Ricki Lake Can't Believe She Was Ever Fat
Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment, Nutrition & Supplements
Ricki Lake once weighed 270 pounds and now that she's holding steady at 140, she just can't believe she was ever so fat."I can't believe I was a fat person for most of my life," says the 40-year-old former talk show host.
How did the star transform her body? There was no surgery, just lots of hard work. Basically, Ricki stays active and eats right -- she sticks to fresh, organic meals delivered by a service called Fresh Dining. And she has no plans for pigging out on Christmas, because she doesn't want to balloon and gain weight ever again. Perhaps peer pressure will keep her on her toes. "According to Hollywood standards, I'm not a thin girl," she says. "I'm a normal girl."
Normal looks pretty good on Ricki, doesn't it?
Your Turn: Best celeb slim-downs in 2007
Your Turn, Celebs & Entertainment
Here at That's Fit, we're constantly telling you what we think about things, but sometimes it's nice to know what you think. So from time to time, we'll ask you a question. Don't be afraid to speak up -- we love feedback.
2007 was the year that many celebrities got fit and slim. And you know what? Good for them. Losing weight takes hard work and dedication, whether you're a celebrity or not. Some stars battled the baby weight, while some simply decided to tone up and trim down. In any case, here are some of my favourite celeb slim-downs -- let me know who tops your list, either by voting below or leaving a comment:

'Born' en route to theaters
Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment, Alternative & Green Health, Nutrition & Supplements
The Business of Being Born is about just that. But it's just as much a statement that the Feminist Movement is far from finished and many women aren't informed enough to continue the plight. The film itself could change that as it offers viewers a vast education on why the treatment of pregnant women during childbirth isn't just sexist, but costly and dangerous for them and their children all in the name of doctors keeping their jobs and covering their back sides.
I caught a screening of the Ricki Lake production last night. It was one of several that are part of an Oscar qualifying run in advance of a planned January theatrical run in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The movie reflects the ignorance of many American women regarding childbirth and chronicles how informed mothers' desires and questions are systematically ignored, ridiculed and at times downright demeaned before they are given a series of unnecessary medical procedures and drugs in the name of the supposed safety of their babies. Specifically, the film examines normal, healthy women undergoing traditional hospital birth amid a rising Cesarean section rate in the Unites States versus at home with a midwife's assistance.

Celebrity diets are a constant source of fascination -- we all want to know how the hottest stars achieved their shapely figure, and more importantly, how we can do it ourselves to look as good as them. But the Celebrity Diet Doctor has taken it a step further by rating the diets of many of our favourite celebs. Here's who made the list:
- Best: Jessica Simpson, Andrea Baptiste, Lenny Clarke from Rescue Me and Ricki Lake
- Worst: Kirstie Alley, Doctor Phil, Beyonce, Ashanti and Britney Spears.

Ricki Lake on staying slim
The kids of today might not know who Ricki Lake is, but I remember when the plump and cute talk show host was the talk of the TV world. She hasn't been around much these days, but recently made a reappearance in tabloid magazines -- looking half her size. How did she do it? According to the Skinny Website, she has fresh, organic food delivered to her, and she eats about 1200 calories a day. She also works out with a trainer at least three times a week and hikes and swims in her spare time. And all her hard work has paid off -- she's a size two and, in her words, she 'can't be any smaller.'
Losing weight is hard work, but wouldn't it be easier if we could all afford to get fresh meals delivered to us? What do you think about Ricki's weight loss?
