Turmeric: Herbal Remedy
Turmeric, one of the main ingredients in curry, is a plant and spice known for its unique flavor, bright yellow coloring and reputed health benefits.
Part of the ginger family, Turmeric was used as a dye and considered a powerful anti-inflammatory in ancient Chinese and Indian medicine. It is also believed to have an array of health benefits. It has been used as both a cancer-fighting agent and a liver detoxifier. Additionally, the South Asian plant can be used as an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal agent on cuts and burns. Turmeric has also been used as a digestive aid and treatment for arthritis and depression.
Today, turmeric can be taken as in capsule form. Most experts, however, recommend that people try to include it in their daily recipes and meals.

Quinoa and grilled zucchini recipe showdown
Healthy Recipes, Diet & Weight Loss, Alternative & Green Health, Nutrition & Supplements
What? What do you mean I've posted a quinoa and grilled zucchini recipe before? OK, I admit it, I did the deed. But since these two recipes are so radically different, I thought it would be fun to do a comparison of the two recipes; surely you'll choose a favorite. The new quinoa and grilled zucchini recipe has eggs, pine nuts, goat cheese and a tantalizing yogurt avocado dressing, all providing protein and other nutrients. The original recipe I posted has garbanzo beans as added protein.
Most of the flavor in the original quinoa recipe is provided by curry spices, like cumin, paprika and turmeric. In this new recipe, fresh cilantro dominates for a very different flavor. Both recipes use healthy spices, so we're win-win here.

A delicious source of vegetarian protein? Quinoa, of course! It is not a true grain, so it is more protein than carbs, and it offers a plethora of vital minerals as well.Zucchini, chock-full of vitamin C and minerals, is abundant this time of year and healthy.
Garbanzo beans: high in potassium, vitamins B and E, and fiber; another powerful legume.
How can you go wrong combining these amazingly healthy foods in one delectable dish?
Curry vs. Cancer
I've heard before that curry can fight cancer, but apparently, it loses some of its effectiveness when it's ingested. So researchers in Japan have come up with two synthetic versions of that magical spice that can harness the cancer-fighting potential of curry, even when ingested. And when tested on mice, the results were promising -- they worked far better at combatting cancer than regular curry. To read more about the studies, click here.
I wonder if this synthetic curry tastes the same as regular curry? I myself love curry but I know some people who don't. What about you? Do you love curry?

Combat skin cancer with curry
Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment, Reviews & Products
I'm a big fan of cuisines from different cultures, and one of my favorites is Indian Curry. Here's some news for my fellow curry fans: Studies show that it can fight cancer, skin cancer in particular.
Apparently, one of the main ingredients of a good curry, Cumin, has been shown to kill some melanoma cells in laboratory tests. Skin cancer is one of the most widespread of the cancers and it's though it's often disregarded as a threat in favor of a nice tan, it can prove deadly if not taken care of. So eat up! Of course, sunscreen and protective clothing are the best defendants against skin cancer, but every little step helps, right?
I'm heading out to the local Indian buffet soon. Are you with me?
Another note: Curry is also good for the brain, as reported on That's Fit in October.
