Y Water is looking to tap into more than just the bottled water market by appealing also to the healthy and fit kids market and those shopping for ways to be friendlier to the environment. They offer four specialized low-calorie formulas to target the brain, muscles, bones, and immunity, plus once the water's gone, the leftover bottle (specially created by designer Yves Béhar) can be used as a building block of sorts to make toys and encourage creativity.

Sounds like a great way to get your kids to drink more water and get more vitamins and nutrients, all while helping the environment and stimulating their brains (or at least giving them a few minutes of entertainment).

Via Inhabitat

Gallery: <a href="http://".$GLOBALS["HTTP_HOST"]."/photos/y-water-organic-nutrient-rich-low-calorie/">Y Water: Organic, nutrient rich, low calorie
<a href="http://".$GLOBALS["HTTP_HOST"]."/photos/y-water-organic-nutrient-rich-low-calorie/1059836/"><a href="http://".$GLOBALS["HTTP_HOST"]."/photos/y-water-organic-nutrient-rich-low-calorie/1059835/"><a href="http://".$GLOBALS["HTTP_HOST"]."/photos/y-water-organic-nutrient-rich-low-calorie/1059834/"><a href="http://".$GLOBALS["HTTP_HOST"]."/photos/y-water-organic-nutrient-rich-low-calorie/1059833/"><a href="http://".$GLOBALS["HTTP_HOST"]."/photos/y-water-organic-nutrient-rich-low-calorie/1059839/">

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Daily Fit Tip: Minimalist workouts

Don't have the motivation for daily workouts or the time and money to hire a personal trainer? For example they've figured out that by simply calling a medium a "small," a large a "medium," and creating a new, even bigger "large" size they get people to order more -- i.e. they keep ordering the middle size, which is of course, bigger (and more expensive).

Ugh, I'm so sick of fast food chain games.

Via psfk

Gallery: <a href="http://".$GLOBALS["HTTP_HOST"]."/photos/9-ways-food-labels-mislead/">9 ways food labels mislead
<a href="http://".$GLOBALS["HTTP_HOST"]."/photos/9-ways-food-labels-mislead/959217/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.thatsfit.com/media/2008/08/1430996646_77cda80359_thumbnail.jpg" alt=""Zero trans fats!"" title=""Zero trans fats!"" /><a href="http://".$GLOBALS["HTTP_HOST"]."/photos/9-ways-food-labels-mislead/959216/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.thatsfit.com/media/2008/08/1023897_pills_thumbnail.jpg" alt=""Immunity Boosting!"" title=""Immunity Boosting!"" /><a href="http://".$GLOBALS["HTTP_HOST"]."/photos/9-ways-food-labels-mislead/959215/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.thatsfit.com/media/2008/08/985571_ice_cream_thumbnail.jpg" alt=""Low-Fat!"" title=""Low-Fat!"" /><a href="http://".$GLOBALS["HTTP_HOST"]."/photos/9-ways-food-labels-mislead/959213/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.thatsfit.com/media/2008/08/1033175_orange_juice_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt=""Light" Juice" title=""Light" Juice" /><a href="http://".$GLOBALS["HTTP_HOST"]."/photos/9-ways-food-labels-mislead/959212/">

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Ready to make a change? The exact reasons are different for everybody but one thing is certain: we all spend a lot of time falling into very similar traps.

The best way to avoid them? Face them head on:

Expecting too much/Not expecting enough People who are good at change can see both the short term and long term accurately -- they know what they can do in the next 30 days and in the next 3 months. Be honest and realistic with yourself when setting goals.

Letting others bring you down Those around you might not mean to drag you into the dumps, but seeing you working so hard and being successful could be reminding them of their own short-comings. Refuse to let the negative energy of others affect your positive momentum.

Self-sabotage You might not mean to bring yourself down, either, but all too often we do just that to ourselves. Look deep to see if there are reasons, like fear, that you might be wrecking your own plans.

The key to setting any kind of mood is details details details! Here are 4 tips for getting a mellow mood off and running, or rather, relaxing at your next meal:

Minimize background noise Namely the TV as it 's distracting and can even help spark disagreements.

Set the mood Depending on your family the options are endless -- try setting up nice matching plates and a pretty centerpiece, light candles, have dinner out on the porch or deck, or even plan a picnic-style meal on the floor on pillows and blankets. Whatever will get everyone the most comfortable and relaxed.

Get in the right mindset Take a moment before the start of the meal (and encourage everyone else to do the same) to clear your mind of the day's clutter and focus on the positives in the food and family around the table.

Make cleanup a family affair Everybody should chip in when it comes to cleaning up, even little kids can help bring their dishes into the kitchen when the meal is over.

Most people think labyrinths are a kind of maze that takes thinking and memory to solve, but many labyrinths are just a path that follows a single direction, usually taking the form of concentric circles or a looping pattern. The difference between a maze and many labyrinths is that a labyrinth doesn't have choices, there's only one path in and the same path gets you back out. No dead ends, no tricks, no confusion.

So why is walking one good for you? Because, according to an article in the recent issue of Natural Health, it can be a kind of "moving meditation" that can help you relax, bring you peace, and help relieve stress. There's no trick to doing it right -- just walk in and walk out, at your own pace and in your own way. Wanna try it? Check if there's a labyrinth in your area with The Worldwide Labyrinth Locator.

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Is it safe to eat moldy food if you cut off the bad parts?

When is the last time you pulled something out of the cabinet like a loaf of bread and noticed there was a little moldy spot on one corner? Talk about efficient calorie-burning! But you don't have to be on a crazy athletic training schedule and headed for the Olympics to learn how to burn calories better (although that certainly helps, I'm sure!), just try these 5 tips:

Eat breakfast

Tune in to your body's hunger cues

Drink plenty of water

Encourage healthy bacteria (take probiotics, eat yogurt)

Go heavy on the spices (cayenne pepper, paprika, chili peppers)

Could there really be such a thing? A West Hollywood restaurant in California called O!burger seems to think so, and they're not talking cold sub sandwiches either. Burgers, fries, and shakes make up a good part of their menu, along with veggie burgers, yogurt smoothies, and salads.

Their main claim to fame (and health) is that they're 100% organic and striving to be eco-friendly in every way they can. They do have a healthy sounding veggie burger made of spinach and corn, but no mention of fat grams or calories. Is being organic enough to make such a broad claim like "healthy?" Unfortunately I don't live in the area and can't go try it for myself but if you do then give it a shot and let us know what you think!

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Daily Fit Tip: How to eat out and be healthy on a budget

Love to eat out but hate the damage it does to your diet? The "While Lie" scale (shown here) will show your weight as lower and lower the farther back on the scale you stand, while the "Half Truth" scale puts the weight of truth in the hands of another person because you can't see the scale numbers yourself. And finally, the "Open Secret" scale transmits your weight to a mobile phone so you get the news later from someone else.

What do you think? I think the fact that these were even invented says something about how messed up our relationship with scales is!

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
