No anti-aging secret for Meredith Vieira

Celebs & Entertainment

About her anti-aging secret, 54-year-old Meredith Vieira says: "I don't have one." She does have good people, though -- none of whom are plastic surgeons.

One good person is NBC President Jeff Zucker, who hired Vieira as Today co-host. Passing up for the job folks in their 20s and 30s, Zucker told Vieira, who has been in front of a camera for nearly two decades: "I want someone with experience. I'm not looking for a number, I'm looking for a human being."

"I give him a lot of credit [for] that," says Vieira, who joins the ranks of women like Jamie Lee Curtis who take aging as it comes and accept it with simple grace. Vieira's kids help the cause. They don't care about her celebrity or anyone else's obsession with it, she says.

Denise Richards aims to take off a few

Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment

Denise Richards, star of her own reality show It's Complicated, says she's put on a few pounds. You might not be able to tell. I certainly can't. But the high-profile actress, mom, and ex of Charlie Sheen wants to drop a few before heading to Hawaii with her sister and a few friends. Problem is, she's nervous about fitting into a swim suit. And she's worried the paparazzi will snap photos and call her a fat a**. What' a girl to do?

Take drastic measures, that's what.

According to a celebrity gossip TV show (can't remember which one), Richards is embracing the latest diet cleanse sweeping Hollywood. It's all about lemons, cayenne pepper, and maple syrup. Called the Master Cleanse or Lemonade Diet, this technique for losing weight is essentially a 10-day fast. Doesn't sound so fun to me. To Richards either, who says she might rather be fat than drink this stuff. Will she do it? Tune in to That's Complicated on E! tomorrow at 10 PM, EST to find out. In the meantime, check out this video, all about the Master Cleanse from a dietitian's point of view.

Olympic swimmer diagnosed with cancer

Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Men's Health

Those who work their butts off physically often enjoy a bit of added protection against cancer. And sometimes they don't. Just ask Olympic swimmer Eric Shanteau, who was just recently diagnosed with testicular cancer.

Shanteau, 24, won't let cancer stop him from going for Gold in the 200-meter breaststroke -- he plans to delay his surgery until after he competes. Don't worry. The swimmer will be closely monitored and will drop out of the Olympics should his cancer appear to spread. "By no means am I being stupid about this," says Shanteau, who has high hopes for a successful recovery.

According to the American Cancer Society, testicular cancer, one of the most curable forms of cancer in the United States, will strike about 8,090 U.S. men in 2008. Because treatment is so successful, the risk of dying from this cancer is very low: about 1 in 5,000.

We Love To Gawk At Fit Celebs Weekly Round-up: July 11, 2008

We Love To Gawk At Fit Celebs Weekly Roundup, Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment, Nutrition & Supplements

Jessica Biel is known for her sexy, athletic body, and as you can probably guess, she didn't get it by sitting around playing video games. Growing up, her family didn't play video games or watch movies -- instead, they played soccer, basketball, and gymnastics outside. And her mom always made her feel great about her body, which has helped Jessica remain confident as a Hollywood starlet. I'd be pretty confident with those rock hard abs, too.

Hilary Duff is looking healthy and gorgeous these days, and she owes part of that to her fitness routine, which includes Pilates. She's feeling good about her body and her health, and therefore, so am I -- her smile can cheer just about anybody up!

Country crooner Trisha Yearwood does more than just sing -- she's the author of a cookbook, and she recently shared some kitchen secrets with Health.com. Wonder how she gets her stepdaughters to eat fresh fruit? Find out here!
