Eggs in the morning may help with weight loss
Diet & Weight Loss, Nutrition & Supplements
Many studies show that people who eat breakfast have a better chance of losing weight. When you consume a balanced breakfast including foods like fruit, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein, you're fueling your body with slow-burning foods that will keep you energized throughout the day. In addition, healthful breakfast choices will help you feel full longer. A new study narrows down the healthful breakfast recommendations. The study found that dieters who ate two eggs for breakfast had better weight control than those who ate bagels. (The overall calorie intake of all study subjects was controlled.) In detail, those who ate eggs lost 65% more weight, had 61% greater reduction in BMI, and had higher energy levels.
It's important to note that the study was funded by the Egg Nutrition Center. I have to wonder what the results would be if the non-egg eaters in the study had eaten something more nutritious than a bagel (the report doesn't specify if the bagels were whole grain and if they were topped with anything).

Want to shed pounds? Avoid these top diet busters
Diet & Weight Loss, Nutrition & Supplements
So many of us are trying to lose pounds, whether it's a few or a few hundred. But no matter what your goal, it's important to know which items are healthiest and which will de-rail your diet intentions. Courtesy of AOL Body, here are some of the top diet busters that you might be consuming on a regular basis:- Fancy coffees: Those lattes, frappuccinos and macchiatos can be deadly to a diet. Stick to black coffee, or if you can't handle it, coffee with light cream and sweetener.
- Bagels: Bagels are the equivalent of up to 5 pieces of bread -- yikes!
- Granola bars: They're basically candy bars with a healthy-sounding name
- Applesauce: Unsweetened is fine, but sweetened apple sauce is full of sugar.
- Baked chips: They might be healthier than regular chips, but only slightly. They're still chalk full of calories
- Sports drinks: There's no point in trading in soda for a sports drink -- the latter has just as much sugar!
Diet no-nos: You might be sabotaging your diet without realizing it
Diet & Weight Loss, Nutrition & Supplements
You're following your healthy eating plan to a T and yet you're still having trouble losing weight. Why? Chances are it's due to some diet saboteurs, things that you might not even think about but that will make it difficult to shed pounds. They're even things you might think are healthy, such as:
-Coffee. It's calorie-free when black but if you're loading it with cream and sugar, it packs a calorie-ladden wallop
-Bagels can have the same amount of calories as five pieces of bread. It's because they're so dense.
-Granola is usually loaded with sugar and fatty oils, especially in bar form. It's best to make your own.
-Applesauce is also loaded with sugar.

'Apprentice' contestant developes the 'Bagel Diet'
Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment
Brent Buckman, a former contestant on the Apprentice, didn't manage to woo the Donald with his business expertise, but he has put his 'skills' to another use: promoting his Bagel Diet. He swears he lost 110 lbs on the diet, which has you eating 4 bagels a day, each toasted with low fat margarine, and as an added bonus, you can have lean deli-sliced meat on your dinnertime bagel. Plus, you can have a cheat day, either once a month, once every two weeks or once every week, depending on how fast you want to lose weight. On this cheat day, you can have whatever you want. Pizza, chips, deep-fired chicken fingers -- you name it. Exercise is optional, depending on how fast you want to lose weight. How does it work? Bagels generally have between 200 to 450 calories each so each day you're getting between 1200 and 1800 calories, which is about what you should be eating to lose weight, depending on your size. But is it healthy? That's an entirely different story.
All I can say about this 'diet' is Gross! Where are the all-important nutrient-providing fruits and veggies? All you're getting is carbs, processed fat, a small amount of processed protein and the occasional binge day where you're free to consume all the trans and saturated fat you want. And even if it wasn't awful for you, who wants to eat bagel after bagel after bagel? Borrrrrrring.
