Ellen Stays in Shape With the Hawaii Chair

Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

Ever noticed that female talk show hosts are not the slimmest bunch of celebs? Well, we'll leave Kelly Ripa out of this discussion, because she is obviously not your average mom of three kids -- have you seen her body lately? But Oprah, Rachael Ray, Ellen, and remember Rosie? Now, these are my kind of girls. They look more like me than Heidi Klum does (so not right, that body of hers) and Jessica Alba (even an inspiring photo of her in my gym bag wouldn't do the trick, I'm afraid). Real, these women are. And that's why I like them.

Ellen is my favorite. Check her out in this video, promoting (well, kind of) the Hawaii chair for fitness. If laughing counts as a weight-loss technique, then I just dropped a few pounds.

Kelly Ripa gets ripped with these 6 moves

Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

Kelly Ripa Kelly Ripa looks pretty darn great. Kelly's fit frame has graced the cover of not one, but two fitness magazines. (Though I don't understand why Shape magazine air-brushed Kelly's cute outie belly-button and made it an innie.)

Now, you can try these six moves that help keep Kelly in shape:

  • Triceps can-can. Like Kelly, this move is a little quirky and a lot of fun. But it definitely works your triceps, quads, and abs, too.
  • Leg raise. You'll need a counter or tall chair for balance with this move, which works your butt and outer thighs.
  • Thigh dancing. Definitely unusual, Kelly swears this move works her quads, butt, and abs. We've even got her on video doing this move.
  • Pretzel. You'll need some balance and flexibility to do this move, which works your butt, thighs, and abs.
  • Squat with ball squeeze. If, like Kelly Ripa, you're a parent, you probably have more than your fair share of sports balls around the house. Put one of them to use with this move that works your legs, butt, and inner thighs.
  • Rolling crunch. Put a new twist on the standard crunch with this move.

1 more reason to avoid caffeine

Caffeine has had its fair share of bad press in the past, but this one gets the prize ... the booby prize.

A new study reveals that drinking caffeine over an extended period of time can make a woman's breasts shrink. Regis filled Kelly in on the news during a recent episode and said that he thinks cutting back on the coffee "could help." Why? Because as little as three cups of coffee or other caffeinated beverages a day can impact estrogen levels, subsequently causing breasts to shrink. But don't worry too much -- according to the study author, "They will get smaller, but the breasts aren't just going to disappear." Whew! Good to know.

Coffee has some health perks so if you like a cuppa Joe there's no need to avoid it. But maybe you should opt for decaffeinated.
