Fitness Fashion Flashback, '80s Style

Anyone with any interest in fashion has probably realized that one of the biggest fall trends is one we've seen before -- the '80s are back, baby, and they're more radical than, like, ever before!

But, like any trend, you don't want to go overboard, or you'll risk looking less like a vixen and more like a fashion victim. Fortunately, when it comes to fitness apparel, there are plenty of ways to incorporate the '80s trend in a fun (not funny) way.

American Apparel is rocking this trend like nobody's business (just check out the tubular picture above!). And yes, you could definitely rock some leg warmers with tights or leggings. Or, take the style to the top with a baggy tee over a leotard (whether you tie it in a knot or use a scrunchie to gather the side is up to you).

Stifle the sweat

Reviews & Products

Several summers ago, I hosted a young boy from a Russian orphanage. He lived with me for nearly two months. During that time, I picked up quite a bit of Russian and he learned even more English. As 8-year-old boys are prone to do, he tended to fall off his bike and scooter quite a bit. Every time he'd get up and say "Ni chevo!" which roughly translates into something like "no big deal" or "no sweat!" Every time he'd say "Ni chevo," I'd nod and respond with the English colloquialisms. If anyone in his orphanage spoke English, they may wonder why he came back from America talking about not sweating!

"No sweat" is one of those phrases that has worked its way into our culture. There's a subtle implication that sweating is a problem. But, in most cases, sweat is a good thing. While everyone sweats at a different rate, sweat during physical activity isn't a bad thing. But, unfortunately, it can be a bad thing for our noses. If you want to take the odor out of your sweaty workout, Good Housekeeping has a review on odor-free socks and sweat-wicking workout clothes.

Get a deal on your next running shoes with Shop It To Me Running

Reviews & Products

One of the beautiful things about online shopping is that there are some phenomenal deals to be had. However, unless you spend a portion of most days checking out your favorite online stores, sometimes it's hard to catch the best deals. And, if you're anything like me, you know there's no reason to pay full price for workout clothes -- if you can afford to be patient, the items you need will always go on sale.

Shop It To Me Running is a fast, easy, and commitment-free way to score great deals on the workout clothes you need. From shoes to sports bras, you can select the brands and sizes you'd like to receive updates on, and when those items go on sale, Shop It To Me Running will email you. You can opt to receive notifications daily, twice weekly, or once a week.

While I'm excited to receive my next update, the thing I'm most thrilled about is how much money I could save on shoes. I was able to enter my exact shoe preference (Mizuno Wave Elixir, Size 8). I know it can be scary to order running shoes without trying them on, but if you have a specific brand and model that you've worn (I'm on my third pair), there's really no risk.
