Kellie Pickler - The Country Star Drops 28 Pounds and Exclusively Tells That's Fit How
Celebrity Fitzness Report, Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment
Curious to know how celebrities squeeze fitness into their daily lives? Want to know the secrets of the stars? Bi-weekly our That's Fit fitness expert Fitz sits down with the celebs we want to know more about, and digs out their great and not-so-great methods to staying healthy.
Kellie Pickler has gone through a wicked physical transition of the past few years. When she auditioned to appear on American Idol, at five feet tall, she weighed in as a featherweight 100 pounds. But by the time the competition and Idol tour was over, she had packed on 28 pounds in less than a year. That's a lot of weight on a very little person. The weight gain made Kellie feel bad, but one fellow celebrity (whom most people love and adore) helped her see the light and lose the weight. Read on to hear her story.
Fitz: Your body has changed a ton since you landed in the spotlight. Tell me about that.
Kellie: Oh my goodness! My body has made a big transformation. When I auditioned for Idol I was only 100 pounds and kind of riding on "the young card." Although I exercised a ton, I think I stayed thin because I was ... young! But my eating habits on Idol and the during the tour became terrible. We were always eating fast food on the road and having late night munchies. I gained 28 pounds in less than a year!
Fitz: How'd you take it off?
Jennifer Connelly - Skin and Bones
Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment

Jennifer is wasting away. And I don't think it's because of any new movie role -- although she does appear with Keanu Reeves in The Day the Earth Stood Still. No, I think her thinness is probably just a sign of the Hollywood times. Skinny is cool. And now she's one of the popular kids.
Really, there is nothing cool about skin and bones. I'm all for a trim, toned, tight look but a too-big head on top of a skeletal frame is downright scary. It made my tummy turn a bit when I saw Jennifer's bony arms and pronounced knees teetering on her just-as-skinny stilettos. I admit: Sometimes, I'm jealous when I see a fit celeb. This time, though, I'm not envious. I'm worried.

Kelly Ripa gets ripped with these 6 moves
Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment
Kelly Ripa looks pretty darn great. Kelly's fit frame has graced the cover of not one, but two fitness magazines. (Though I don't understand why Shape magazine air-brushed Kelly's cute outie belly-button and made it an innie.)Now, you can try these six moves that help keep Kelly in shape:
- Triceps can-can. Like Kelly, this move is a little quirky and a lot of fun. But it definitely works your triceps, quads, and abs, too.
- Leg raise. You'll need a counter or tall chair for balance with this move, which works your butt and outer thighs.
- Thigh dancing. Definitely unusual, Kelly swears this move works her quads, butt, and abs. We've even got her on video doing this move.
- Pretzel. You'll need some balance and flexibility to do this move, which works your butt, thighs, and abs.
- Squat with ball squeeze. If, like Kelly Ripa, you're a parent, you probably have more than your fair share of sports balls around the house. Put one of them to use with this move that works your legs, butt, and inner thighs.
- Rolling crunch. Put a new twist on the standard crunch with this move.

Regis and Kelly feature staff slim down
Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment, Nutrition & Supplements
It's not always people who fail at weight loss, remarked one SELF editor on Tuesday's Regis and Kelly weigh-in show. In fact, 85 percent of those who lose weight gain it back. It's often the diets that fail. Find the right diet, the right exercise, the right commitment and change should be permanent -- right? Only time will tell for this crew.

The Middle Place: A story of life with cancer
Diet & Weight Loss, Reviews & Products
"The Middle Place is about calling home," writes Corrigan. "Instinctively. Even when all the paperwork -- a marriage license, a notarized deed, two birth certificates, and seven years of tax returns -- clearly indicates you're an adult, but all the same, there you are, clutching the phone and thanking God that you're still somebody's daughter."
Corrigan, now surviving stage 3 breast cancer, learned in the midst of treatment that her dad had cancer too, for the third time. Her story is about her own dance with cancer, her dad's repeated encounter with the disease, and how their lives unfold because of it all. It's a touching story and an enlightening one too. It will remind you to never lose sight of the day, for it may be one a few you have remaining.

Hulk Hogan shares New Year's resolutions
Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Motivation
While running and walking on the treadmill today at the gym, I tuned into Live with Regis and Kelly on my cardio theater TV. Well, it was Pat Sajak and Kelly this morning but the format was still the same -- chit-chat over coffee, a review of a few newsy items, spinning of the prize wheel, and then a few guests. The show kept me entertained, passed the time while I pounded away on the rubber beneath my feet, and actually gave me something to think about. One of today's guests was Hulk Hogan, semi-retired professional wrestler, actor, and sometimes rock bassist who starred on his own VH1 reality show Hogan Knows Best and is the new host of NBC's American Gladiators.
Anyone who knows what Hulk Hogan looks like knows the man is bursting at the seams with muscle. This is exactly what prompted host Kelly, who admitted she was admiring his biceps, to ask this giant person about his New Year's resolutions. Did he resolve to go to the gym more? Or less? Nope on both counts, said Hulk Hogan, who shared he spends two hours every day in the gym. His resolutions this year are (1) To stay positive and (2) To be happy.
I like these resolutions. I just might adopt them as guiding principles for the year. For each scenario that faces me, I think I'll strive for the most positive attitude possible. And I'll only choose courses of action that truly make me happy. Now I plan to go to my fitness center more too, unlike Hulk Hogan who doesn't really need any more gym time, but as for my non-specific resolutions, I say Cheers! to being both positive and happy.
Would you pose in your underwear?

So that brought me to this thought. I imagine the people who commented do not like the look of thin and that maybe they loved bigger bodies. Kelly is on the cover of Fitness magazine in a bikini. I wondered how many other people would do that. So this topic is not about Kelly; it's about you. Would you pose in your under things or a bikini for the world to see? I would. Would you?
Kelly Ripa says to use tight jeans as a pushup bra for your booty
Womens Health, Celebrities and Entertainment, Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment, Men's Health
I just finished reading a feature on Kelly Ripa in Fitness magazine. The focus of the article is on Kelly's new fit body and her favorite workouts. But of course, when it comes to Ripa, we can always expect the unexpected.
Kelly says she wears jeans that are very tight in the butt, because they give her some extra lift. She wants her jeans to smoosh her cheeks together and raise em up. I've never actually thought about jeans that way, but the idea has the capacity to make sense.
Just be careful when you're trying on denim that the jeans squish you up, and don't smoosh you down. Flat fannies are not so hot!

No! No! No! They're not! What the hell is the weird obsession and constant speculation about these women and others in Hollywood? In a waiting room yesterday, I thumbed through about 15 magazines who all claimed endless knowledge from "insiders" who knew all sorts of special nonsense about each celebrity. Argh!
I know this B.S. sells magazines, but isn't it annoying? I like magazines, cause I enjoy looking at all the pretty dresses my job as a fitness trainer will never allow me to wear. Wouldn't I look strange sauntering in for a kickboxing session with a slinky Versace number on and sky high stilettos? Yes. I would. But I hate the fact that those pretty pictures have to be intermixed with the mean stuff.
For example. I do celeb interviews and report on the information exchanged between my guest and I. It's not that hard. I never have to resort to making things up. Never! And then the poor starlets who eat a sandwich, and then have to face photos of themselves with a teeny tiny belly bulge claiming they're knocked up for months? Who on this earth is not familiar with a pizza baby? You know. You eat too much pizza, and all of a sudden you look and feel just a little preggers. Guys get it all the time!

I recently went back to work with Anthony Field of The Wiggles, and finally have his wild new training tactics on film for the world to see. Think you're doing your best at the gym? Think adding more plates to the end of that bar you bench with is the toughest thing you can do? Think again!
I've trained with tons of athletes from around the world and have never seen any one of them (outside Cirque Du Soleil) perform such a show of pure strength as part of their regular training routine. Thanks to my first encounter with Anthony this summer ...my gym is now full of men, women and children of all ages Getting Strong like this Wiggle said we should.
Rhythm Nation tops workout song list
Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment
Ripa was thrilled to announce this fitness flash: Rhythm Nation, one of Jackson's smash hits, is reportedly the most listened-to song by those who rock while working out. This information comes courtesy of Fitness Magazine, said Ripa, who happens to have this very song on her iPod. When no one is watching her on the treadmill, she told her audience, she breaks into a total Rhythm Nation dance routine. On the treadmill? Yep, that's what she said.
What's your favorite workout song? And tell us -- do you bust a few moves when no one is looking?
