Katherine Heigl Wants Nicole Richie's Body

Who does Katherine Heigl, one of the most gorgeous stars in Hollywood, wish she looked like? Nicole Ritchie, of all people. The perfectly-proportioned star recently admitted that when it comes to her size, she secretly wishes she were closer to the scary-skinny end of the scale, rather than the beautifully-curvy position she currently occupies. "My own insecurity makes me want to look like Nicole Richie," says Heigl. But she's 5 feet 9 inches tall and says she has "substantial breasts, hips and everything else, so it's never going to happen," even though I think most of us would agree that Heigl's figure is the one we'd rather have.

But the "Grey's Anatomy" actress admits that she doesn't have what it takes to diet like Richie. "What stops me is that I want young girls to look at me and think: 'That's healthy, that's what I want - she's on television and she looks like me,'" she says, adding that she hates dieting and is obsessed with food. Plus, she keeps red-carpet ready by working out with celeb trainer Harley Pasternak, and she even does ab exercises while she gets manicures.

I'm glad she takes her status as a role model seriously -- but by admitting she wishes she were thinner, do you think she's a healthy one?

One celeb who's definitely a good role model is Michelle Obama -- she's in the best shape of her life!

Rebecca Romijn feels like a beached whale

Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment

Martha tells us that some women, like Grey's Anantomy star Katherine Heigl, consider not having babies because they don't want to gain weight. Not the case for others, like Ugly Betty mom-to-be Rebecca Romijn who has taken the plunge -- two baby girls are on the way -- and has, yes, definitely gained some weight and is feeling, well, something like a beached whale.

Says Rebecca for Page Six magazine (online this Monday): "I can't move anymore... I'm a beached whale! I have not been without a bra this entire pregnancy. I refuse. I'm not taking any chances. I'm determined to keep the puppies up!"

Weight gain is hard -- even if it for a blessed occasion like birthing a baby. But you know what? It's so worth it, especially when the weight melts away (it's possible with the right amount of diet and exercise, you know?) and the babies stick around for the long and happy haul. I think Rebecca will agree -- and for some reason, I get the feeling she'll whip that body (which doesn't happen to look much like a whale to me) right back into shape, just like these celebrities did.

Wanna-be moms too worried about their figure to give birth?

Diet & Weight Loss, Motivation

Recently, TV star Katherine Heigl raised a few eyebrows when she said, "I'm finished with the whole idea of having children of my own. It doesn't seem like any fun. I don't think it's necessary to go through all that." Isn't pregnancy supposed to be a gift? A miracle? More meaningful than just some tedious inconvenience?

But Heigel is not alone -- according to The Daily Mail, many women are choosing adoption over pregnancy. The reasons are many but a couple are especially common: To keep their career on track and maintain their figure. Says one adoptive mother: "I am quite slim, so yes, a lot of it is pure vanity. I don't like the thought of changing my body for a child. Giving birth and the idea of all that pain filled me with dread."

Is not giving birth because of vanity a selfish move? Or a practical one? In the end, it all comes down to personal choice, but I'm curious -- what do you think?

How does Dancing With the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba stay so fit? Well, obviously dance plays some role, but she credits her upbringing with her healthy diet.

Friday Night Lights star Minka Kelly loves her curves, and she's not alone. Charlize Theron has also made it known that she thinks her curves belong right where they are, and that they make her feel "pretty hot."

Joining the "I love my curves" club is recent mama Christina Aguilera, who has worked hard to get her tummy flat and toned, but admits she's "okay with the booty and the boobs."

Katherine Heigl's beach body might start with good genetics, but the girl works hard to keep her torso long and strong. Her trainer, Missy Beaver, shared some of her secrets with People magazine, and let me tell you -- she's not doing anything fancy that you can't do, too!

Katherine uses kettleballs for 20 minutes, two or three times weekly which gives her long, lean muscles. Her trainer also suggests doing dumbbell back rows and tricep extensions to "help with improving your posture, lifting your boobs up."

Obviously she does a lot more than that, but if you haven't tried those exercises before, there's no time like the present to give it a try. Because, really, who couldn't use a free boob lift?
