Healthy eating tip: Skip the tortilla when eating Mexican
So if it's Mexican you love, here are some suggestions: Get your fix in salad form, without the tortilla or taco shell. Trade re-fried beans for regular beans (like black beans). Use low-fat cheese and sour cream in moderation, and choose lean protein sources, like chicken breast. I cook mine with Tex Mex spice and it's delicious.

What's your favorite Mexican-style dish? For me it's tacos, with either a hard shell or a soft one, loaded up with seasoned chicken breast, fresh veggies, a bit of cheese and some spicy salsa. Turns out I'm making a healthy choice, according to this article which names the worst and best Mexican dishes. Sadly, quesadillas, another fave, made the worst list, as did anything with refried beans.
Here's a tip: to lower the calorie count in your favorite dish, try replacing the cheese, refried beans or full-fat sour cream with salsa, veggies or guacamole. Your hips will thank you.
