Do You Believe Taco Bell Serves 'Real' Meat?

Taco Bell is responding to the class action lawsuit filed in January for false advertising about its meat. The fast food chain is fighting to withhold its reputation with a commercial stating that its meat is actually 88 percent beef and 12 percent "signature recipe."

The commercial features real Taco Bell employees certifying that their employer's meat is authentic -- even with the 12 percent of seasoning and "other ingredients" signature recipe. While the lawsuit still claims Taco Bell's meat is only 35 percent beef, which means it cannot be advertised as "beef," the company is doing its best to fire back.

Never mind the statistics, the concept of a major meat fast-food chain being sued for selling fake meat is definitely unsettling. Find out if our readers believe Taco Bell's meat is "real" or not.

I've actually tried making Taco Bell recipes at home with "secret" recipes found online and they taste just the same. Odds are it's just ground beef marinated in the seasoning mix which can be made from things out of the pantry for the most part. I have friends who work at Taco Bell and the only thing they dislike about the meat is that it comes to the stores flash frozen so the very first customers of the day end up eating leftovers from last night and the last customers of the night eat beef from the start of the day.

I'm sure much of their meat is actually flavored soybeans. Taco Tico is MOSTLY soybeans mixed with beef fat and flavorings.

NO. I wouldn't eat at taco bell. I can make my own version at home. Healthier, and I know what's in in. I wish I could enjoy it like most people do, but I don't believe its real meat. LOL And at 99 cents or less, you get what you pay for. I don't wanna know what's in it. Thank you.........

Come on people...Do you really believe there is ANY truth in ANY advertiseing? From autos to food labels to Realtors, Lawyers, Doctors,POLITICIANS, Retairs, Wholesalers, Your spouse ( how much of what you see is Nip & Tuck or Bosley ). All that really matters is Do you like the taste? Personally I love it.

I would never eat at taco bell, because I think they are very dirty. One time I stood and watched them working at least 4 to 5 servers put food on your food, without gloves or using sanitary wipes. I told manager he told me to leave. I even saw a server use a mop, then started putting food on food to be served, without washing hands. Told health board nothing was done, so I just don't eat there.

I eat Taco Bell if I'm feeling constipated or I have death wish that day. I would eat White Castle before Taco Bell and I'm not really fond of White Castle either.I've always referred to Taco Bell as "Imitation Mexican Food". As for their beef my guess is it's either 50/50 or 60/50(filler/meat). But to each his own.

they have false info commerical ads and tv, they show 1/2 stack of hamburger on the end of the taco shell and when you order at the stores it looks like there is only a teaspoon when you get the taco on the end . where's the beef? I don't know about the beef, I know there is some kind of mix in it.it shows have beef/ have lettuce and half cheese in the ads on tv but that is not what it is when you get it.

i am just glad it is not cat or dog, it has always been good, so i will continue eating it , but with all this fuss for some reasom it did not taste the same last night, the fuss has caused them to do somethng different. and i worried it would.

Worked for Taco Bell for 8 years. During that time, we consistantly had to pull cardboard, cow hide with hair still attached, bones, and other foreign objects from the prepackaged meat that was shipped to the store. When you went to the dumpster to dump trash and leftover food, it reeked of a chemical odor that always made me wonder just exactly what we were serving the customers.
