When a Hollywood celeb has to get slim and sculpted in a jiffy, she hires a slew of professionals to whip her into shape. The rest of us, unfortunately, don't have that luxury -- until now. We asked celebrity trainer Gregory Joujon-Roche, and his Los Angeles-based Holistic Fitness team of nutritionists and chefs to come up with a fast program that's guaranteed to help you drop 5 pounds, blast fat and firm up everywhere. The team's methods have worked for such clients as Demi Moore, Rachel Weisz, and singer Avril Lavigne, who have all called on Holistic Fitness to help them reach their better-body goals.

Joujon-Roche and his experts walk you through their exclusive, results-guaranteed program:

  • High-intensity cardio training five days a week for a minimum of 30 minutes. They advise full-body cardio activities where you use both upper- and lower-body sculpting, such as kickboxing, flowing power yoga and rowing.
  • High-intensity weight lifting with free weights or machines three days a week. Lift on non-consecutive days, so your muscles (chest, back, arms, legs, abs) can recover in between. This also means at least 15 minutes of targeted ab training three days per week.
  • A lower-fat diet of 1,500 calories per day [for women], and health-promoting habits from the start. "From day one, we encourage you to maintain an exercise-diet journal, take a multi-vitamin, and drink 10 glasses of water and green tea daily," says Joujon-Roche. "Plus, start eating a high-fiber, protein-packed diet that fuels your body, sustains willpower and revs up your metabolism."

Life Fit Chat with Laura Lewis: 4 Diet Tips For Fabulous Hair

Life Fit Chat with That's Fit Life Fit Expert Laura Lewis brings conversation-provoking tidbits to your table, served up with a touch of spice! Byte-sized information that pack some punch, brought to you every Wednesday and Thursday!

Goldilocks didn't get her head full of healthy hair from eating porridge all day. When she was not pilfering breakfast from the neighboring bears, she must have been eating a diet rich in the following ingredients:

1. Iron-rich protein. Protein is necessary for all cell growth in our body, and that includes the cells in our hair. Our hair gets its structure from hardened proteins called keratin. Iron is found in foods rich in protein such as tofu, soybeans, lentils, beans and black-eyed peas. Our bodies rely on iron to carry red blood cells filled with oxygen to all cells in our bodies--including our hair. Eating a diet rich in iron and protein helps new hair to grow in nice and strong.

2. Vitamin C. Vitamin C is essential for everyone, but vegetarians especially should consume vitamin C when eating a plant-based protein in order to fully absorb the iron the plant has to offer. Vitamin C assists the body in forming collagen, which is necessary for optimal hair growth. Great sources of vitamin C include guava, peppers, oranges, grapefruit, strawberries, pineapple, papayas, lemons, broccoli, kale, and Brussels sprouts.

3. B-vitamins-folate, vitamin B-6, vitamin B-12.
The B vitamins are big players in the creation of red blood cells. Red blood cells carry oxygen and other nutrients to every cell in our bodies. Our bodies must have enough B vitamins in order to grow healthy, strong and beautiful hair.

Good sources of vitamin B6 include fortified whole-grains, garbanzo beans, lentils, white potatoes (with the skin) and bananas.

Good sources of Vitamin B12 include fortified whole-grain breakfast cereal, soymilk and low-fat cottage cheese.

Good sources of folate include fortified whole-grain breakfast cereals, lentils, black-eyed peas, soybeans, oatmeal, turnip greens, spinach, green peas, artichokes, okra, beets, parsnips, and broccoli.

4. Zinc. Zinc is necessary for the growth of all new tissue, as well as tissue repair. Zinc also keeps the oil glands surrounding the hair follicles working in tip-top shape. Good sources of zinc include peanut butter, wheat germ, pumpkin seeds, and chickpeas.

So, eat well and watch your own locks grow and grow!

This or that? Every day health dilemmas

Healthy Habits, Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Nutrition & Supplements

Did you know that citrus beverages damage enamel faster than colas? That's why, if you're going to sip a beverage all day, cola is preferred over citrus drinks like lemonade. Of course, water won't damage your teeth at all, which makes it the best choice, but that's not the point of this article. Instead, Real Simple tries to guide you through every day health dilemmas and make the healthiest choice.

For instance, if you aren't sleep-deprived, waking early to work out is probably a better choice that getting an extra hour of sleep. And though experts didn't want to admit it, eating a doughnut for breakfast is likely better than eating nothing at all. Of course, if you find yourself needing to eat a doughnut every day for breakfast, it might be time to look at your lifestyle choices! But who hasn't wondered when faced with dinner after a long, impossible day whether pizza or Chinese is the better choice for takeout? Now, you'll know.

Do these common diet tips really work?

Diet & Weight Loss, Nutrition & Supplements

ave you ever wondered if all those diet tips you're always reading about ever work? Can you really lose weight by cutting out soda? (Yes.) Do smaller plates really help you eat less? (Maybe.) Self magazine recently asked some of their readers to give the more common weight loss tips a try, and then to share their results.

Some women loved what they learned. Eliminating multi-tasking during meals helped one women pay attention to what she ate. Another woman found that keeping junk food out of the house reduced her tendency to snack, but she couldn't see keeping it up long term. The thing that all of these tips have in common is that they are easy to carry out and demand little preparation, perfect for the low-maintenance dieter.

Subtle changes to help the weight come off

Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness

Those last 5 pounds are the hardest to lose, aren't they? If your scale seems to be stuck, despite the fact that you eat right and exercise every day, there are a few small, subtle changes you can make to finally hit that weight loss goal.

It's hard to gain weight when you load up on fruits and vegetables, but it isn't hard to overeat other types of nutritious foods. If you aren't counting calories, you still may be getting more than you need. MSNBC recommends that you use a calorie calculator to figure out how many calories you should be eating every day (don't forget to consider the calories burned in your workout) and then divvy them up between 5-6 meals and snacks. Once you're done, you're done.

They've got four more small changes you can make, including adding interval training to your workout, looking up the nutritional information of fast food choices ahead of time (even if they sound healthy), and eliminating diet foods from your menu. Before you know it, those last 5 pounds really will be gone and you can celebrate reaching your goal!

Don't let this Thanksgiving throw your diet into a tailspin

Healthy Home, Diet & Weight Loss, Nutrition & Supplements

Thanksgiving is less than a month away, which means that a 1,000-2,000 calorie meal is also fast approaching. Mind you, 2,000 calories is the suggested caloric intake for a grown man for an entire day! So, how do both men and women avoid overindulgence this turkey day? Here are a few suggestions:

1 - Keep your portions limited. This is, by far, the best approach. Remember, it typically takes your mind close to 20 minutes before it registers that you're full. This means that as you pound your fifth piece of pecan pie, you were actually full twenty minutes ago, only your brain was slow in letting alerting you to that fact. To avoid letting this brain/stomach disconnect destroy your daily diet, purposely eat only small portions of each course.

2 - Stick to whole grains. I know how delicious those soft, fluffy biscuits are. And, I also know how easy it is to eat about four thousand of them in one sitting. But, these tasty litter suckers pack a pretty big wallop in the high-GI carb and calorie department. Same goes for your Mom's traditional recipe for stuffing. Try switching to whole grain products, replacing them for their faster-digesting enriched flour version.

3 - Go with white meat. Leaner meat, yeah we know all about it. It's true; white meat has less fat and calories than does dark meat. The downside, though, is that dark meat usually has a much richer flavor. My two cents: if you decide to not listen to any of these suggestions, this should be the one that you disregard. Dark meat, albeit slightly higher in fat, still contains a great deal of protein and almost no carbohydrates. This one is your call.

4 - Bring your own dessert. By the time you've even gotten around to desert, you've probably already eaten waaaay too much food to warrant stuffing even a granule of sugar in your mouth, let alone a piece of apple pie. However, Thanksgiving wouldn't be Thanksgiving if it weren't for dessert, so you may as well be prepared. As such, you may want to bring your own dessert to wherever it is you're having dinner (that is, unless, of course, you're going to a restaurant). This way, you are in control of what you have to choose from. Some healthier options you can prepare are pumpkin pie made with Splenda, and any variety of sugar-free/fat-free pudding treats.

beachNeed a little jump start to motivate you to stick to your diet this summer? If the prospect of bikini-covered beaches and shorts-up-to-there don't do it for you, Web MD has some no-nonsense tips that just might do the trick.

They may not be original, but ideas like having a diet buddy and not striving for perfection are nice reminders. The reminder of being patient also spoke to me. One of the best bits of advice was to make sure you have a maintenance plan, because sometimes keeping the weight off is actually harder than losing it.

Put your refrigerator on a diet

Healthy Habits, Healthy Home, Diet & Weight Loss, Nutrition & Supplements

You can put yourself on a diet, you can put your significant other on a diet, you can even put your dog on a diet. Did you know, though, that if you're trying to lose weight you should put your kitchen on a diet as well? White-knuckling the steering wheel of willpower will only get you so far and if you're like me, when willpower fails you, it fails you in a big way. But having a fridge and pantry full of all the right things (and very, very few of the wrong things) is a great way to surround yourself with the tools for success.

Take a minute to look through your fridge and pantry. What does it contain? Are there chips, cookies, or highly processed snack foods? Is there ice cream in your freezer? Hot dogs in your fridge? Snacks have their place, even in the healthiest of diets, but putting temptation out of arm's reach and learning to love high-nutrient,lower calorie foods instead will help you shed those pounds quickly.

Ready to get started? Here's a great article about stocking your fridge with all the right foods, and another about shaping up your pantry. Got any other great tips for keeping your kitchen lean and mean? Share them with us!

Blowing that diet plan in less than a minute -- and how to prevent it

Diet & Weight Loss

When you are on a diet, do you think of all the things that can knock you off the wagon? Things like smelling that unhealthy dish (but very deliciously smelly) or that slip to the fast food restaurant for a quick cheat? After all, there is no stronger tool in the dieting game (and the weight loss game) than sheer willpower.

Sometimes, it can take less than a minute to blow a diet. What can you do so the flood of eating memories doesn't come crashing down to ruin all the hard work you've accomplished in staying on that dieting track?

Try the "STOP" method, which includes these steps:

Slow down
Think
Open your mind
Pay attention

If you can STOP, then you won't lose control over your eating habits and dietary forces won't come to a standstill when the smell of that quarter pounder wafts into your cubicle from the other side.

Daily Fit Tip: Take advice from the experts

Daily Fit Tip

AOL's Diet department has come up with this list of the the 100 smartest dieting tips. Usually I'm skeptical of things claiming to be the 'best' or the 'smartest' but I really think they're on to something here. Each of their tips is something simple that you can do, eat or say to help you at any point along your weight-loss journey, whether you're just starting out, you've hit a plateau or you're working the maintenance phase.

The ones that I am taking to heart are:

8. When dining out, make it automatic: Order one dessert to share.
16. Follow the Chinese saying: "Eat until you are eight-tenths full."
26. Have a V8 or tomato juice instead of a Diet Coke at 3PM.
72. Try two weeks without sweets. It's amazing how your cravings vanish.
95. Yoga can burn 250 to 350 calories during an hour-long class.

Read the list and let me know which ones are most helpful for you!
