I don't have many excuses to miss a workout -- I set my own daily schedule, I don't have children (only dogs), and I live in a warm climate (a Scrubs marathon on TV isn't a real excuse). I honestly can't imagine how hard it must be for new moms learning to schedule their time with babies and naps and feedings.

But, mamas with small children do get one advantage (sort of) -- they get to run with a stroller, which provides a much more intense workout that running without one. And, doing so doesn't give you bad form as was previously believed. Sheryl Crow is taking advantage, and why not? It allows her to get outside, get some great exercise, and she's spending time with her son.

If you're not sure how to start working out with a stroller, you might want to see if there is a Stroller Fit Class available near you. Also, check out the gallery below for the top user-rated jogging strollers from joggingstroller.com.

Sheryl Crow lobbies for breast cancer legislation

On Wednesday, rock star Sheryl Crow stirred up Capitol Hill as she appeared to lobby for breast cancer research legislation.

The Breast Cancer and Environmental Research Act, first introduced in 2000, authorizes $40 million a year to be spent on studying the link between breast cancer and environmental influences. The bill was roadblocked last year when Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla) put a hold on the legislation. His criticism of the bill is that the bill would take control from researchers and give it to politicians, and that the National Institute of Health already has $100 million per year to spend on breast cancer research.

Obviously Sheryl Crow and other politicians disagree, citing examples such as New York, where there are higher incidences of breast cancer in certain zip codes than others and the fact that native Alaskan women have higher incidences of the disease than other ethnic groups. Whether the rocker's star power had any influence or not, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid vowed the bill would pass this year.

Sheryl Crow and Gabby Reece work side by side for health

I just came across this today: Yahoo! has teamed singer and recent breast cancer patient Sheryl Crow with pro-volleyball player Gabrielle Reece, who is Crow's coach towards healthier living. If any of you have seen Sheryl Crow recently, you'll know that she definitely doesn't need any help losing weight (she needs help gaining it, more likely!) but Reece is helping her gain strength, eat better and take time out for herself. Of the 6-week program, the two are now on week 4, and those interested can keep track of their progress by reading Emails and chats that the two have exchanged. The goal of the program is to get Reece, Crow and everyone else talking about healthy living and the importance of taking time out for yourself.

Check it out and let me know what you think.
