Stars share healthy kid advice

What do Kate Hudson, Keri Russell, Tobey Maguire, and Gwyneth Paltrow have in common besides their star status? They're all concerned about their kids' safety. And they're all sharing some eco-friendly advice in the new book Healthy Child, Healthy World. Other stars chime in too.

Paltrow shares in the book her recipe for baby Moses's Brown Rice Baby Food. Hudson dishes about her own line of natural hair products and admits she hides veggies in son Ryder's food. Holly Robinson Peete tells how she gets her kids to help with household chores -- using only the greenest of products, of course.

Everything in this book is accessible, reasonable, and doable, says author Christoper Gavigan. It's a book about small changes. It's for everyone, he says. It's also a companion for this website: healthychild.org. Check it out when you can.

We Love To Gawk At Fit Celebs Weekly Roundup: April 4, 2008

Adrian Grenier sprints and lets the paparazzi know that it's "a non-event." I wonder if the girls with him think it's a non-event ...

Julianne Moore told OK magazine that she's "hungry all the time. All actresses are hungry all the time." That seems like quite the generalization, especially considering Sarah Jessica Parker recently came out saying that she eats everything. Who do you believe? SJP might have a ridiculously high metabolism, but I think it's more likely (and really unfortunate) that Julianne probably speaks for more of Hollywood.

Actress Kate Hudson works out all the time

Actress Kate Hudson, who says she isn't worried about being totally perfect, has danced her whole life and she works out all the time too. That's why her body is so, well, perfect.

Hudson, starring with Matthew McConaughey in the movie Fool's Gold, primed her body and prepped for her role by getting certified for scuba on the Great Barrier Reef. It took her a couple of weeks to accomplish this feat. It took McConaughey five seconds, she says.

Yep, those Fool's Gold diving scenes are the real deal. So is Hudson's physique.

How stars battle cellulite

Cellulite is something that affects almost every woman out there -- even seemingly perfect celebrities. Jessica Simpson, Kate Hudson and Mischa Barton are among those who are plagued with cottage cheese flab, according to Life & Style Magazine. But cellulite doesn't always have the final word; Here are some tips for avoiding it or getting rid of it:
  • Do like Jessica Simpson and choose only sugar-free drinks
  • Do like Kate Hudson and get some exercise in -- though exercise alone won't make all the difference
  • Do as Mischa Barton does and eat a diet low in fat and high in estrogen.
Good advice? What do you think?

Fit Mama: The hills are alive...

This is pretty sad. I am just now getting to the point where I can post what I've written below. Between being a mommy, taking a road trip to see the families, taking the kiddo to the doctor twice about a face rash and trying to get my life in order (I recently got a new job) I've had precious little time to exercise, and even less time to write about it!

That said, and without further ado, I would like to point out that although it's been, er, steep, I have kept running....

The hills in Prospect Park are alive...with the sound of my grunting as I shimmy up them. I wouldn't exactly say I run up these hills, but I'm not walking either. It's tough getting back in shape after a baby, and these hills are a constant reminder of that.

Still, progress has been made. I am able to get up the hills, even the big one that is such a nemesis we've given her a name, Sheila. Sheila has three curves to her, the third of which is hidden until you make it to the top of the second curve, which is also the steepest. What's interesting to me is that Sheila is my enemy no more.

How'd they do it? Celeb Moms and their slim-down secrets

I've never had a baby but since I have enough trouble getting rid of that extra 10 pounds I gained on my trip to Greece (Oh, gyros, you are pure, tasty evil), I can only imagine how hard it would be to lose an extra 30 pounds. How do moms do it?

AOL Body has put together the slimming secrets of some top celebrity moms. Among them: Heidi Klum, who used a personal trainer and the 3-Hor Diet; Kate Winslet used some British weightloss plan called the Facial Analysis Diet (umm, have to look that one up!); Reese Witherspoon ate healthfully and did yoga; Denise Richards used the Zone; and Kate Hudson went high-protein, low-carb.

How did you lose the baby weight?
