Maria Shriver's medical records leaked
I imagine having medical information, heck any kind of information, about a celebrity at your fingertips has to be tempting. But when an employee at UCLA Medical Center couldn't fight her nosiness any longer and improperly accessed that information, she crossed a line. She was fired for the breech, but 31 celebrities, politicians, and other famous people are left wondering what she knows and what she's planning on doing with it.
The woman managed to view Maria Shriver's records as well as Farrah Fawcett's. Fawcett is fighting cancer and shortly after the breech, information about her reached the tabloids, though officials say there's no evidence the woman sold any of the information she found. Though Fawcett knew her records had been accessed in 2007, the rest of the names have just recently become public.
It makes me wonder if she was hatching a money-making scheme or if she just couldn't contain her curiosity. Either way, she's now out of a job.
Sleep disorder led Grey's star to psych ward

Grey's Anatomy star Justin Chambers says he checked in to UCLA's psych ward recently because of a longtime sleep disorder."It's an issue that I've had for a while," Chambers told PEOPLE magazine in his first interview since the incident. "It's a biological sleep disorder. Your mind keeps racing, and your body is tired. It wants to go to sleep, but it can't."
At his wit's end, the 37-year-old actor, husband, and father of five says he was sleeping no more than an hour a week during the two months leading up to his hospital stay.
We all know sleep is vital to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It's a topic covered here at That's Fit all the time. To brush up on your sleep smarts so you can get the quality rest -- and the benefits that come from rest -- you so deserve, check out these recent sleepy posts.

Pomegranate may help you get a heart on

Pomegranates were all the rage in 2006 and 2007. Because they contain high levels of antioxidants and were linked to a reduced risk of cancer, heart disease, and stroke, this fruit quickly rose to the rank of super-food. But, in the past few months or so, many people have started to question whether pomegranates are all they're cracked up to be; chiefly, if their high calorie count makes them a poor choice over other, lower-calorie fruits and vegetables that are also high in antioxidants.
However, as that debate rages on, some new pro pomegranate research just popped up. A UCLA study found that middle-aged men with moderate erectile dysfunction who drank one glass of pomegranate juice daily for twenty-eight days demonstrated a slight change in their capacity to get an erection.
Though in no way conclusive, this study shows promise for the use of pomegranate for the treatment of ED. If you're one of the estimated 30 million American men who suffer from this disorder, maybe this Valentine's Day you and your partner can thank pomegranate juice for helping you have a heart on. ;)
UCLA scientists: dieting does not work
I was reading some archive material today and found an interesting article from this past April. Are you ready? Here is the jist: diets don't work. Uh-oh -- them's fighin' words, right?UCLA researchers stated that most dieters gain the weight they lose right back In fact, many gain more than they lost and end up being heavier than before the diet even began. Sound familiar? It does to me -- I've been there.
I love it when academia studies diet studies and pulls out the real information you'll never find in the marketing materials for low-carb food items and diet plans.
