Sex and the City stars weren't asked to lose weight
Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment
If you're a Sex and the City fan, then you're probably looking forward to May 30th, when the movie version of the show hits the big screen. Kristin Davis recently spoke with Us magazine and shared this healthy little tidbit about the four female stars: Not one of them was asked to lose weight for the movie. In an era of stick thin models and starvation diets, I think it's refreshing to see four beautiful women accepted for who they are. Davis claims that none of the four are into uber-low calorie diets and that she knows she's "never going to be the thinnest actress in town." (I think she's gorgeous.)

Toni Braxton hospitalized with chest pains
Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment
Award-wining singer-songwriter Toni Braxton was admitted to the hospital today with chest pains. Braxton, who has won six Grammy's and is perhaps most famous for her number one hit "Un-break My Heart," does five shows a week at the Flamingo in Las Vegas. She also has a heart condition known as pericarditis, as well as hypertension. She is expected to be released later today.Pericarditis is an inflammation of the sac-like membrane that surrounds the heart. Chest pain is common, and though mild cases may improve without treatment, medication or, occasionally, surgery is required. Though Tuesday's show has been canceled, it sounds like Braxton will be right back to work following her recovery.
Think about your body, really think about it
Celebrities and Entertainment, Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment
You may think a health crisis will never happen to you, especially if you consider yourself pretty healthy. It can happen, though. I didn't think cancer would ever strike me. But it did. It got Hoda Kotb too. The co-anchor of the fourth hour of Today, correspondent for Dateline NBC, and host of the weekly syndicated series Your Total Health says she was sure she wouldn't ever get cancer.
Three breast lumps and one mastectomy prove that Kotb did in fact get the disease. It was shocking, she says, since she didn't ever give much thought to her body before her diagnosis.
Now, Kotb knows her body. And here' s what she thinks you should know about yours.
- Think about your body. Care for it. Eat well. Exercise well. Report any and all symptoms to a physician. Get screened. Be proactive.
- "Forward." That's the work Kotb kept repeating to propel herself through each cancer day. Just get through it, she'd tell herself. Good everyday advice, I think. Having trouble eating healthy? Just move forward and get through it. Need to stick to a better exercise routine? Forward. Need to get through a stressful time. Forward.
- Cancer survivors know how to live. Think about how many times we say, "I'm going to change. I'm going to be different" yet make no change at all -- think in terms of stress, diet, and fitness. Cancer survivors, though. They want to live differently. And usually, they make good on their wishes. Call it clarity. See if you can embrace it. Before cancer forces you to do so.
