Sienna Miller - The Bizarre Reason You Won't Find Her At The Gym

Celebs & Entertainment

Sienna MillerBesides the occasional dance session, you won't find Sienna Miller working out -- she doesn't go to the gym, despite having an enviable figure. But curiously, she recently told reporters that the reason she doesn't pump iron at her local fitness centre is because she wants to age gracefully. "Recently I found myself thinking, I'm getting wrinkles and things are wobbling -- I should go to the gym'. Then I was like, 'f*** it'," said the petite star. "It's not where the focus should be right now ... I say, let people be young and then be old. I can't wait to be seen as a woman."

Hm. I must have missed the study that found that running on the treadmill was akin to getting a face lift. Call me crazy, but I wholeheartedly think that exercise helps you age more gracefully. You too?

Lisa Rinna - Beauty is About The Inside, Well, Kinda, Sorta, Maybe

Celebs & Entertainment

Lisa Rinna
It's not about the outside, says Lisa Rinna in this video as she assures us she's all set to say no to plastic surgery.

Gosh, we all want to fight the effects of aging, says this gal who looks mighty fine (well, the lips are a bit much but overall, she's a winner). "We all want the fountain of youth," says Lisa, who believes we all have a touch of insecurity inside us. We've just got learn (like she says she has) that it's about the inside. Yes, Lisa. You are right.

Coming to terms with her inner beauty has made Lisa a tougher cookie. She doesn't need surgery, she says with confidence, and then sneaks in that she might get just a little here and there. She still wants to look good, you know. Wait. Is this OK -- to win us over with her inspiring speech and then just weave in a loophole. No. I don't like that. Watch for yourself and see what you think. Be patient. Lisa talks about her new reality show before she gets all wishy-washy on the surgery thing.

What Celeb Body Part Makes Your Wish List?

Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

RihannaThis year, rather than asking for jewelry or a new set of golf clubs, lots of men and women are putting something else on their Christmas lists -- celebrity-inspired plastic surgery. They want Angelina Jolie's lips, Brad Pitt's nose, and, not surprisingly, Scarlett Johansson's breasts. Also showing up on wish lists this year are Megan Fox, Carrie Underwood, Halle Berry, and Zac Efron.

This got me thinking -- while I don't have any desire to switch cheekbones with Vanessa Hudgens (well, I'm not willing to go under the knife for them -- when it can happen through magic, we'll talk), I definitely wouldn't mind having Jessica Biel's abs, or Jennifer Garner's arms. And, who wouldn't love to have Heidi Klum's legs?

The great thing about wanting a celebrity body part like arms, abs, and legs, is that you have the power to get closer to that shape without medical intervention. You can bust out extra push-ups, go running and do squats, and be picky about what you eat to get those sexy, lean muscles. The only question remaining is this: Which fit celebrity's body do you want most? Check out the gallery for inspiration, then leave your answer in our poll. Don't see your pick? Leave a comment!

You Told Us ... Your Plastic Surgery Wish List

Your Turn

Last week, 26% of you said you would get plastic surgery in a heartbeat. So what's stopping you? For some, taking the time off from life to have invasive surgery is out of the question. For others, maybe it's a fear of needles or hospitals. But for most of you, price is the main deterrent. And even if you could scrape together the money, there may be more important ways to spend thousands of dollars than on vanity.

Still, I want to know what plastic surgery procedure you'd get if price wasn't an issue. Here's what you had to say:

  • 27% of you would opt to get lipo.
  • 15% want a tummy tuck.
  • 17% of you would get work on your breasts -- either enhanced or reduced.
  • 6% of you would get a facelift.

But, the majority of you -- 28% -- wouldn't get any surgery at all, even if it was free. Good for you -- it makes me happy to see that so many accept their bodies just the way they are. Thanks for sharing.

Freezing the Fat - The Non-Invasive Alternative to Lipo

Diet & Weight Loss

How would you like to get rid of your fat cells in a matter of a few hours? Sounds perfect, right? Well, you can. It's called liposuction, but it comes with painful side effects and risks of complications. But if lipo sounds like your kind of miracle cure, there's another procedure in the works that could potentially be even more successful at helping you lose the fat.

This procedure, developed by researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard, is called cryolipolysis, and it works by freezing fat cells and in turn breaking them down without damaging other tissue like skin. It's currently undergoing clinical trials, but results are promising.

Still, it's not without its critics. As one leading expert warns: "These kinds of treatments are never going to be an excuse for not getting round to dieting. Nor is it going to be a treatment for obesity."

You Told Us ... If You'd Get Plastic Surgery

Your Turn

We live in an age where everything is instant or close to it. You can even change your looks in an instant with plastic surgery. Want to get rid of that flab, or tighten up your face, or give your chest a lift? No problem ... surgery can help. Even you can do it. But the question is: Would you?

That's what I asked you last week, and it looks like the results are split down the middle:

  • 26 percent said you would get plastic surgery in a heartbeat, while,
  • 26 percent said there's no way you would get it done.
  • 5 percent of you said maybe.
  • 17 percent have already had it ... and would get it again, while
  • 3 percent of you said you've had it done, but wouldn't do it again.

Very interesting -- thanks for sharing!

If Price Wasn't an Issue, What Plastic Surgery Procedure Would You Get?

Your Turn

Here at That's Fit, we're constantly telling you what we think about things, but sometimes it's nice to know what you think. So from time to time, we'll ask you a question. Don't be afraid to speak up -- we love feedback.

Earlier this week, I asked you if you'd get plastic surgery if you had the chance. I suspect many of you will say yes, so I want to know more. What kind of procedure would you want to get? Considering that more than half of you don't like your midsection, I think I can predict your answer but still, I want to know ...

If you could get one plastic surgery procedure for free, what would it be?

Would You Consider Plastic Surgery?

Your Turn

Here at That's Fit, we're constantly telling you what we think about things, but sometimes it's nice to know what you think. So from time to time, we'll ask you a question. Don't be afraid to speak up -- we love feedback.

A little while ago, when I asked if you would change something about your body if given the chance, the answer was a resounding YES. Not no, or even maybe -- just yes. But how does one go about changing his or her body? A fairy godmother is one option. Good, old-fashioned hard work (read: diet and exercise) is another, more viable one, but even that involves a lot of effort for a very slow pay off. The other option, of course, is surgery. It's risky, painful and involves a difficult recovery, but it's fast and usually effective.

So this time around, I'm asking ...

Would you consider plastic surgery?

Over at Fit Celeb, they're talking about Hills star Heidi Montag. Apparently, Ms. Montag feels a lot more confident about her figure since having a boob job a few years ago. If that's what she needed to feel good about herself, then good for her, I guess. What about you?

Did Angelina slim down surgically?

Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment

We know there's a lot of pressure for new celebrity moms to slim down immediately after giving birth. A. Lot. Of. Pressure. And while everybody seems to have their own methods for quick weight-loss -- a special diet, home gym equipment, trainers, etc. -- it seems like they've all lost the weight somewhat naturally. That is, until now.

Star magazine's cover story is that Angelina Jolie got her body back after giving birth to twins by having a tummy tuck, or, as she (reportedly) prefers to call it a mommy tuck. Remember how the Jolie-Pitt clan was holed up in that French chateau for months after Knox and Vivienne were born? Star says it was so Angie could recover in private.

If she did have the surgery, I can't say that I blame her -- she knew her Changeling premiere was coming up in October, so of course she wanted to look amazing. Her fans expect nothing less. But, I do think it's unfortunate she felt she had to do it so quickly after giving birth. What do you think?

Would you have plastic surgery to banish back fat?

Diet & Weight Loss, Reviews & Products

While there's a lot of talk about love handles and muffin tops, there's another problem area that affects a significant percentage of women out there -- the back fat that bulges over your bra. Any shirt or sweater with the slightest bit of cling to it will show if off, and like that extra bit of belly fat that's so hard to get rid of, this is one of the last areas to tone up for many of us.

For women who are unable to beat this bulge, there's a new alternative -- plastic surgery. Twenty women have undergone a new "bra-line back lift" procedure to eliminate back fat, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). Seven of the patients were followed-up on, with "uniformly positive" results -- however, there's no word on the other 13 patients.

The procedure takes just an hour and, according to the ASPS, removes all "dreaded back fat rolls and lumps." Dreaded? Really? I mean, a little lumpiness around the bra line isn't my favorite thing, but I don't think it would bother me enough to go through plastic surgery over. How about you?

The Good, the Fat and the Hungry - My gastric bypass journey continues today

The Good, The Fat and The Hungry, Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Nutrition & Supplements

karla carringtonWelcome to the Good, the Fat and the Hungry. I'm Karla and I have been -- or am -- all those things. Here, I will share with you my lifelong struggle with my weight and I hope you'll follow along on with my determined attempt to lose nearly 40 pounds. I promise to tell you every win and setback along the way every Tuesday and Friday.

Milk may do a body good, but so does plastic surgery. By the time you read this, I will have undergone my first of two plastic surgeries to the remove excess skin that remained following my gastric bypass surgery. Today's surgery is abdominoplasty.

I am sure that I have a waist but even after losing more than 190 pounds, I still can't find it. I mean, I have a dip between the two huge rolls I've been left with, but no waist. I did see some lint in there one time and I think a nickel fell from between them -- but no waist.

I knew when I had the bypass that plastic surgery may be needed so this comes as no surprise. I've heard people say they wish they'd never had the bypass because they are now left with so much excess skin. Others don't seem to mind it at all. When I chose to have gastric bypass, I had no idea if I'd be able to have the plastic surgery done or not. It didn't matter then and still doesn't. I'm grateful every day that I chose to do it.

As a worship leader, I felt prohibited by the weight. Singing and moving around the stage was serious work. So I prayed. I asked God to free me to give Him more glory. He did that the first time with my surgery and will do it again today when I have the excess skin removed. Let's call this surgery step two in the journey. I may not know where this journey is headed but I know by faith and experience that this road -- a lighter, healthier road -- is where I'm supposed to be.

NOTE: Abdominoplasty is recommended for those whose skin and muscle cannot recover on their own as a result of significant weight loss, pregnancy, aging, heredity, or prior surgery. It is not a substitute for weight loss or an appropriate exercise program. For more information about this surgery, click here.

We Love To Gawk At Fit Celebs Weekly Round-Up: August 8, 2008

We Love To Gawk At Fit Celebs Weekly Roundup, Celebs & Entertainment

Some of us have trouble coughing up the dough for a gym membership or a session with a personal trainer, but that's not a problem for the rich and famous. Britney Spears reportedly spent an exorbitant amount to get her body back in shape. But, it seems to have worked ...

Ugly Betty's Becki Newton always looks flawless on the red carpet, favoring sleeveless gowns (doesn't everybody?). We've got her favorite trick for getting her arms red carpet-ready right here.

Eva Mendes was the star of a too-hot-for-TV ad for Calvin Klein's latest fragrance, Secret Obsession, and she shows a lot of skin. She made some changes to get her body ready to bare, and they're changes we could all make even if we don't have any plans to get naked.

Weighing in on male cosmetic surgery

HealthWatch, Obesity, Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment, Motivation

While skimming through some magazines at Barne's & Noble the other day, I stumbled upon a somewhat unnerving article in Men's Journal. Actually, I'm not sure unnerving is the right word. It makes my reaction sound too universal, as if everyone would agree with such a sentiment. Maybe interesting is a safer word choice to go with. Sure, interesting it is.

At any rate, the interesting article focused on the growing number of men who are undergoing cosmetic surgery to enhance their bodies. In particular, it highlighted a new procedure that removes the subcutaneous fat that exists just under the skin. In the past, this "critical inch" was considered dangerously impossible to remove, which is why most liposuction procedures involve the removal of more deeply-rooted adipose tissue. But now, according to the article, it was possible to not only remove the fat that covered muscle, but the appearance of more muscle could also be created by placing and shaping fat in certain places (think of building a six-pack like a sandcastle).

How a bra can prevent surgery

Diet & Weight Loss

Whoever decided that big breasts, impossibly tiny waists, and curvy hips was a good look for a woman must not have had these features themselves. Well-endowed women often deal with aching backs, shoulder pain, and other issues due to their breast size. In fact, breast reduction surgery is one of the top five cosmetic procedures.

According to doctors at a London hospital, many surgeries could be avoided if women wore a properly fitted bra. The London Free Hospital started a bra fitting clinic and, so far, 100% of the women have been wearing the wrong bra size. For women with large breasts, an improper fit can lead to the shoulders bearing the brunt of the weight instead of the chest. This can create severe back, neck, and/or shoulder pain.
