Movie Theaters Exempt From New Calorie-Counting Rule

The federal government proposed new rules on Friday requiring chain restaurants and other food service businesses to inform their consumers about calorie counts. They will have to post calorie counts on menus and menu boards.
However, movie theaters have been exempt from this rule after objections from many companies. While a large popcorn and soda can clock in at as many calories as a person needs in an entire day, movie theaters will not be required to let people know that daunting fact.
The government is trying fight obesity by having these restaurants post calorie info. Do you think it will help?
I don't go to movies... but information is great anywhere.
NO! I know what's bad for me. I dont need to know HOW bad it is. LOL.
I didn't know that. The theaters where I live have that info. They even have a low calorie meal that comes with a pedometer lol.

YES definitely - I would like to know - I am a weight watcher and am going to the movies tonight!

Of course! If restaurants have to post the information I don't see why movie theaters shouldn't have to. It's food for public consumption. Especially food that can easily cause weight gain and health problems when consumed regularly.

I think the same rule should apply as restaurants - chain theaters such as Clearview or United Artists should be required to post, while local mom and pop theaters or art houses shouldn't. I think it should also apply to chain food suppliers who vend in other sports and entertainment venues, same as they would have to post in a mall. I'm not familiar with where the law stands on that.
