Cheryl Burke Launches Activewear Line
"Dancing With the Stars" mania is in full force. Admit it -- you've found yourself dancing your way around the kitchen more than once since the season started last week. I know I have! Anyway, now, you have the opportunity to look like you belong on the dance floor, even if your two left feet say otherwise.Cheryl Burke has come out with a line of activewear for Fit Couture. And, as you would expect from a dancer, the pieces are designed to move with you, so whether you're shaking your hips in a salsa class or sweating it up on the Stairmaster, you can expect your shirt to stay put.
Burke told "People" magazine that she'd always wanted to have a clothing line, explaining, "I'm so into being comfortable, and these pieces are just that. I like to wear layers ... when I work out. These pieces move with you. The shirts are extra long so they don't ride up and the pants have a fold-over waistband that feels snug but not restricting."
Check Out Oprah's Favorite New Clothing Line - Beyond Yoga

If you've checked out the January issue of O Magazine, you've seen Oprah in a purple athletic outfit that flatters her shape, even though she's nowhere near the shape she desires. The clothes she's wearing are from Beyond Yoga, a line that has gained quite a few celebrity fans ... of all sizes.
Beyond Yoga is designed by Jodi Guber, who I had a chance to chat with recently -- you can read more about that at StyleList. What really struck me about Guber is her dedication to creating comfortable but stylish clothing that work on women from size XS (like Gossip Girl's Blake Lively) to XL, like Oprah.Guber has been a devotee of yoga, as well as an instructor, for many years, and has also been in the public eye since she was a child due to well-known parents. However, she was overweight, which made her uncomfortable at the time but led to her determination to make sure even those of us who don't fit in a Small can look (and feel) great.
Cycling: It's chic again ... and expensive
Forget too-tight bike shorts and geeky-looking cycling accessories -- biking is now considered the chic new way to get fit. That's right -- it may not be a new way to work out, but it's highly fashionable these days. Hot celebs like Agyness Deyn, Chloe Sevigny and Jennifer Aniston are apparently new owners of fancy bikes, according to the Daily Mail. According to Caz Nicklin of CycleChic.co.uk, "There is nothing more glamorous than gliding down the street in a lovely floaty dress. It's almost as if we have come full circle. In its day, cycling was groundbreaking for women. It brought us trousers and meant we could go places on our own. Now, it's back again as a stylish pastime."
So stylish, in fact, that you can buy Chanel and Gucci bikes -- with a price tag of about $9600 and $3300, respectively. Wow -- that's quite an expensive pasttime. My $50 garage-sale bike might not be as fashionable but it's just as good for a workout.
Fit Beauty Giveaway - Pallie Bags Harison Tote
I know I'm not the only one who runs errands either before or after hitting the gym, which, for me means walking around in my gym clothes. And, while I don't mind looking like I'm either about go to or just finished a workout, I always feel kind of silly walking around in my sporty clothes with a nice leather handbag. But, my other option is to take a gym bag in the store with me, and that doesn't really work, either. This week, I'm giving away a handbag that will solve that problem for one (very) lucky winner. It's the Pallie bags Harison Tote (pictured above in turquoise, but the winner will receive one in tangerine), and it's a perfect mix of casual and cute, tough and trendy.
Forget that boring black backpack -- toss your towel, water bottle, and iPod in this bag and hit the gym in style. Or, save it for occasions when your fancier purses just won't do. Or use it all the time -- I probably would. Want to enter? Follow the jump!
Marc Jacobs: Addicted to exercise
By now, it's no secret that famous designer Marc Jacobs has been to rehab a couple of times for help with his addictions to alcohol and drugs. But while replacing one addiction with another is usually not considered healthy, Jacobs has found one new addiction that is: Exercise.
In the latest issue of Harper's Bazaar, Jacobs admits that he often goes to the gym for three hours at a time. And he complements his new routine by eating well, following an eating plan prescribed to him by nutritionist Lisa Duncan to rid him of digestive problems. On the menu these days? Nutrient powerhouses like mangosteen, goji, noni, and açaí berries.
Team USA gets dressed like everyone else -- one preppy pant leg at a time
How do I know that this year's U.S. Olympic athletes will be dressing preppy? Do I hang out in the training camps? Do they come to me for fashion advice? Sadly, no (at least, not yet). But, I do know that Ralph Lauren will be outfitting Team USA during the opening ceremony. As one of the pioneers of preppy, sporty fashion, Lauren has taken over for Roots, Ltd., a Canadian company that has held the Olympic contract for the past three Olympic games.

Famous designer quits, saying the future is in health and fitness
Celebrities and Entertainment, Celebs & Entertainment
Philippe Starck is a designer famous around the world for his creations of everything from furniture to watches to architecture, but it seems that he's suddenly unsatisfied with his career and is having a "midlife crisis" of sorts. He recently said in an interview that he plans to retire within the next two years because everything he designed was "unnecessary and materialistic" and he's ashamed to have been a part of it. He went on to say that design is dead, on the whole, and that "the designers of the future will be the personal coach, the gym trainer, the diet consultant."That's an interesting thought, although I would hate to think that if I hire myself a personal trainer and make major progress they're going to get all the "design credit" for my new physique. That glory is all mine, baby.
No word yet on what Starck's future plans might be, I wonder if they'll be health related?
Is "designer water" worth it?
Vitamin water, Propel, Kellogs K20 -- these are all examples of water with a touch of "enhancement." They're popular too, because sales of designer water have boosted beverage companies' revenue over the billion dollar mark. But an interesting question is being posed: Are these bottles of H20 worth the cost, and the extra calories?Sure, it's better than downing a can of soda. But big businesses have found out how to make normal water look even more appealing. The result is a bottle of water which they claim is healthier than its bland alternative. However, don't be fooled: some of these "vitamin waters" are packing additives that aren't even water-soluble.
So basically consumers are getting a bunch of sugar water for the $3 price tag. If you're an athlete, this can be well worth the cost. But for everyone else just trying to get their H20 for the day, you might be drinking down extra calories without even being fully aware. Sobe Life Water, for example, weighs in at 150 calories per bottle! This may not be an issue for some people, but others may want to pay more attention to the nutrition facts next time.
Should Jamie Lynn flaunt her growing belly?
Celebrities and Entertainment, Celebs & Entertainment
Should Jamie Lynn Spears, 16 years old and 12 weeks pregnant, show off that growing belly of hers like sister Britney did? Definitely not, says maternity wear designer Liz Lange."Britney was into cowboy boots with little dresses,"says Lange. "That was her style. I'd like to see Jamie Lynn go a little plainer. [No] belly baring for her!"
Lange recommends the newly-pregnant Spears look her age.
"She's a young girl, so I would want to keep [her look] innocent," Lange says. "I think little cute dresses and jeans with tight-fitting tee shirts."
As for the magnitude of this life event, Lange says: "I hope she's ready for this -- It's definitely a big step. I know that as a mother myself. But if this is what she wants and what their family wants, then mazel tov."
Ideas on how to find hip new clothes for less
Fall can be an expensive time of year as far as clothing is concerned. Kids are heading back to school and need the newest, hippest pieces if they don't want to become social outcasts (please, note the sarcasm), and the rest of us need to find new outfits to replace the stuff that got worn-out or donated to charity last year.
Unfortunately, we can't all afford to be fashionistas so if you're looking for Todd Oldham style on a Old Navy budget, consider some of these suggestions to find cool clothes at a decent price. Tips include using different accessories to transform an outfit from boring to bold and digging through the racks at consignment stores for designer clothing that has been cast-off before its time (granted this kind of treasure may be rare but with some patience you could be duly rewarded with a fantastic, unused or rarely-worn piece),
Also, consider throwing a clothes swapping party. You may have grown (hopefully) too small for a great pair of jeans that you've hardly broken in, while a friend could have been gifted an incredible top that isn't her style, but which she neglected to return. Remember, one woman's throwaway is another's hottest new outfit. For more tips, take a look at the entire article here.
