Valerie Bertinelli says Kirstie Alley is not fat
Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment
Forget about any fat photos you've seen of Kirstie Alley lately. Valerie Bertinelli says her friend and fellow Jenny Craig spokeswoman is not packing on the pounds."I don't know what those photographs might say, and I don't necessarily see a lot of them," says Bertinelli. "I have heard of them, but I disagree. When I have been with Kirstie, she looks terrific."
Who knows what's going on. Maybe Alley is gaining back some of the weight she lost on the Jenny Craig program. Maybe the photographs splashed on across the Internet and on the pages of magazines were taken from bad angles -- hey, I've been a victim of a not-so-flattering photo on many an occasion. Maybe the media just needs to stir up some controversy in skinny Hollywood and Alley is their target. Something tells me Alley isn't so concerned about what the public thinks. She seems a pretty tough gal who is usually pretty happy in her skin, no matter it's size or shape.
Kirstie Alley's next step: Her own diet brand

This just in: Kirstie Alley is headed for a new weight loss gig now that she's parted ways with Jenny Craig after a three-year relationship. Alley, 57, hopes to pilot her own weight loss brand to launch in 2009. No hard feelings about Jenny Craig, she says, as she heads down her new hopeful path.
"I want to create something new that will help millions of people end the seemingly never ending fatty-roller coaster ride," reports Alley who acknowledges she and the Jenny Craig company did not come to an agreement about her continuing as their spokesperson.
Says Alley in a statement about her weight loss venture: There was a time when America was not fat, and that was in our not-so-distant past. I'm confident that I can create something exciting and innovative: something that if all goes well, will help change a fat America back into a fit America and will offer this country the healthiest, yummiest, easiest and most effective weight-loss program on the market.
No more Jenny Craig for Kirstie Alley

It's been three years since Kirstie Alley signed on as a spokesmodel for the Jenny Craig weight-loss program, which helped her shed 75 pounds and gave her the courage to strut her bikini stuff in front of a live Oprah audience. Now, it's time for the actress to step aside.Alley, who has maintained her weight loss for more than one year and remains on Jenny Craig's maintenance program, passes her torch to former One Day at a Time star Valerie Bertinelli who has successfully lost more than 30 pounds. Queen Latifah also joins the Jenny Craig cast as the new face of 2008.
Alley says she's thankful for the opportunity to help so many other people lose weight and keep it off.
Kirstie Alley: Where are my fat pants? (Video)
Ever had a morning like this, where nothing seems to fit and all you want are your comfy, roomy 'fat pants'? Ah, yes. I think we've all been there at some point or another. Kudos to Kristie Alley for having the guts to laugh at herself.
It's been a year since Kirstie Alley lost 75 lbs, so she's the one laughing now at all the naysayers. Even we had our doubts, but she's seemed to prove everyone wrong. For some tips on maintaining weight loss, check out Kirstie's Video Blog.
What do you think of Kirstie's weight loss?
Has Kirstie Alley gained the weight back?
After famously showing off her new body in front of thousands on 'Oprah' ... in her bikini, Kirstie Alley might be falling victim to a problem that many people who lose weight have -- gaining it all back. Pictures of her have surfaced recently, depicting what many believe to be a heavier Kirstie than the one who appeared on 'Oprah.' And not that I'm a celebrity gossip expert or anything, but she seems to be keeping a low profile these days -- I haven't seen her anywhere except for the occasional Jenny Craig commercial with Valerie Bertinelli.
I think Kirstie looks great after her weight-loss, and for her health's sake, I hope she can maintain it. But just because she's taken a few unflattering photos, it doesn't mean that she's fallen off the wagon. Maybe we should give her the benefit of the doubt.

Jenny Craig's latest diet spokesperson: Valerie Bertinelli
She graced the cover of PEOPLE magazine last week -- 80s TV star Valerie Bertinelli is on a promotional kick to let people know that she is the new Kirstie Alley, as in the new TV icon whose turned to Jenny Craig for help with her weight (and her career slump as well?) Bertinelli says she's doing the whole weight loss thing in the public eye because she's just like everyone else -- a working mum. Jenny Craig is a popular weight-loss program that uses pre-packed foods to aid in weightloss, though how that kind of diet plan pays off during the maintenance phase of the diet is unclear to me. What's also unclear is if she too will appear on Oprah in her bikini.
What do you think ... is she an inspiration to all or just money and publicity-hungry?
