Britney Spears Shows Off Her Abs

Celebs & Entertainment

Britney Spears
Britney Spears is getting ready for her upcoming tour which kicks off on March 3rd. I don't know about the choreography and everything else that goes into getting ready for a tour, but Brit's abs sure look ready to go.

As far as fitness goes, Britney is really the come-back kid. After her zoned-out performance at the 2007 VMA awards, she caught a lot of flack for being overweight. In my opinion, though she had definitely gained pounds, she didn't look that overweight; her spacey behavior was far more concerning to me.

Britney cut out Cheetos and Red Bull and switched to healthy foods. She started dancing again and spent a lot of time at the gym. She said getting in shape again was hard work, but it made her feel good. It sure made her look good, too.

Cardio and Core Training with Donny Osmond

Celebrity Fitzness Report, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

Today I chatted with Donny Osmond. That almost feels silly to say. Not that he's silly, but because he's been a part of my life for about as long as Santa Claus has. Fortunately, I like him even more now than I did a few hours ago. Donny has spent his entire career in the spotlight, and at 51 years of age, he looks just about as great as he ever has.

donny osmondHe's performing in Vegas right now and hosting a new show on ABC called Rediscovered, airing December 22 at 9 PM ET, which sounds pretty fun. Rediscovered gives adults who unsuccessfully auditioned to be a Mouseketeer 20 years ago a second chance at stardom and a $50,000 prize. Donny and Marie were sold on the concept and are enjoying the opportunity to see these "regular people" shine on stage. Read on to learn more about the show, how Donny stays fit, and whether or not he's going to take his shot at Dancing With the Stars!

Fitz: So you're back on prime-time television. What drew you to Rediscovered?

Donny: Marie and I just loved the concept. It's been amazing to see these regular people dragged out of their normal lives and put back on the stage. The show is fun, the audiences have been really receptive and the contestants have proven to be terrific.

Fitz: Since the contestants haven't been performing for a living, are any of them disastrously horrible?

Britney Spears - Dancing is the Best Therapy

Celebs & Entertainment

From tubby to trim, awful to awesome, head-case to hubba hubba, Britney Spears has been on a crazy journey over the last few years, but she's made a pretty spectacular comeback. She's looking great, her career seems to be back on track and she hasn't done any bizarre publicity stunts in ages. Does Spears credit her recent sanity to a good shrink or a stint in rehab? Nah -- in a recent interview, she admitted that dancing is the best therapy.

"Everybody has a world that they create around themselves. If I have a lot of nervous energy, when I start dancing it goes away and I just feel emotion. It's like a rollercoaster," says the songstress. "People think that if you go through something in your life you need to go to therapy, but for me art is therapy because you are expressing yourself in such a spiritual way."

Britney's definitely on to something here -- dancing is good for the soul and body. Plus it's a really fun way to get fit.

Britney gives up booze, loses 10 pounds

Celebs & Entertainment

Few can deny that Britney Spears is back on the top of her game -- she has given up her old hard-partying ways, gotten her recording career back on track and worked hard to get her famous figure back. Now, with only a few pounds to go before looking as stunning as she did early on in her career, she's given up her final vice -- alcohol -- and it's helped her lose an extra 10 pounds, the Daily Mail reports.

Says a source close to the star: "She has decided to give up drinking alcohol, because not only does it cause weight gain but she wants to be on the ball. Britney has lost 10 pounds since giving up her one remaining vice, which obviously she is ecstatic about."

Britney's got it right -- alcohol is just a bunch of empty calories, so giving it up is important to weight loss.

Britney is working out at Bally's

Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

I almost hate to write a story about Britney Spears. I think the media attention she has gotten is nothing short of disturbing. But it looks like Britney is starting to take positive steps to get herself well again and, for that, I give her kudos.

After an overwhelming dose of Britney at gas stations and convenience stores and malls, it's been good to see that she's been staying out of the papparazzi's camera lenses for a while. And more recent reports show her doing things like going to dance classes. Now, Bally Total Fitness representatives have stated that Britney is working out at two LA-based Bally's gyms.

The 26-year-old singer has hired the company's two top trainers -- she is currently their only client. She's been working out for the past three weeks. The Bally's rep stated that she's been working out up to three times a day. That seems potentially excessive to me, but if she's under the guidance of experienced trainers I'm sure it's all kept in balance with her overall health in mind.

We Love To Gawk At Fit Celebs Weekly Roundup: April 11, 2008

We Love To Gawk At Fit Celebs Weekly Roundup, Celebs & Entertainment

Salma Hayak is human -- she gained a lot of weight while pregnant due to gestational diabetes and hasn't lost it all just yet, but she's not too concerned. As for the weight gain, she said, "This is just what it takes for me to have this baby, and I really want it!" She might not be quite back to the nearly-impossibly hourglass figure she had before becoming pregnant, but she looks healthy and happy.

OK! Magazine did a cover story on how Britney Spears lost 15 pounds -- find out how! Oh, wait ... she didn't. They just used a picture from five years ago to make it look that way. Now, honestly, if she loses weight or not isn't really the issue for Brit right now -- the girl seems to be making some progress mentally and emotionally, and it seems to me like that's where her focus should stay. Keep it up, girl!

Should Jamie Lynn flaunt her growing belly?

Celebrities and Entertainment, Celebs & Entertainment

Should Jamie Lynn Spears, 16 years old and 12 weeks pregnant, show off that growing belly of hers like sister Britney did? Definitely not, says maternity wear designer Liz Lange.

"Britney was into cowboy boots with little dresses,"says Lange. "That was her style. I'd like to see Jamie Lynn go a little plainer. [No] belly baring for her!"

Lange recommends the newly-pregnant Spears look her age.

"She's a young girl, so I would want to keep [her look] innocent," Lange says. "I think little cute dresses and jeans with tight-fitting tee shirts."

As for the magnitude of this life event, Lange says: "I hope she's ready for this -- It's definitely a big step. I know that as a mother myself. But if this is what she wants and what their family wants, then mazel tov."

Q. Greetings Fitz. So far I've lost 25 lbs and have a few more to go to get rid of that annoying belly fat. I'm training for a duathlon. I bike one to two hours a day, run for 30 minutes or so every other day, and workout every other day (different day than running). I'm 155 pounds, 68" and eat about 2,000 calories a day (I keep track in a spreadsheet). So let's say I burn 900 calories/hr biking, 300 calories/half hour running, and some more doing other workout stuff. Is it okay that I only take in 2,000 calories a day? Should I take in more, less, etc? I eat 5-6 small meals a day and am feeling great, but I just want to maximize my effectiveness for fat loss. Thanks, Ryan

A. Wow Ryan! Sounds like you've turned your life all the way around. Going from 180 to 155 is not an easy task, and your exercise routine is really athletic. I'm inspired! The reason your 'belly fat' is taking longer to go away, is because you're nearing your goal weight. It's easy to lose five pounds quickly when you have 35 to lose. When you are nearing true leanness the pounds take a little longer to lose.

2,000 calories a day is not starving in anyone's book. In fact...it's quite enough calories to fill up almost anyone. I'm really not concerned that your body may be in 'starvation mode', especially since you didn't even mention feeling hungry. You are burning a ton of calories it's true, but you shouldn't need to add calories to lose weight. Accept that this process will take time. You're striving to look like an athlete and that is a lofty goal. Not a silly goal.......just a really high one.

Have patience, keep doing what you're doing, and add some intense ab training to your routine. I recommend push-ups, roman-chair leg lifts, and crunches on a stability ball or BOSU. Do this at least every other day. Keep me posted Ryan. Send before and after pictures when you get to your point B. We're all dying to see your new abs! Fitz

Q. Hi Fitz. The world is bashing Britney Spears' body after her performance at the Video Music Awards and now I feel like garbage about mine. I'm no where near as trim as she is. Does she really look that bad? If so......I'm screwed! Is there hope for the non-perfect people? Angelina

Britney blows it at the VMAs

Womens Health, Celebrities and Entertainment, Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

Ahhhh. What a bummer. This is no celeb blog, of course. But after I tucked my kiddies into bed tonight, I was looking forward to sitting down and watching some sort of blow me away performance from what used to be the Princess of Pop. She was the 'big deal' opening act for the MTV Video Music Awards. Britney Spears was a big disappointment. She turned out to be the Princess of Plain tonight.

Obviously the girl is no Celine Dion. Never has been, never will be. But! I can admit to thinking she's been a bit entertaining (in a good way) in the past. Decent voice, great dancer, AMAZING physique. Curvy, strong, slim, but not too skinny.

Tonight.....her lip syncing was off, her dancing was dull, she looked bored and her body just didn't impress as it used to. She's got two beautiful little boys, and that certainly takes it's toll. I suppose I just expect more from this chic famous for her abs. I'd love to get my hands on her; put her through a bit of Fitzness training. Maybe before next year's VMAs she'll give me a call.

Celebrities, addiction, and rehab: What gives?

Celebrities and Entertainment, Celebs & Entertainment

Why does it seem so many celebrities have such a hard time and go to such extremes when it comes to substance abuse and rehab issues? According to the experts, celebrities in general tend to feel protected from life's problems and often have to hit absolute rock bottom before they finally face them. So why do celebrities feel so "protected?" Society catches most of the blame, as experts say celebrities are held less accountable than other people. That, and I think being filthy rich helps too -- they don't have many of same issues the rest of do and in some cases get used to buying their way out of trouble.
