Beyoncé says it was tasty gaining 15 pounds

Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment

Beyoncé gained 15 pounds recently and boy, was it tasty, says the 27-year-old superstar.

Gaining weight is so much easier -- and tastier -- than losing it, remarks Beyoncé. The girl knows what she's talking about -- she had to drop a bunch of weight for her role in Dreamgirls, and she just packed on those 15 for her upcoming movie Cadillac Records. Beyoncé plays soul singer Etta James in the film.

Yes, gaining weight is easier than losing it. It tastes good too. Still, I wouldn't want to do it, even if it was part of my job description. There's just something about feeling good in my skin that's a whole lot yummier than packing on the pounds. What do you think?

Is Dancing with the Stars pro getting fat?

Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment, Nutrition & Supplements

It's official. Dancing with the Stars pro Cheryl Burke is fat, announces this blogger, who shares photos of an apparently curvier Burke in a pretty skimpy bikini and cautions that while it's pretty obvious Burke has put on a few pounds, Hollywood fat is not exactly regular-people fat.

According to this blog, Burke, 24, sometimes does gain weight. When she's dancing on the show, she works her butt off. When she's on hiatus, she indulges -- chips and guacamole are favorites. Still, she's healthy. Still, she's a size four. Fat? I don't think so. Her DWTS pals agree -- they told co-host and E! News gal Samantha Harris that Burke is extremely sexy and beautiful.

Burke herself says she did in fact gain some weight over the summer -- her whole story will soon appear in PEOPLE magazine -- but all the mocking she's encountering has left her in tears. In the words of Burke's dancing friends who speak to the masses about their weight watching: Lay off!

Weight loss common in stroke survivors

Nutrition & Supplements

feet on a scaleRecently, a That's Fit reader sent us a question. Several years ago she had a stroke. Since then she has lost too much weight and was looking for advice on gaining weight healthfully. It's such a great question. So often health and wellness sites focus on tips for weight loss, but anyone who's on the other side of the scale needs help, too. Just like there are unhealthy ways to lose weight, there are also unhealthy ways to gain it. It's important to work with a professional to gain weight healthfully.

Weight loss is common in stroke survivors. In fact, a cousin of mine had a stroke a couple of years ago and has subsequently lost far too much weight. While the reasons could be different for every survivor, some possible reasons for weight loss include difficulty swallowing, depression, decreased food intake, and neurological conditions that make eating difficult.

If you or someone you know is a stroke survivor and has experienced severe weight loss, the first step is to see your doctor. Your doctor will likely run tests to verify that there is nothing else that's causing the weight loss. If no other issues are discovered, you will likely be referred to a registered dietitian. An RD can give you personalized advice on how to gain weight healthfully and maintain that weight gain. The American Stroke Association has more information for living a healthy life after a stroke.
