We Love To Gawk At Fit Celebs: Jennifer Lopez is ready to tri
Healthy Events, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment
We learned last month that Jennifer Lopez was training for a triathlon, and now she's sharing more details with Self magazine. As a matter of fact, the diva herself invited Self editor-in-chief Lucy Danziger to come out and train with her and her trainer, Gunnar Peterson.
Lopez is participating in the Nautica Malibu Triathlon on September 14 and is using the race to raise money for Children's Hospital Los Angeles. The race starts with a half mile ocean swim, goes on to an 18 mile out and back bike ride, and ends with a four mile run. And the new mom is ready, spending an hour and a half each day working out in her home gym.
She said she decided to do a triathlon after watching one on TV while eight months pregnant, and credits her high school track background with her "Can do!" attitude. She told Self, "The team was a big part of my life back then and taught me so many things. When I look back on my life and what I'm able to do, it's partly because of that early training. It taught me discipline, how to be committed, about striving to win, stamina, all that good stuff."
Check out the video above to see part of the workout (and Lopez's flat and fabulous abs). And, if you're interested in supporting her cause, you can donate here.

We Love To Gawk At Fit Celebs Weekly Round-up: May 2, 2008
We Love To Gawk At Fit Celebs Weekly Roundup
This has been a Gwyneth Paltrow-heavy week. First of all, the mother of two spoke up about her battle with post-partum depression after the birth of her second child, son Moses. She said, "I felt really out of my body ... really down ... really pessimistic." She thinks part of the problem was that she stopped taking time for herself and neglected her usual wellness treatments, such as acupuncture and massage. And, as long as we're talking about Gwynnie and gawking, there's no WAY I'm going to leave out the wardrobe she's been sporting while stumping for her new flick, Iron Man. First of all, there have been shoes -- shoes with heels of half a foot or so. And then the dresses! Gwyneth has been rocking the shortest minidresses imaginable, mostly with great success. She certainly has the body to pull it off, although I'm firmly of the opinion that nobody should wear a skirt so short that there's serious risk of a panty-flash, no matter how fab the legs are.
In other Gwyneth news, her trainer (who she says Madonna stole) gave USWeekly a diet and exercise program designed to allow participants to lose three to five pounds a week. It doesn't look too healthy to me, so I think I'll stick with a more moderate plan and be happy to drop just a pound or two weekly.
Jennifer Lopez plays with her leftover baby belly
Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment
While Jennifer Lopez was pregnant, there were rumors that she was unhappy with, even embarrassed by, the amount of weight she gained. However, she's now proudly announcing that she put on 50 pounds while carrying her twins, and though she acknowledges that it's a lot, she feels she had good reason. She told OK! Magazine, "I gained a good amount of weight, which I was focused on because twins can sometimes have a low birth weight. I gained 45-50 pounds, a lot for my frame, but for twins it's right on." She also said she was proud of how she looks after giving birth, flaws and all. Lopez even admitted playing with her "little leftover belly."
I've got to say that it's refreshing to see a celebrity who is happy with her post-pregnancy body, even enjoying it a little (or pretending she is). So many stars feel such pressure to drop right back down to a size six (or zero, Nicole Richie), and that's just not realistic for anyone who can't spend all day with trainers and personal chefs.
Jennifer Lopez looking 'real' in a bikini
So celebrities look great (most of them, anyway), and despite ourselves we love it. It's still nice to see the real thing sometimes, but in today's world of airbrushing and photoshop that makes them look impossibly good, and tabloids snatching up every horror shot that makes them look impossibly bad, we rarely get that chance.Well here's one of those chances. The Skinny Website has some photos of Jennifer Lopez on the beach in a bikini with her husband and she looks very real. She doesn't look perfect, but she's beautiful all the same. I think it's great.
