It's always hard to eat well when you're on the road -- but it's certainly not impossible. For example, my family and I brought our own food on vacation this summer. We rented an apartment for the week, and we drove out, bringing groceries along. Every morning, we had our favorite breakfast of cereal and bread, and we bought some excellent local jam from a nearby farm. For lunch, we made sandwiches with local veggies to complement our turkey and cheese. One day, we passed a bakery, so we got delicious loaves of just-baked bread, which added flavor to our breakfasts and lunches. For dinner, we had chicken, local fish, and, as a special treat, lean sirloin steaks. It was a wonderful week of eating all around.
But what if you're at a hotel for a week? Here are some tricks to help you stay fit while traveling.
