Katie Holmes: Weight Loss Due to Working Too Much

Celebs & Entertainment

When a mega-celeb like Katie Holmes appears thinner than usual, it's easy to assume that it's because of her overbearing husband, her bizarre Scientology religion or her apparent desire to look exactly like Victoria Beckham. But according to the star herself, her recent weight loss is for much less interesting reasons -- she's simply working too much.

Working long hours six days a week during the recent Broadway run of All My Sons, Katie said her busy schedule was the reason for her figure. "My metabolism was in full gear the whole time," she says. "I lose weight fast when I'm working so hard. It doesn't matter how much I eat, I just get thin. It's not the worst problem in the world to have though is it?"

Fair enough -- I know when I'm busy at work, I tend to eat less too. Your thoughts?

Katie Holmes - Is She Too Thin?

Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise
Katie Holmes' "bony breastplate," "rapidly thinning frame" and "almost non-existent cleavage" are all that's being talked about over at the Daily Mail, and when you look at the photos of her pencil-thin arms as well as her exposed sternum, one can't help being a bit alarmed by her gaunt appearance. Or at least I can't -- what about you?

Yes, the 30-year-old actress has been working hard lately, appearing six nights a week on Broadway and rushing to her husband's side for the Golden Globes. But either this is a really bad angle or it seems she's taken her Scientology detox diet to an extreme -- then again, bad angles usually make you look bigger, not skeletal, right?

Is Katie Holmes Trying to Lose Weight? With A Scientology Detox?

Celebs & Entertainment

I'm guessing I'm not the only one who's furiously trying to shed the couple of extra egg nog pounds that ended up padding my hips over the holiday season. Heck, even super-slim Katie Holmes is trying to shed some pounds. She was recently spotted in NYC with a diet drink called Celsius, which promises to burn extra calories with its 'thermogenic blend'. I'm guessing the petite starlet is burning tons of calories already with her crazy schedule, which includes performing on Broadway six nights a week, playing mommy to Suri and spending an estimated $14 million on a bunch of crazy shopping sprees in the big apple.

That's not all -- once production of All My Sons wraps, the taller half of TomKat is supposedly going on an intense Scientology detox. "The Clear Body, Clear Mind plan utilises a regime of exercise, sauna sweat-out, vitamins and minerals to cleanse bodies of toxins," says a source. "Katie is tired from balancing motherhood with her six-nights-a-week show and wants to get back into shape. The plan involves doses of the vitamin niacin to purify the body."

Spending day in the sauna sounds like my kind of detox! Pity about the exercise bit.

Mario Lopez flexes his musical (and manly) muscles on Broadway

Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

Mario Lopez showed the world he could do a little dancing on Dancing With the Stars, but who expected this? Our beloved former A.C. Slater has taken his act to Broadway, joining the cast of A Chorus Line!

Mario will be playing Zach (no, not a nod to his former Saved By The Bell BFF, Zack Morris), a demanding director in charge of casting the chorus roles for a new musical on Broadway. He debuts this Tuesday, so you'd better get your tickets fast -- if these promo pictures are any indication, this is going to be one hot show!

Or, at the very least, Mario will be looking hot, and that's enough for some of us. I'd have to say Broadway agrees with him. Wouldn't you? Check out the gallery for proof!

Hooray for Paige Davis! I just got done interviewing the delightful host of TLC's Trading Spaces and I genuinely like her a lot. We spent an hour blabbing our brains out, and I have to tell you that the girl is as easy, sweet and likable in person as she is on the show. The world of home improvement fans exhaled a collective sigh of relief when TLC announced they were bringing back their beloved Paige.

She's sweet, she's smart, and she happens to have a smoking body. She's been professionally dancing for a very long time, and has some terrific advice to help get the rest of us in super shape as well. Paige's perspective on both life and fitness seems to be on track. Her enthusiasm is contagious. If you'd like to catch a case of her 'perfect life' germs...read on!

Fitz: You've been gone from Trading Spaces for a few years, and just finished shooting the first half of the new season. How'd it go?

Paige: Great! We've shot 13 episodes so far. It's been different, but great! It's wonderful to be back working with all of my friends who were there before. It is so much fun working with Frank. And Doug is like a sibling to me. We have this silly chemistry, and we just poke fun at each other and have a blast all the time. Plus, I've made lots of new friends. I love it.

Fitz: Moving is really hard work. The audience may wonder of you're just the cute perky girl hosting the show, without having to actual pitch in to the tasks. How much physical labor do you actually do while filming?
