Breakfast for kids who don't like breakfast

Healthy Kids, Nutrition & Supplements

You know that breakfast is the most important meal of your child's day. It provides fuel to get their day started, stabilizes blood sugar and prevents overeating, and improves academic performance. But what about kids who are too busy to eat breakfast, aren't hungry in the morning, or just don't like typical breakfast foods? Ediets has some excellent suggestions for getting breakfast into your young breakfast hater. Some of my favorite tips include:
  • Give them a straw. Put all the components of a great breakfast -- protein, healthy cabs, and a little fat -- into a blender and mix it up. Even kids who don't want to eat will often drink a sweet smoothie.
  • Try to wean your kids off sweet cereals, but in the mean time, pair that high-sugar treat with a protein (like eggs) to slow the sugar down.
  • Prepare foods ahead (hard boiled eggs, for example) that your kids can easily grab when they're on the go.
  • Don't worry if they eat last nights leftovers for breakfast. As long as they're eating nutritiously, it just doesn't matter if they don't like "breakfast foods."
