I tried it ONCE. Without doubt, the worst beer I have ever tried (well maybe Narragansett was worse). Never again.
As a nationally recognized expert in weight loss, Licensed Psychotherapist, author of "The Anderson Method", and committed guilt-free beer drinker, I am shocked that you didn't know about Select 55 at only 55 calories per beer! How can we trust AOL as a reliable source with this kind of gaffe?
I agree with those above who say.. you drink beer, REAL BEER for two reasons.. flavor and to get "relaxed".. If you can't afford the extra calories then perhaps you should NOT drink beer at all rather than encourage the market for TRASH beer! I've only had one "light" beer that was reasonable.. Amstel Light and that was only tolerable without anything really good to say about it, .. only NO bad characteristics.
Again, if you have to worry about the friggin' calories in your beer, don't drink it, .. drink seltzer instead.
How anyone can drink what passes for beer in this country is beyond me. First, the basic brew is made from the cheapest ingredients possible. Then it's boiled which removes the carbon dioxide produced by natural fermentation. Then it's either concentrated for shipment elsewhere or water added to produce light beer. Finally, it's re-carbonated and packaged for consumption by we stupid Americans who apparently love to drink this cheap swill.
No Thanks! I only drink imported beer that I know has not been degraded, and is as natural as possible. Sorry, but no American rat piss for me.
First of all there are several imported beers that meet the same poor standards you speak of. Second of all there are 1500 different breweries in the US, you are obviously drinking the wrong beers. There are small micro/craft breweries that make innovative, delicious, creative, and traditional beers that are full of flavor and they don't use cheap ingredients. Third the waterering down you are talking about is only the macro breweries making their light beers. Not all breweries do this. Fourth all wort has to be boiled. Every brewery does this for a couple reasons. One, to steralize, two this is when the hops and any other ingredients like herbs or spices can be added. The wort has to be brought to a boil in order to extract the hop oils. Oh and at this point in the process there is no co2 in it anyway. The little bit of carbonation that does come from fermentation isn't much which is why co2 is added or sometimes there are bottle conditioned beers. Or there is bottle conditioned beer which is unfiltered with yeast left in it and a secondary fermentation starts in the packaging. I strongly suggest you do some reasearch before making a comment like this. www.craftbeer.com is a good place to start.
Cheap American Beer (especially Budweiser) will only give you the headache and stomach upset you all have been accustomed to for far too long. Bud Select 55 is toilet water and anyone who says it is good is an absolute moron who wouldn't know good beer if they were hit over the head with it! Germany and other European nations have purity laws to protect the consumer from chemicals and substandard materials and for those of you who have been to Europe, you know that what is served there is not sent here (Heineken only exports there garbage beer unfit for their own consumption and you ca taste the difference). American beers are not true beers and are chemically enhanced so it can be pasteurized (boiled), concentrated and shipped else where to add polluted water at the bottling plant far from where the beer was manufactured. Anyone who has tasted a Coors beer in Colorado and then tasted one in Philadelphia can tell you how drastic the taste difference is just because of the change in water let alone the fact that Coors shipped Philadelphia was boiled first and has to be reconstituted with inferior water. Drink real beer if you want to enjoy a good beer and drink your diet beers if you like the taste of toilet water.
