Your healthy weight
There's the weight you are, the weight you want to be, and the weight you should be. For some people, these three align perfectly. For others, there may be a bit of a disparity from one scale reading to the next.The National Institute of Health reports that more than half of Americans weigh more than they should. Being overweight is not just a cosmetic problem, it is a health problem. It increases your risk for type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, arthritis and some types of cancer.
That's why it's so important to know your healthy weight; in other words, the weight you should be. Remember, everyone's body is different, so what may be a healthy weight for one person may not be healthy for someone else -- even if it's what you want to weigh.
Fruits and vegetables are among the most nutritious foods you can eat, which is why they are so close to the wide base of the food pyramid (and, arguably, should be at the very bottom in place of breads and cereals).
