Dukan Diet: Would You Try It?

The Dukan Diet has been around for decades but has only recently entered the English market. Some are even labeling it "the fad diet of 2011." Devised by Dr. Pierre Dukan, a French medical doctor whose book will be available in May, the diet plan mandates the exclusion of many foods, mostly carbohydrates. When Kate Middleton's mom used the Dukan Diet to lose weight for her daughter's royal wedding, her motto was: no carbs, no problem.

The diet is composed of four stages. During the third, you add two slices of bread, one portion of fruit and cheese and two servings of carbohydrates back into your daily diet. This means that they are out of the picture in phases one and two.

For those looking to lose weight quickly, this diet may be effective. However, as Dr. David L. Katz reported in The Huffington Post, "Cockamamie cut-foods-out-then-add-them-back-then-cut-them-out diets are not about health. They are not about a healthy relationship with food. They are not about the long term."

Find out if our users would try The Dukan Diet and if they believe this is a realistic or healthy weight loss method.

It's never a good idea to lose weight fast. If people would only take the time to educate themselves about this...

Sure is not.

Neither healthy or realistic. Drastic carb cutting makes you lose water not fat.

If it's only to lose a quick 5 pounds for an event, like a wedding, for example, then I'd say sure. But anyone needing to lose a lot (say, more than 20) should go slow and easy.

I have tried just about every other diet so I would consider it. LOL!

Diets don't work. That's why they call them diets; they end and so does the weight loss. Try to eat and live a healthy lifestyle to see tremendous results.
