He's sculpted the world's most beautiful A-list stars -- from Halle Berry, John Mayer and Eva Mendez to Jessica Simpson, Alicia Keyes and Orlando Bloom -- and his practical, can-do approach to nutrition and fitness transforms lives one at a time.

Canadian-native Harley Pasternak now resides full-time in Los Angeles after nearly 10 years of traveling on movie sets with various A-list celebs. With degrees in exercise physiology and expertise in nutrition and kinesiology, Pasternak is arguably the world's most sought-after personal trainer. Pasternak says his anyone-can-do exercise approach and nutrition strategies will help you maintain a lean body weight, tackle excess body fat and -- most important -- keep you inspired to train consistently for life.

Pasternak has opened a very private training studio for his clients in West Hollywood, far from the prying eyes of the paparazzi, and he has finished writing his third health and fitness book called "Five Factor Fitness: The World Diet" (Random House 2010), where he explores the 10 healthiest countries in the world and how we Americans can adopt some of their optimal eating practices.

That's Fit: Do you still motivate and inspire other huge stars on the sets of their films?

Harley Pasternak: Absolutely. Right now, the Five Factor team of trainers and nutritionists are working on eight or nine films around the world. We go in and talk to craft services about the five lean and balanced meals our clients require on a daily basis, and we design a portable gym for many clients. I will actually stock their trailers with healthy snacks while my team travels with them -- we're all very busy. I took a lot of time to not only write this last book on the healthiest eating habits around the world, but I also feel very strongly that anyone -- not only celebrities -- can lose weight, boost energy and get fit on my simple anyone-can-do program.

Hot celebrities over 40 (and how they impact the rest of us)

Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

Shows like Desperate Housewives and Sex and the City have given the world a new way to look at aging. Turning 40 or 50 no longer necessarily means a party with an "Over the Hill" theme -- older men and women can be just as sexy as their much-younger counterparts. And that's a good thing. Right?

Well, yes and no. It's fantastic that we are shedding our stereotypes regarding middle-age, for men as well as for women. Most men would agree that Halle Berry and Heather Locklear are just as sexy as any 20-year-old actress, and men over 40 include George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Pierce Brosnan -- 'nuf said.

However, eating disorders for adult women are on the rise. We see celebrities like Teri Hatcher, Demi Moore, and Kim Cattrall and while we know that the way they look simply isn't attainable for everyone, it doesn't mean many women don't try by resorting to anorexia or bulimia. Check out our gallery of super sexy celebrities who've celebrated 40 or more birthdays, but use these as inspiration, not for comparison. And, head over to AOL Body to see who they think is over 40 and still smokin' hot!

We Love To Gawk At Fit Celebs Weekly Round-up: May 16, 2008

We Love To Gawk At Fit Celebs Weekly Roundup, Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment, Nutrition & Supplements

Celebrity moms Cate Blanchett and Halle Berry are out and about and looking amazing. Halle dished up the details on what she's doing to get her body back, but Cate, as usual, hasn't really made mention. Cate looked like she was right back to her pre-baby svelte figure this week at the Cannes Film Festival, and it's only been four weeks since she gave birth to her newest son. Do you think it's natural that her body bounced back so quickly, or does it have more to do with the pressure a 39-year-old actress faces in Hollywood?

Valerie Bertinelli, who dropped weight last year alongside Kirstie Alley with Jenny Craig, is working hard to maintain the slim figure she achieved, but she's not complaining about it. She's continuing to follow the good habits that helped her lose weight, which means no snacking in front of the television and making sure she gets in 10,000 steps each day. With her healthy new figure came another bonus -- a rediscovery of her love of being in the water. Valerie has gotten back into watersports, like surfing. It's great to see her maintaining her weight and living a healthful life!

Sarah Ferguson admits that she continues to have negative body image issues on a daily basis, saying, "I think I'm fat, ugly, and disgusting -- that I'm unworthy and nobody likes me." The formal royal has an interesting way of dealing with these problems -- after her daily morning workout, she takes an ice bath and feels "invigorated" for the rest of the day. Hey, whatever works, right?

How Halle Berry got her body back after baby

Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

Halle Berry was seen this weekend at the Revlon Run/Walk for Women in Los Angeles (possibly with an engagement ring on her all-important finger), and let me tell you -- she looked fantastic. And the fact that she gave birth to her daughter, Nahla Ariela, just about a month ago makes her fabulous body just that much more amazing.

New moms in the real world shouldn't hold themselves to Halle's standards -- I mean, she had a ridiculously amazing figure before the baby. However, she dished about her post-pregnancy fitness routine to People, and I've got the scoop for you!

She's been working out five days a week for an hour with her trainer, Ramona Braganza. She implements three cardio segments using the elliptical, stairs, and kickboxing, as well as some strength-training that works her abs and legs.

Halle Berry's miracle type-1 "cure" comes under scrutiny

Celebrities and Entertainment, Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment

Actress Halle Berry, who is probably best known for her Oscar-winning performance in the film "Monster's Ball," has long been suspected of stretching the truth about her diabetes diagnosis. A self-proclaimed type 1 diabetic -- a form of the disease that involves the complete cessation of insulin production by the pancreas, regardless of diet or any other external factor -- Halle Berry claims to have done something that medical doctors, research scientists, and entire health organizations have not been able to do: Cure It.

If I seem a bit snarky, it's for good reason. I'm engaged to be married to a wonderful young woman, who also happens to be a type-1 diabetic herself. Not only is she an active member of the diabetes support community, but she is also quite adept at managing her chronic illness. However, regardless of how perfect her diet is or can be, how physically active she is or can be, or what holistic health practices she follows or can follow, the fact remains that none of these measures will cause her pancreas to produce insulin. This also holds true for the estimated 1.5 million other Americans who are afflicted with type-1 diabetes, Halle Berry certainly notwithstanding.

Celeb diet philosophies: Which do you agree with most?

Celebs & Entertainment

In this celeb-obsessed world,we're always interest to know what celebrities think of everything, from politics to war to other celebrities and everything in between. So it's no surprised that we're also keen to know they're eating and exercise habits, especially since they all seem to be so svelte.

So when I saw this quiz from Fit Sugar asking which celebrity diet philosophy I agree with, I had to see which celeb I identified with most when it comes to healthy living. Turns out its Scarlett Johansson, who says, "I'm not really the type of girl who goes jogging at 6 a.m., but I eat well and I walk a lot." I also agree with Gwen Stefani, who says "It's simple math: You put this much food in, you burn that much working out."

Which celebrity do you identify with?
