Rebecca Romijn feels like a beached whale

Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment

Martha tells us that some women, like Grey's Anantomy star Katherine Heigl, consider not having babies because they don't want to gain weight. Not the case for others, like Ugly Betty mom-to-be Rebecca Romijn who has taken the plunge -- two baby girls are on the way -- and has, yes, definitely gained some weight and is feeling, well, something like a beached whale.

Says Rebecca for Page Six magazine (online this Monday): "I can't move anymore... I'm a beached whale! I have not been without a bra this entire pregnancy. I refuse. I'm not taking any chances. I'm determined to keep the puppies up!"

Weight gain is hard -- even if it for a blessed occasion like birthing a baby. But you know what? It's so worth it, especially when the weight melts away (it's possible with the right amount of diet and exercise, you know?) and the babies stick around for the long and happy haul. I think Rebecca will agree -- and for some reason, I get the feeling she'll whip that body (which doesn't happen to look much like a whale to me) right back into shape, just like these celebrities did.

O'Connell apologizes for "huge" mistake

Celebs & Entertainment

Actor Jerry O'Connell has been talking a lot lately about his pregnant-with-twin-girls wife Rebecca Romijn. We told you he was on the run for her cravings in this post, and now we hear he's been commenting about her size with Conan O'Brien on late-night TV. "Huge," he called her.

O'Connell has issued a big fat apology to his Ugly Betty-starring wife: "I meant to say that there are specific areas of my wife that are larger than normal and growing every day. All other portions of my wife are quite petite. I apologize to her and will be coming home with flowers."

Good boy.

Jerry on the run for Rebecca's cravings

Celebs & Entertainment, Nutrition & Supplements

Jerry O'Connell isn't just running races lately -- he ran Sunday in the 6.2-mile Nike + Human Race in Los Angeles. He's also on the run for wife Rebecca Romijn whose pregnancy cravings have him plenty busy.

Lemonade and soy cream cheese -- do you know how hard it is to find soy cream cheese, says O'Connell -- are tops on Romijn's list of must-have foods. Ah, food. Everything centers around food.

"Meals are not missed," jokes O'Connell. "We promptly hit them and if we're a little late, then ... somebody's not happy."

What did this dad in training -- twin girls are on the way -- do to prep himself for the L.A. 10K? He didn't hire a trainer. He just went running solo. O'Connell tells others: "If you want to get in shape, I highly suggest jumping into a race like this. It forces you to get out of bed in the morning and really motivates you."

We Love To Gawk At Fit Celebs Weekly Round-up: August 1, 2008

We Love To Gawk At Fit Celebs Weekly Roundup, Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

Helen Mirren showed the world that sex appeal doesn't end at a certain age. When photos popped up of her in a bikini, the internet went into a frenzy -- who knew 63 could look so good?

Speaking of bodies that look great in a bikini, Anna Kournikova seems to added some of her signature curves back to her figure. When she took part in a triathlon earlier this year, many spoke up about how tiny and thin she looked, but in recent photos, her body is more like what we've come to expect, and she looks gorgeous.

Anna isn't the only celeb who's trained for a triathlon -- Jennifer Lopez is training for a triathlon, to take place this October. The workouts are helping her lose the weight she put on when carrying her twins, and she's already looking slender.

Rebecca Romijn loves food, her body too

Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

Ugly Betty actress Rebecca Romijn loves food. And of late, she loves her body too. It wasn't always this way, though, says the 34-year-old one-time supermodel.

As a teen, Romijn suffered from scoliosis and never really exercised. Then some priceless advice came her way when fashion icon Elle MacPherson told her, "You have a nice body. You should really take better care of it."

It was the best advice Romijn ever got. And now she keeps a good workout regimen. About her weight, she says: "I'm not model-thin anymore, but that's fine. I've earned everything I have, and I feel great."

  • Get up early -- Rebecca Romijn
  • Make time for yoga every day -- Minnie Driver
  • Do what you can and don't beat yourself up if you don't make it to the gym -- Meredith Vieira
  • Have an exercise machine in your office -- Courteney Cox
