We Love To Gawk At Fit Celebs: How Raven-Symone destresses
We Love To Gawk At Fit Celebs, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment, Motivation
There's no doubt -- life as an actress can be stressful. And Raven-Symone is the first to admit that. In fact, the actress even goes so far as to say, "I do have anger issues," but she doesn't like to yell at anybody, so she's found another way to get out her frustrations -- boxing. When she's angry at someone, Raven-Symone said, "I picture that person's face that I want to yell at and I hit it repeatedly [with my] mitt."
I've actually done the same thing on a number of occasions -- beating the hell out of a heavy bag somehow makes me feel better. However, running is a great stress reliever as well. What form of exercise helps you clear your head, or puts you in a good mood?
Happy drinking: waistline-friendly cocktails
Diet & Weight Loss, Nutrition & Supplements
Few things are more refreshing on a summer's day than a cold drink on a hot patio. But alcohol is normally a no-no for dieters. Simply put, they're full of empty calories, particularly if you fancy sweet cocktails.
eDiets recently put together a list of sweet-but-not-sinful summer cocktails that you can enjoy without packing on too many calories. On their list of healthy drinks:
What's your favorite summertime drink? Mine is a low-cal Mojito, made with one part white rum, two parts club soda, flavoured with lime, mint and just a touch of sweetener.
Kickboxing in preschool?

Yes! Yes! Kickboxing in preschool! Last week, I had a little visit with my daughter's preschool class; I brought in a child-sized heavy bag and some (adult-size) gloves. Since I'm the Fitzness trainer Mommy, and kickboxing is one of the most fun things I do and teach ... we thought it would be great to share the fun with her buddies.
We spent the first few minutes chatting about being healthy. Choosing healthy foods and exercising was easy to discuss with these little ones. They were desperate to tell me about their favorite fruits and the fun things they like to do. In fact, I heard in great detail about each child's favorite bike, scooter or jump rope. This of course, was fun to for me. We talked sports too, and I addressed kickboxing as such.
You Are What You Eat: Tea for two, for me, for you
Diet & Weight Loss, Reviews & Products, Nutrition & Supplements
Each week, we'll be offering original recipes and unique ways to use those Super Foods that pack nutritional power. After all, you are what you eat -- make it count! The benefits of tea are being touted everywhere. From the beneficial bacteria in Kombucha tea to green tea for heart health and cancer prevention to black tea for stress recovery, tea is in the health news.
We are all busy people, though, and aside from the very occasional relaxing tea after dinner, there is probably not a whole lot of tea drinking going on.
How can we get more tea into our diets?
Couple's boxing: Would you try it?
It may not appeal to everybody, but more and more couples are finding both fitness, fun, and a way to release stress in putting on some boxing gloves and letting loose on each other. Gyms across the country are offering co-ed boxing sessions. Obviously most of the time the guys hold back a little while the women are really able to let loose, but not always -- It depends on the couple. And don't think just because the husbands and boyfriends aren't hitting their hardest that they aren't getting a workout -- they still get to hone their ducking, dodging, and defense moves!
Would you consider doing something like this with your significant other? Do you think it's healthy or harmful to a relationship?
Summer Drinking: your best bets
So what refreshments can I quench my thirst with this summer? eDiets has these suggestions: Beer (light is best), wine, brewed ice tea, Blodoy Marys or anything mixed with soda water. How about the worst drinks? Pina Coladas, Mai Tais, screwdrivers, punch or anything made with tonic water (it has lots of calories -- did you know that?)
What's your favourite summer drink?
Innovative abdominal training

Yes, we all do crunches. Crunches, crunches and more crunches. I do them myself, and think very highly of them. But! If you'd like to change things up and work on sculpting your fancy torso in new way, give these skills a try.
-
Prone pikes. Place your feet on a stability ball or on some Gliding Disks, with your hands on the floor in push-up position. Back flat. Lift your hips straight up to the sky while keeping your legs straight. Once you've elevated your hips as high as they'll go ... lower back to push-up position. Repeat at least eight times. Add one rep each day you do these. Very advanced!

Front kicks. Stand with one foot in front of the other with feet shoulder width apart. Lift the front leg by the knee first, and follow to extend your foot up high. You'll engage your hip-flexors and rectus abdominus as you raise that leg up high. Kick within your comfortable range at first, but challenge yourself to kick higher along the way. The higher you lift your knee, the more you'll work your abs. Switch your stance and repeat on the other leg. Kick at least 20 times per leg. Beginner to advanced level exercise, depending on how high you kick.
