No time for workouts? You aren't alone

Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness

If you made New Year's resolutions, getting more exercise may well have topped your list. If you're a lapsed exerciser who has trouble fitting exercise into a busy schedule, then you'll appreciate this confessional from Self.

I can definitely relate. The years I got the most exercise also happened to coincide with the years I was single, working 9-4 every day. I'd workout in the morning, and sometimes stop at the gym again on my way home. Today, the idea of a gym membership sounds like a good idea, but in practice I'm better off trying to squeeze in workouts on my own turf -- my living room or my surrounding neighborhood sidewalks and trails.

If exercise is your focus in the New Year, try to remember that a workout isn't all or nothing. If you can't make it to the gym, a brisk 30-minute walk after dinner will make a decent stand-in until you can make time for more vigorous activity. Just keep moving, and you'll move closer to your goal.
