Victoria Silvestedt Says High Heels Make Her Slim
Swedish blonde bombshell Victoria Silvstedt has a figure most would die for -- both women and men. But staying slim is all in the job for the 34-year-old supermodel and Playboy pin-up -- she credits her tiny waist to wearing heels all day. "How I stay in shape? 12 hours a day in heels," she recently told reporters, adding, "I'm, literally moving all day long in heels. When I'm not working I do go to the gym and do my cardio but nothing beats the high-heel workout!"
Really? That's all it takes? I should have traded my flats for stillettos years ago. Except heels apparently ruin your back. Um, maybe comfy shoes and a regular cardio workout don't sound so bad after all.
Who's to blame for underweight girls? Dame Helen Mirren weighs in
Respected actress and former model Dame Helen Mirren has let her feelings be known on the issue to too-skinny girls in the fashion industry. Who's to blame? Women. Fueled by the fact that her slender niece was told she would have to lose weight if she expected to be taken on by a modelling agency, she says:
"It is women who run the magazines and women who editorialise and women who make the decisions. I think it is completely iniquitous to have incredibly skinny girls on the runway. A lot of the girls are horrifically thin and of course they have a problem. Mostly the fashion industry chooses to turn a blind eye ... The whole thing is based on fantasy. The catwalk clothes may look fabulous on the thin girl but they look ridiculous on a normal slim girl."
What do you think? Are men completely blameless when it comes to the size of women in the spotlight today? Are we women our own worst enemies? To find out more about what The Queen star has to say about the fashion industry, plastic surgery and more, click here.
Is the winner of this U.K. modelling show plus-sized?
According to this post on Diet Blog, the winner of a U.K. modeling show had trouble breaking into the fashion world after her 2006 win. The reason? At 5'11, 154 pounds and American size 10, Jen Hunter just might be too heavy for the modeling world. As such, she's joined an agency as a plus-sized model.
When asked about her size, she responded, "This is what a real woman should look like." I agree -- size 10 is not fat. Nonetheless, Hunter was reprimanded on the show by celerity judge Rachel Hunter for trying to prove that larger women can break into modeling. But I think Rachel is wrong to criticize -- if Jen was voted the winner of a modeling show by the British public, I think it's proof that the public would like to see more normal sizes on the runway. Don't you think?
