Oxygen's "Dance Your Ass Off" Premieres

Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment

Meet your host, Marissa Jaret Winokur.

Host Marissa Jaret Winokur calls Oxygen's latest reality TV series "Dance Your Ass Off" a "cross between "Dancing with the Stars" and "The Biggest Loser."

And she should know. Not only is Winokur blogging her own weight loss at People.com, she's also a "Dancing with the Stars" alum.

Here's how it works: According to the website, 12 finalists (totaling 3,000 pounds) will "shake and rattle their rolls" with a professional partner. They'll be judged each week on both their dancing ability and their weight loss. Plenty of DWTS contestants have raved about how fit they were after their run on the show, so we'll see if dancing can do the same for this crew.

Shawn Johnson Dishes on "Dancing"

Celebs & Entertainment

You'd think an Olympic gold medalist would be immune to all the aches and pains the contestants on this season of "Dancing with the Stars" have endured. But it turns out even the youngest -- and arguably the most in shape -- found all those mambos and waltzes to be physically demanding. Watch our interview with Shawn and her dancing partner, Mark Ballas, as they share what their biggest challenges this season have been, their surprising backstage snacks and why Shawn feels so good about her body.

Denise Richards on DWTS
From Cheryl Burke's perfect back to Edyta Sliwinska's legs that go for days, it's not terribly surprising that the professional dancers on "Dancing With the Stars" have rocking bodies. But what I love to see on the show are the celebs who shed pounds and really get in shape while quick stepping and fox trotting.

Most of the celebrities on the show are still keeping up with their other jobs. When Cameron Mathison was on the show, he was flying from west coast to east coast in order to be on DWTS and "All My Children." So how do the stars keep up with the rigorous training schedule and still find time to give their bodies the proper fuel?

Many of the celebs rely on a food delivery service called Freshology. Lil' Kim loves the convenience of the calorie-controlled meals. Past DWTS contestants and Freshology customers include Melanie Brown, Mario Lopez, Marlee Matlin, Laila Ali and Stacy Kiebler. Long before she donned the skimpy DWTS costumes, Denise Richards used the program to shed her pregnancy weight. Even host Samantha Harris has used Freshology's programs to look great in front of the camera.

You might not be dancing on TV, but would you use a food delivery service?

Cheryl Burke Launches Activewear Line

Reviews & Products

cheryl burke"Dancing With the Stars" mania is in full force. Admit it -- you've found yourself dancing your way around the kitchen more than once since the season started last week. I know I have! Anyway, now, you have the opportunity to look like you belong on the dance floor, even if your two left feet say otherwise.

Cheryl Burke has come out with a line of activewear for Fit Couture. And, as you would expect from a dancer, the pieces are designed to move with you, so whether you're shaking your hips in a salsa class or sweating it up on the Stairmaster, you can expect your shirt to stay put.

Burke told "People" magazine that she'd always wanted to have a clothing line, explaining, "I'm so into being comfortable, and these pieces are just that. I like to wear layers ... when I work out. These pieces move with you. The shirts are extra long so they don't ride up and the pants have a fold-over waistband that feels snug but not restricting."

"Dancing" Star Reveals Why He Looks Great Naked

Celebrity Fitzness Report, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

Curious to know how celebrities squeeze fitness into their daily lives? Our fitness expert Fitz sits down with the stars and digs out their great and not-so-great methods for staying healthy.

This week I interviewed an American Gold Medalist and the most famous naked man of 2008. Shawn Johnson and Gilles Marini are two of the strongest competitors on ABC's hit show "Dancing with the Stars," and they have two of the best bodies as well. We all know Shawn's a fierce athlete and Gilles ... well, we all know that he looks spectacular in the buff.

Gilles made us drool as Samantha's sexy neighbor in the "Sex and the City" movie, and he reveals to us his secret to staying outrageously lean and muscular. Shawn divulged what shocked her about ballroom dancing and whether or not she expects to bring home that disco ball trophy. If nothing else has inspired you to become more fit, these two sure will!

Hottest Celeb Guys

    By Mary Kearl

    12: Kevin Eubanks

Kevin Eubanks has made his name as a jazz musician as the leader of Jay Leno's Tonight Show's band. Now he has gained recognition for his healthy vegetarian lifestyle by being voted PETA's World's Sexiest Vegetarian man in 2007. Eubanks' reason for choosing this lifestyle? "Every night before the show, I make sure [my] guitar is perfectly tuned," he has said. "And every day, I do the same for my body -- with healthy, vegetarian meals. It's the easiest way to stay fit and feel great."

    7: Matt Damon

This cutie has been known to do some crazy yo-yo dieting for movie roles. But we love Matt Damon for bulking up for his lead role in 'The Bourne Identity' series -- becoming Jason Bourne required months of training in kickboxing, martial arts, and weaponry. Director Paul Greengrass has called Damon an "amazing sportsman" -- and we couldn't agree more.

    6: David Beckham

You know the accolades -- two-time finalist for FIFA World Player of the year, one of the highest paid "football" players, Posh Spice's man-candy, object of lust of every other female. AOL Body loves David Beckham because he's supportive of his wife's fitness goals -- and 'cause he's willing to push himself to that next level of fitness. We hear he does running sessions on sand -- on top of his regular workouts -- yikes!

    4: Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt has a slew of workouts and websites dedicated to honoring his celeb fitness status: BradPittWorkout.com, Brad Pitt's "Troy Workout," and "How to Be Ripped Like Brad Pitt (Tyler Durden) From Fight Club in 12 Weeks Or Less." Each includes a mix of aerobic intensity and strength training, targeting back, arms, shoulders, and naturally, ab muscles. These days, however, Pitt has put his celeb life on pause for the concern of others' health, donating a reported $1 million to Doctors Without Borders, which Pitt has said was good for his health too. "It's personally rewarding when you see lives change because of an action you take that, though simple for you, means so much to others. You sleep peacefully at night."

    3: Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey is the hottest poster boy for outdoor fitness we know. Whether running, biking, hiking, or swimming, he always seems to be workin' it outdoors (how else could we see so many shirtless paparazzi pics?). But lately we hear he's taken up an even rougher and tougher workout -- stand up paddle surfing -- a variation of surfing that gives his whole body a workout. Hey, whatever he's doing, he can keep on doing it.

    1: Will Smith

We've always loved this Bad Boy's legendary abs and toned arms. True to form, Will Smith has written song lyrics that explain his mantra for fitness and life: "The key to life is on a treadmill." Or, as he told 'Reader's Digest,' "When I say I am going to run three miles, I run five. With that mentality, it is actually difficult to lose."?We couldn't have said it better.

Dancing With The Stars Ab Workout

Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

In just a little more than a week, "Dancing with the Stars" will kick off its new season, filling my TV with almost-forgotten B-listers, an obscene amount of sequins and a whole lot of spray tan. Look, I like seeing a linebacker attempt the cha-cha as much as the next person, but one thing I really love about this show is watching how the contestants' bodies transform over the course of the season. So what do the professional dancers do to get their celeb partners in tip-top shape? I chatted with Lacey Schwimmer (shown here with Lance Bass) to find out how she and new partner Steve-O are getting ready for the competition.

Me: Dancers are known for their fabulous bodies, and you're no exception. Is there anything you've been doing to get in even better shape before the season starts?

Lacey: Before I go into a competition, I always try to eat right. I cut out soda and replaced it with water about a month ago and I've already lost four pounds and feel amazing.

Me: Anything in particular you and Steve-O are working on while you're training?

Lacey: Yes! When we started Steve-O told me 'I have flabs -- abs with fat on top of them.' So we've been doing 100 sit ups before we practice every day. And I really like having someone to work out with, so we've been motivating each other.

Me: OK, so tell us about your ab routine so the That's Fit readers can get rid of their 'flabs.'

Dancing With the Stars Season 8 - Who Will Blast the Fat This Time Around?

Fitness

Steve WozniakDancing with the Stars has become as known for its, well, dancing (obviously) as it has its tendency to whip a few butts into shape. 90210 favorite Jennie Garth swears by the fitness benefits of DWTS -- she dropped a bunch of weight and slinked back into her skinny jeans after her season on the dance floor. The hard-core dance training was just so much better than Jennie's usual pilates and cardio sessions.

Another DWTS season looms on the horizon, which means a whole new batch of celebs are headed for the workout that tops all workouts. I don't know about you, but I can't wait to watch the body transformations unfold.

Take a look at the newly-revealed cast in the poll below and tell us whose body you most want to watch when the dance begins on ABC on March 9. Many contestants already look great and will only get better. A few have some progress to make. And I'm thinking Steve Wozniak, Apple guru and friend of Kathy Griffin, has a lot to gain -- well, lose.

Kevin Federline to Join Dancing With the Stars?

Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

kevin federlineGot a big ol' boulder of salt handy? Good -- take this news with it. Star magazine is reporting that Kevin Federline is looking to join Dancing With the Stars.

Now, he was a backup dancer at one point, so he might actually be pretty good on the show. And the contestants tend to drop a lot of weight -- something he could really stand to do. However, there's one problem -- aren't you supposed to actually be, you know, a star?

Sounds like that workout DVD isn't working out, but let's hope K-Fed starts working out anyway. Rumor has it he'll be following his ex, Britney, while she's on tour, so perhaps her rockin' new bod will inspire him to bust a move of his own. Even if he's not being filmed or getting paid to do it.

Cheryl Burke is Hustlin' for Abs

Celebrity Fitzness Report, Diet & Weight Loss, Celebs & Entertainment

Curious to know how celebrities squeeze fitness into their daily lives? Want to know the secrets of the stars? Bi-weekly our That's Fit fitness expert Fitz sits down with the celebs we want to know more about, and digs out their great and not-so-great methods to staying healthy.

Two-time Dancing with the Stars Champion Cheryl Burke has had quite a year. Five tiny pounds on her little dancer's body caused tabloid hysteria, and now she's starring in her own series of workout DVDs called Disco Abs. She came clean with me on the inspiration behind this belly blasting workout, her infamous weight gain, and who she'd love to partner up with on DWTS. She even shares expert advice on dancing in stilettos; definitely read it before you try it.

Fitz: Tell me about Disco Abs.

Cheryl: It's a series of three workout DVD's set to disco music. The workouts are based on a bunch of fun dance moves, and that's what I love most about them. They're so much fun that you forget you're working really hard.

Fitz: Fun is vital to people sticking with it. And what component is directly geared towards abdominal training?

Dancing - The Celebrity Secret to Being Slim, Rich and Happy?

The Passion Principle, Fitness, Motivation

Every Monday, That's Fit's very own "charged up" wellness guru Laura Lewis presents The Passion Principle, a weekly guide that will help you achieve your greatest potential through words of inspiration, cutting-edge ideas and action tips you can use in your every day life!

Do celebs benefit from dancing in ways other than just having a good time at some of the coolest clubs around? As a person who loves to dance, yet one who is also interested in how positive thoughts and feelings can impact our lives, I have pondered if celebrities who frequent the nocturnal world of dance clubs may use it as a means to not only stay fit, but to also stay in a positive frame of mind.

Now why would I want to ponder that idea? Because I am a firm believer, along with many others like Bob Proctor, John Assar, Louise Hay and even Joel Osteen, that being in a positive frame of mind can affect what you attract into your life. I cannot help but believe that dancing and movement in general makes you feel happy, and can help you to not only burn calories but also help you attract positive people, circumstances and opportunities into your life.

Sherri Shepherd Wants to Dance

Celebs & Entertainment

Sherri ShepherdThe new season of Dancing With the Stars will air on March 9th. So now the question is ... which stars will show us their moves? We love watching the stars get fit and improve their dance moves during the course of the season ... it's like boot camp with sequins and heels.

Sherri Shepherd, co-host of The View, is a possibility. InTouch magazine reports that ABC is interested in having Shepherd on the show, and Shepherd is on board with that idea. But the funny lady sounds as interested in the dancers as in dancing. Shepherd said "Oh, my goodness! I am so in love with Maksim [Chmerkovskiy], but he's engaged! And Tony Dovolani's married! I mean, they're all freakin' taken! I just want to get a 'pas doble' with somebody on that show!"

Rumor has it that Stevie Wonder is also in consideration.

Paulina Porizkova Shares Her Fitness Tips

Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

Paulina PorizkovaI'll admit it. I'm an America's Next Top Model junkie. I'm not proud, but there you have it. While Twiggy was sweet and utterly likable as a judge, I have to admit that I prefer Paulina Porizkova behind the table. She's honest and doesn't hedge around when a photo isn't good.

Porizkova, 43, earned her spot behind the ANTM desk; she started her own modeling career in 1980 and is arguably one of the most successful models of all time. Porizkova also appeared on the fourth season of Dancing With the Stars -- an experience she says got her into the best shape of her life.

Porizkova chatted with Everyday Health about her fitness routine. She said she started exercising regularly after she quit smoking and gained a few pounds. She likes to take fitness classes such as karate and says that exercise has improved her mood as much as her body.

Will Donny Osmond Join the Cast of Dancing with the Stars

Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

donny osmonLast week, I had an exclusive interview with the one and only Donny Osmond. He's currently co hosting ABC's new show Rediscovered, and I thought it would be appropriate to ask what everyone else is probably wondering: "Are you planning on following Marie's footsteps and joining the cast of Dancing with the Stars?"

When Marie competed last year, Donny seemed to spend just as much time on the show throwing in his two cents. He obviously has rhythm and is no stranger to the stage, so why wouldn't he take a stab at that fancy disco ball trophy?

Maybe Donny is afraid of not getting as far in the competition as his sister did? Maybe he's worried about not doing those glittery costumes justice? He's asked this question every day, but until we spoke on the phone, I had never heard him give a definitive answer.
