I guess that's what links are for!

Let's just put it this way, a combination of: fruit, gas, fermentation, constipation, pelvic rotation and inflammation can be causing your back pain. I don't think this article will provide the answer to everyone's back pain, but for some ... maybe so!

The article even suggests that a "pooping situation" or "lack of pooping situation" might be responsible for weight gain. So! Without further a-doodoo, click here.

Ugh! We swim a lot. We live in Florida, and that's what we do almost every day during the summer. Her hair has been pretty green for about two weeks now, and for about the same amount of time I've been looking for the special swimming shampoo that's supposed to get the green out. I checked three pharmacies, one Walmart, and two grocery stores with no success. How frustrating!

Fortunately, today I stumbled across the ultimate score in 'get the green out' shampoos at Target.. Suave has a cute little kids line of hair and body products that are tear-free, smell great, and sell for less than two dollars. And! They've recently added a special shampoo to the line which is designed to remove chlorine from cute little heads of green hair. It's called Suave Swim and Sport Flippin' Citrus 2 in 1 Shampoo for Kids. We've already used it, and we love it! So....if you are Going Green in a way that has nothing to do with the environment......give this stuff a try!

Continue reading Bye bye green hair!

Permalink | Email this | Comments

Total Body Training on the Trail

Filed under: Healthy Aging, Healthy Habits, Healthy Places, Natural Beauty, Stress Reduction, Womens Health, Celebrities and Entertainment, Healthy Products and Reviews, Cellulite, Obesity, Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment, Reviews & Products, Motivation, Alternative & Green Health, Men's Health

Of course going jogging on a trail is a super form of exercise. I specifically like what trails have to offer hips and ankles over a flatter surface. The inconsistency of the trails' surface causes the joints in our lower body to constantly adjust which makes them uniquely beneficial for strengthening hips, knees, and ankles.

Trails are also great for other types of training as well. I think Women's' Health magazine did a super job of taking a few simple items we'd all eventually stumble across while trail running, and turning them into fitness equipment. As your fancy online Fitzness Trainer, these are the types of skills I want you to learn.

Continue reading Total Body Training on the Trail

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Walt Disney World Menus Evolving with Healthful Choices

Filed under: Healthy Aging, Healthy Habits, Healthy Places, Natural Beauty, Organic, Stress Reduction, Vegetarian, Womens Health, HealthWatch, Healthy Recipes, Celebrities and Entertainment, Healthy Kids, Healthy Products and Reviews, Cellulite, Obesity, Healthy Events, Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment, Reviews & Products, Motivation, Alternative & Green Health, Nutrition & Supplements

Since I've been working on a series of stories featuring the efforts being made on behalf of Walt Disney Wold in Florida, to provide healthier meals and a grand assortment of opportunities for physical fitness, I thought I'd share this fantastic press release I received with you. As you read it, think about the other places you patronize throughout the year. Have they taken your health this seriously? I don't believe even the local school board in the county I live in can compete with Disney's efforts on nutritious dining. Read ahead and prepare to be impressed. I'm both in love with the magic of Disney and grateful that the company is showing such high regard for the lives of their guests.

Walt Disney World Menus Evolving with Healthful Choices

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- "Do you want apple slices or fries with that cheeseburger?"

It's all about healthful choices as Walt Disney World quick-service and fast-casual restaurants refine their menus. French fries aren't going away, but menus are being revised with well-balanced options -- at least one low-fat and one vegetarian entrée at all table service restaurants, and side options to include salads and fresh fruit.

I just returned from a five-night, six-day vacation with my husband and two children and was blown away by the amount of physical activity both offered and required of ourselves in order to indulge in the full Disney experience.

We pushed our double-stroller miles through two theme parks, climbed thousands of stairs and jumped an equal amount of waves at two water-parks, danced our tushies off to live bands at various Disney resorts, and played game after game with our children as we giggled, oohed and ahhed at all the Disney magic. As a fitness trainer, one of my biggest obstacles is convincing my clients not to trash their fitness efforts when they head out on vacation. Disney offers the perfect opportunity to not only maintain one's fitness level, but improve it.

The physical adventures are endless, and Disney World has made a deliberate effort to increase the availability of legitimately nutritious, low fat, and lower sugar foods. Fruit stands have popped up all over the theme parks, and children's dining has switched from burgers and fries to grilled chicken with carrots and grapes offered as side dishes. Soda has been dumped for low fat milk! I can't get food that "clean" in my own neighborhood, unless I cook it myself! Of course, the old junkie favorites like popcorn, fries, and ice cream are still available, but if you do care about your health and want to maintain it on vacation ... Disney makes it easy.

Continue reading Walt Disney World: The healthiest place on earth?

Permalink | Email this | Comments

Healthy Hero: Police Lieutenant Rob K.

Filed under: Healthy Aging, Healthy Habits, Natural Beauty, Womens Health, Celebrities and Entertainment, Obesity, Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment, Motivation, Alternative & Green Health, Nutrition & Supplements, Men's Health

Here at That's Fit, we're forever grateful for the service, courage and sacrifice made by the heroic men and women who serve as military, law enforcement officers, and firefighters. We're so grateful, that we'd like to dedicate some features to both showing our heroes off, and learning a little bit in the process as well. Bathers take a soak in hot springs filled with the fish, and are said to only feel a tingling sensation while the tiny fish clear their dead skin away, leaving a fresh layer of healthy skin behind.

Even if the opportunity arose, I'm not sure I'd jump at the chance. Although acupuncture has existed for thousands of years, it's only really been in use here in the U.S. for face lifts for about 20 years or so. And the technique may not be what you expect -- an acupuncture face lift isn't what I pictured at first, which was needles sticking all over a person's face. It's much more complicated and often the needles are put other places on the body based on where the acupuncturist determines the problems (the wrinkles) are originating from.

Have you tried it? Would you try it? Celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Madonna, and Cher apparently have. These products -- that retail anywhere from $30 for a 12-pack of drinks or $25 for "skin-enhancing" gummi bears -- are becoming increasingly popular as they blur the line between cosmetics and food.

But do they work?

Dermatologists aren't so sure -- noting that, while it's certainly possible that certain foods can benefit the skin -- companies that claim a product "contains a revolutionary cultivated bio-vitamin complex which helps the skin regenerate its natural support system, remove toxins and improve the clarity of the dermis" are stretching the truth.

However, Borba (one of the primary producers of edible and drinkable "skin-enhancing" products) claim they've conducted studies that prove their drinks and candies get results.

Have you ever tried to drink or eat something you thought would clear up acne or give you younger looking skin? Did you see results?

You heard me. Stop trying and start doing! If you are truly on a mission to do something about your health, whether it be lose 50 pounds or gain some strength, the time is now. Mulling it over or "thinking about it" never got anyone anywhere. Put your foot down and make it happen. As your new blogging trainer it's my responsibility to set you straight and put you on the right track.

First of all, I've never had anyone experience major fitness success if they didn't put their foot down 100% and commit to making the necessary changes. Those who come to me and say they've been "trying" to get in shape, have basically confessed to accepting failure. Don't wake up tomorrow with the idea of trying to go for a jog. Get up and go for a jog! Put it in your planner and make it happen. Don't try to eat better. Choose the dang soup and salad over the burger and fries. FORCE IT! You have to commit. Trying is for losers. I find it incredibly lame when one of my clients tells me they tried to do the exercise homework I gave them but they didn't because of blah blah blah. Liar! Liar! If my assignment were free tickets to a concert, you bet your booty they would have found a way to be there.

Take my word for it. Getting in great shape is as wonderful as you imagine it to be. Things do come easier. People are nicer. You will be taken more seriously. You won't get sick as often.
