Andy Murray gets hot and sweaty off the court

Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment, Motivation

It's becoming much more well-known that athletes rely on a variety of workouts to stay in top shape -- we're always hearing about how they incorporate strength training and Pilates. Well, the workout that's gotten tennis champ Andy Murray into his best shape ever is Bikram yoga.

Murray has really seemed to come into his own recently, making it to the US Open final by beating Wimbledon champ Rafael Nadal. He lost to Roger Federer, but the performance still brought the 21-year-old to number four in the world -- not too shabby!

He attends Hot Bikram Yoga in Fulham, West London, where he's joined by Olympic athletes as well as professional soccer and tennis players. It makes sense that the athletic elite would be drawn to Bikram -- the founder of Hot Bikram Yoga explains that it's a 'holistic workout,' stretching participants mentally and physically, all while giving them a cardiovascular workout. Besides all that, it can help prevent and even treat injuries -- good news for those pro athletes! Have you ever tried Bikram?

Prince Charles seeks fitness advice from Welsh rugby team

We Love To Gawk At Fit Celebs, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

Prince Charles invited the Grand Slam winning Welsh rugby team to Clarence House (his London home) last week. He spoke to them a bit about their Grand Slam win, but according to player Shane Williams, he was more interested in talking about fitness and training. Williams said that the Prince of Wales was interested in their fitness coach, and that he works out himself quite a bit (perhaps he's using the gym that William built for Kate).

As much as Charles might have appreciated the fitness advice, it's almost certain the team appreciated the invitation to Clarence House more -- Coach Warren Gatland said, "It's a fantastic experience to be here, you can smell the history here." The team presented Charles with a framed Welsh rugby shirt at the end of the party.

The Welsh rugby team now has to shake off any ego their Grand Slam win and visit with the Prince might have given them as they head to South Africa to play for the Prince William Cup.

Can metal jewelry really ease arthritis?

Celebs & Entertainment, Reviews & Products, Alternative & Green Health

My great grandmother swore by them. Gleaming copper bangles adorned with turquoise or curvy designs etched into the metal often clattered on her wrist, reaching up toward her elbow. They decorated her wrinkled and freckled skin and distracted somewhat from her enlarged knuckles.

But she wasn't wearing them to complement her eclectic style. She suffered from arthritis in her hands and believed the metal jewelry eased the pain. I don't know that she ever opted for any other form of alternative therapies for pain management or popped pills for it. My Grandma Hall, as everyone referred to her, never was big on consuming much besides coffee and leftover chicken pilfered from a buffet restaurant and carried home in her Ziploc-lined purse.

Whether they really worked or generated a powerful placebo effect remains debatable. One might be better off improving nutrition and keeping up with an exercise regimen. Beyond that, there's a more modern version of the copper bangle for those whose style might be a bit more edgy. Or gender neutral.
