfect As. But Kentucky and Oregon were given an A-. Recipients of a B+ include Nevada, Alabama, Arkansas, California, Washington, and New Mexico. Those receiving a B are New Jersey, Arizona, and Tennessee. Six other states got a B-, one got a C+, three others and the District of Columbia were handed a C, and two more took home a C-. Seven states received Ds. Overall, only 11 states have nutrition plans that apply all day to all grade levels throughout school campuses.
Schools are required to comply with USDA guidelines for nutritional meals, but this agency has no authority over foods sold outside the cafeteria or outside of meal times. And while the USDA policy doesn't allow foods of minimal nutritional value (FMNV) to be sold in food service areas during meal times, these foods can be sold at any other time or place. FMNV include soft drinks, jellybeans, and popsicles -- anything with less than five percent of the Reference Daily Intake of eight different nutrients. This criteria does not eliminate junk foods like candy bars from the nation's cafeterias, though.
Landmark report says body fat causes cancer
Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment, Nutrition & Supplements
The evidence is stronger now than ever before and is detailed in a landmark report issued today by the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) and the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF). Evidence linking cancer with consumption of alcohol, red meat, and processed meat is also pretty darn convincing.
The report, available here, has been five years in the making and consists of data pulled together from nine independent teams of scientists from around the world and 21 international experts who analyzed more than 7,000 large-scale studies.
If you were unsure about the connection between cancer and diet before today, consider this: Body fat is convincingly linked to six different cancers -- colon, kidney, pancreas, adenocarcinoma of the esophagus and endometrium, and post-menopausal breast cancer. And this is just one striking point made in the 517-page report. There are 10 other issues outlined, which have led to these ten recommendations:
Celebrity Fitzness Report: Jeff Fatt of The Wiggles
Celebrities and Entertainment, Healthy Kids, Celebrity Fitzness Report, Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment, Nutrition & Supplements
Curious to know how celebrities squeeze fitness into their daily lives? Want to know the secrets of the stars? Bi-weekly our That's Fit fitness expert Fitz sits down with the celebs we want to know more about, and digs out their great and not-so-great methods to staying healthy.
Jeff Fatt is part of the Australian children's musical group The Wiggles. Just in case your've never heard of The Wiggles...they're the kiddie equivilent of The Beatles. They've sold a bazillion CD's and DVD's, and also have sold out yearly tours around the world. Their hit TV show appears daily on Playhouse Disney, and they're probably the healthiest thing Disney has going for them. The Wiggles sing about fruit salad, not cookies. They're shows and songs get kids up to move like a Crunch workout tape makes their Mom. Jeff is the Purple Wiggle and his silly shtick is that he loves to sleep. The kids go bonkers for it, especially mine. "Wake up Jeff!" is a classic of tomorrow.
Fitz: Tell me about your fitness routine.
Jeff: I don't really have any fitness routine, but would consider the concerts we do to be a routine in themselves. Apart from that, I really enjoy riding around on a bicycle. Not for the purpose of trying to get fitter, but just for the enjoyment of it. I will nearly always ride down to my local area to do the grocery shopping or for a meal. I also enjoy swimming.
Fitz: What's on your MP3 player?
Jeff: My iPod has just about my whole music collection. The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Booker T, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Ray Charles, Beach Boys, BB King, Jazz/Blues albums featuring the Hammond Organ and lots of stuff from the 60's. I'm not up with most of today's contemporary pop music.
Fitz: Since you're the Wiggle who loves to sleep, I have to ask. How much do you get per night? Are you really a napper?
Jeff: I'm a very light sleeper, particularly on the tour bus. I usually get 6-7 hours per night. At my age, it's not that easy to sleep much more than this, so therefore I am a day napper. This really suits my job!
Fitz: Do you have a fall-back healthy meal? Something you eat when trying to progress physically?
Jeff: I don't have a fall back healthy meal, because I'm generally a healthy eater.
Fitz: What's your favorite sin food?
Jeff: It used to be Krispy Kreme donuts, but now I don't even touch them (they're too evil)! I can't get over the amount of saturated fats and high fructose corn syrup (well that's what I believe is in them). Some of my favorite sin foods would be Pavlova (an Aussie desert), kettle chips and Lindy's cheesecake in NYC. In very small amounts of course!
Fitz: Your shows are so high energy! How do you get up for it, when you're not in the mood?
Jeff: You can usually get the extra push from the audience. Everyone is just so vibed that you can't help but be in the mood.
Fitz: How many push-ups can you do?
Jeff: I haven't really tried....hang on, I'll do it now......I just did 20!
Parents join the fight against bullies
Healthy Relationships, Diet & Weight Loss, Motivation, Nutrition & Supplements
Bullying is not a new thing but there has been increased attention in the U.S. since the Columbine shootings and if ignored, it can be devastating. There are different kinds of bullying such as hitting and pushing which is physical bullying, name calling or teasing which is verbal bullying, social exclusions or intimidation which is emotional bullying, and phone or computer messages that are insulting or cyber bullying. Verbal bullying is the most common although boys are more likely to experience physical bullying and girls are more likely to experience social isolation. Most bullying occurs where there is less adult supervision like school buses, cafeterias, hallways, bathrooms, locker rooms and playgrounds. Schools should have policies in place to deal with bullying and parents should listen closely to their children and report bullying. Some children however will not talk about it for fear of repercussions so some warning signs that parents should look for are unexplained cuts and bruising. Your child seems afraid to ride the bus and has lost interest in schoolwork or other activities at school. Your child may complain of headaches or stomach aches or other physical ailments and might have trouble sleeping or may experience bad dreams while sleeping. These signs are all worth exploring. Share your concerns with your child's teacher because they are the ones that can better observe how your child reacts with other children. If that conversation gets you no where, then make an appointment with the school principle or guidance counselor.
If your child is doing the bullying explain that bullying is a serious problem and that it will not be tolerated. Because bullying often stems from unhappiness or insecurity, try to find out if something is bothering your child. You may also have a greater impact if you express disappointment and not anger toward your child but be stern. Teach your child that they should respect all people no matter how different they are.
