Sculpt Yourself a Star Body

While some stars are airbrushed on the covers of magazines, other celebrities work hard for their sculpted bodies. CafeMom shares a few secrets of celebrity trainers so that you, too, can rock a hot red-carpet bod.

Check out the featured CafeMom video (via Self.com) to zero in on your abs, arms, thighs and butts in the privacy of your own home -- and with no high-tech special equipment. Hand weights and/or resistance tubing is all you should need. Add to your regular workout routine 10 reps of each exercise, and do two sets. Who knows, you might end up resembling the likes of Jennifer Garner, Jessica Biel and Jennifer Lopez.

And then there's Michelle Obama -- now, she could teach you a thing or two about getting fit.

Ice Cream, Burgers and Pasta - 12 Stars Reveal Their Diet Derailers

Celebs & Entertainment, Nutrition & Supplements

Diet derailers are everywhere -- in your house, in the grocery store, at work, at play, in your head even. Here, we'll address the very things that throw us off course. Together, we'll learn how to avoid our diet traps -- and how to get back on track when we can't.

The list of diet derailers goes on. and on. and on. It never stops, really, because what destroys one diet might be very different from what tanks another. There just might be as many diet crushers as there are people living on this planet. I mean, look at all the culprits we covered in 2008. And already in 2009, we've talked resolutions, fast food and weekends -- each one ripe for wrecking a good diet.

Forget everyone on the planet for now. Let's talk celebrities (they're way more fun) and what derails their diets. Because believe it or not, stars splurge too (not very often from the looks of most of them) and I, for one, am curious about what sinful favorites might morph their famous physiques into famous fat. Check out the gallery below, because People magazine has the scoop.

Sundance Film Festival Gets Fit

Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

Nick CannonI know it's hard to feel sorry for celebrities, but imagine this -- your job is dependent upon you looking good, but, another part of your job is to attend premieres, awards ceremonies, and festivals, all of which basically require you to drink lots of champagne and eat out at celebratory dinners with your costars. Oh, and being famous, you can't use the hotel gym without getting mobbed. How do you stay fit during awards season?

This year, Gatorade is trying to help the stars attending the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah by providing the first ever full-service fitness center, named the G Gym. Nick Cannon and Eliza Dushku are just a couple of celebrities who have already taken advantage of the opportunity to stay in shape. And, said celebs have the chance to help raise some money for charity at the same time.

Celebrities can schedule appointments with top trainers (like my personal fave, Gunnar Peterson) at the facility, which is stocked with state-of-the-art equipment, space for yoga/meditation, and a fully stocked Gatorade drink bar (natch), which will come in especially handy as most of these A-listers aren't used to working out at such a high altitude.

Will Donny Osmond Join the Cast of Dancing with the Stars

Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

donny osmonLast week, I had an exclusive interview with the one and only Donny Osmond. He's currently co hosting ABC's new show Rediscovered, and I thought it would be appropriate to ask what everyone else is probably wondering: "Are you planning on following Marie's footsteps and joining the cast of Dancing with the Stars?"

When Marie competed last year, Donny seemed to spend just as much time on the show throwing in his two cents. He obviously has rhythm and is no stranger to the stage, so why wouldn't he take a stab at that fancy disco ball trophy?

Maybe Donny is afraid of not getting as far in the competition as his sister did? Maybe he's worried about not doing those glittery costumes justice? He's asked this question every day, but until we spoke on the phone, I had never heard him give a definitive answer.

Celebrity Trainer Gunnar Peterson - Look Great in That Little Black Dress

Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

Gunnar PetersonThis is the third part of my interview with trainer to the stars Gunnar Peterson. He dished about his celebrity clients, gave us tips on working out faster and smarter, and now, we're wrapping up the interview with tips for fitting into that sexy little dress ... by New Year's Eve!

Trying to get ready for a holiday party or hot New Year's Eve date? Gunnar suggests dropping carbs like bread, rice and pasta from your dinner (but don't drop them completely from your diet), getting plenty of sleep, staying hydrated and pushing yourself in your workout with your goal in mind. Fuel yourself for your workouts with some protein a couple of hours beforehand, and stay hydrated throughout your workout -- you'll get more out of it in less time.

If you're going strapless or backless, add some pull-ups into your routine. Gunnar is a big fan of assisted pull-ups using rubber bands, which allow even those who can't do a single pull-up alone to complete several reps. "It gives you a great feeling of accomplishment," he said, "which gets you fired up." Also, throw in some rear shoulder movements, like the reverse fly -- it'll help define muscles and give you better posture.

Gunnar Peterson - Celebrity Trainer Reveals Which Stars Work Out Hardest

Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

Gunnar PetersonI recently had the chance to chat with Gunnar Peterson, trainer to the stars who has become somewhat of a star himself. He's been featured in too many magazine articles and television shows to count, and counts among his clients celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Hugh Jackman.

Immediately after we began to talk, it became apparent why he has so many fans -- he's tough, and he knows his stuff, but he's also really likable. After teasing me about how I could be working out back to back with Hugh Jackman if only I were in the area (at which point I just died, people -- just being near Hugh Jackman would give me a cardio workout!), we got into the good stuff, like which of his celebrity clients hit their workouts hard, and what we should be doing to maximize our gym workouts.

You know how some stars look amazing all the time, whether they're out promoting a film or not? Turns out that it's not magic. "Some are genetically geared toward being fit," said Gunnar, "but the ones who are consistantly in great shape work out hard." Of course, there are clients who only come in when they have a photoshoot coming up, or because their manager or agent made them, but Gunnar sees plenty of celebrities who are always ready to work up a sweat.

The Secret Behind Cameron Mathison's Amazing Abs

Celebrity Fitzness Report, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

Curious to know how celebrities squeeze fitness into their daily lives? Want to know the secrets of the stars? Bi-weekly, our That's Fit fitness expert Fitz sits down with the celebs we want to know more about, and digs out their great and not-so-great methods to staying healthy.

Cameron Mathison introduced his amazing abdominals to prime time TV viewers last year on ABC's Dancing with the Stars. Those abs are a gift daytime soap addicts have enjoyed for a long time, as Cameron has starred on All My Children for many years. Last week, Cameron sat down to chat with me (I'm the squeaky voice you'll hear over a weird connection in the background) about how he stays in amazing shape. His advice is golden and if you do what he says, you may be worthy of some shirtless scenes too.

If you're interested in getting one of those warm and fuzzy hugs Cameron may be handing out this weekend ...

What's to eat for Cameron Diaz and friends

Celebs & Entertainment, Nutrition & Supplements

Burritos anyone? Cameron Diaz will take one, and did take one -- a breakfast burrito -- the other morning after working out at the Gym on Nemo in West Hollywood. The fitness nut also had a full fat latte. The secret is out: Some stars really do eat.

VH1's Rock of Love reality star Bret Michaels -- you know, the Poison Every-Rose-Has-Its-Thorn singer -- was also spotted chowing down recently. Michaels indulged in a little southern cooking -- BBQ grilled chicken, cornbread, and ribs.

What do other celebrities really like to eat? According to this blog, Jennifer Aniston is a lover of Mexican food, Tom Cruise opts for Italian, and Angelina Jolie is a sucker for McDonalds, Cheerios, and tequila. Britney Spears: Give the girl some pasta, cookie dough ice cream, hot dogs, and her mom's chicken and dumplings.

A perfect 10 for this dancing judge

Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment, Nutrition & Supplements

Take one look at Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba and it's clear the girl is doing something right to maintain her sleek dancer's body. Whatever could it be, aside from the dancing, that is?

Inaba credits yoga and a diet inspired by her island upbringing for her trim figure.

"I was born on Hawaii and I'm Japanese, so I was raised to eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables and protein, whether it's soybeans or fish," says Inaba. Smart girl -- with some smart moves. Check them out in the gallery below.

I recently had the opportunity to spend time with Mr. Michael Weiss while visiting him during one of his show stops for the Smucker's Stars on Ice tour. He comes from a wildly successful family of athletes (we're talking Olympians here) and has lived up to the Weiss expectations perfectly. Of course he trains like a workhorse, but it was neat to hear how sports and fitness were ingrained in him from ..... birth! He also tells about about the weight-loss-ish type competition he's engaged in with the other guys in the show. Sasha Cohen will decide the winner. Enjoy this interview. The guys got medals coming out the yin-yang and offers some fantastic fitness tips. There is a lot to learn!

Julianne Hough does more than dance

Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

Julianne Hough doesn't just dance to keep her slim body in shape. Nope. The two-time Dancing with the Stars champ says in addition to twirling on the dance floor, she also works out nearly five times a week.

Dancing just doesn't tone everything, says the 20-year-old. So she stretches and does crunches, lunges, and arm exercises every day -- preferably in the early morning so she can gain an energy boost for the rest of the day. Also on her exercise menu: the treadmill, free weights, and some choreography too.

Check out Hough in the July issue of Shape magazine -- and in the gallery below.

Stars share healthy kid advice

Healthy Habits, Celebrities and Entertainment, Healthy Kids, Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment, Alternative & Green Health, Nutrition & Supplements

What do Kate Hudson, Keri Russell, Tobey Maguire, and Gwyneth Paltrow have in common besides their star status? They're all concerned about their kids' safety. And they're all sharing some eco-friendly advice in the new book Healthy Child, Healthy World. Other stars chime in too.

Paltrow shares in the book her recipe for baby Moses's Brown Rice Baby Food. Hudson dishes about her own line of natural hair products and admits she hides veggies in son Ryder's food. Holly Robinson Peete tells how she gets her kids to help with household chores -- using only the greenest of products, of course.

Everything in this book is accessible, reasonable, and doable, says author Christoper Gavigan. It's a book about small changes. It's for everyone, he says. It's also a companion for this website: healthychild.org. Check it out when you can.
