Eva Longoria endorses chocolate

Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria believes in indulgence, sensuality, and yes, chocolate. This makes her new side job quite a fit for the 33-year-old actress.

Longoria is the new face of a chocolate campaign soon to be featured in ads shown in the U.K. and Europe. The chocolate lover will promote Mayan Mystica, a chocolate ice cream covered in milk chocolate flavored with cinnamon, honey, and nutmeg and Magnum Minis, small chocolates available in a variety of yummy flavors. The good thing about the minis is that they are well, mini. Yes, they are small. Which means you can enjoy one or two here and there. If you can get your hands on one of these minis, then, give it a try. Just don't go overboard.

After your indulgence, stop over here at AOL's Celebrity Diet and Fitness site and see what the stars do to stay in shape when they're not endorsing chocolate.

Cocoa and kissing will help you stay healthy

Diet & Weight Loss, Motivation

Part of the fun of writing for That's Fit is searching out interesting health and wellness information. Unfortunately, a lot of the stuff we find can be a bit depressing -- it seems like almost everything causes cancer but even that doesn't matter because obesity is going to kill everyone first anyway.

So when I come across something a bit fun, it's nice to be able to share it with readers. For those of you who want some good news, take a look at this short piece that shares why kissing and chocolate are good for you! Apparently chemicals like oxytocin are released when you smooch a loved one and cause a subsequent feeling of calm. The article mentions that German scientists believe people who get a kiss before heading off to work make more money, take fewer sick days and live longer. Not bad for a quick peck on your way out the door.

As for chocolate, did you know that the tasty dark variety can help soothe a cough? Scientists in Britain believe that dark chocolate is more effective than a codeine-based suppressant at keeping a nasty cough at bay. I don't know about all of you but I think it's nice to hear some pleasant health news from time to time!

Which sets the heart a-fluttering more: Chocolate or a kiss?

Diet & Weight Loss, Motivation, Nutrition & Supplements

What excites you more -- chocolate or a passionate kiss? It's a purely subjective matter but technically speaking, the correct answer is chocolate. According to SELF Magazine, the sensation of chocolate melting on your tongue is physically more stimulating than a kiss. Here's what happens when you eat chocolate:
  • The ingredients in chocolate trigger the release of serotonin and endorphins, which leads to a feeling of euphoria
  • Theobromine and caffeine stimulate thought in the brain
  • Your blood pressure and heart rate go up
  • A chemical called anandamide triggers pleasure centers in the brain
So maybe the old saying about sex being better than chocolate is true? Still, kissing has a lot less calories than chocolate so if you're watching what you eat, stick to the kissing. What do you think?
