Get rid of your "dirty" pain

Motivation

In the dieting and nutrition world, many people I have talked to believe they fail at dieting long-term because of emotional reasons rather than physical reasons. Food memories are often cited, and it's one of the harder obstacles in turning around one's nutrition lifestyle.

But, the mind is not limited to only hampering your abilities to eat right and become more healthy, nutrition-wise. "Dirty" pain is the emotional pain we feel when something goes wrong, and it sometimes spills over into mild depression. As in, "something goes wrong because I am a bad person."

Psychologists single out this "dirty" pain from "clean" pain, which is the physical pain felt when something hurts us. When "clean" pain happens, most people get over it (a small injury, for example). For those who let "dirty" pain linger on and on, psychologists suggest you learn to detach from those judgmental thoughts. Ever use words like "should" or "ought?" Those are signs of feeling this kind of pain -- the dirty kind. How often do you feel it?
