Purified water tastes better

Distilled water, which is the purest water, can actually taste flat because it doesn't have any of the minerals -- sodium, calcium, magnesium, and chlorides give water its flavor. Some tap water has chlorine, which can make it taste bad, but leaving it in a loosely sealed container overnight in the fridge should fix that.
