Shocking Ad Links Fast Food and Death
Posted on Oct 20th 2010 12:00PM by Hilary Walke
A provocative new anti-fast-food commercial produced by the nonprofit Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine has drawn attention to the link between heart disease and fast food. The commercial, which takes place in a morgue, targets McDonald's high-fat menu. PCRM's goal is to give Washington D.C. residents an idea of the city's numerous fast-food restaurants and high rates of heart disease deaths.
"Our city's addiction to Big Macs and other high-fat fast food is literally breaking our hearts," Susan Levin, PCRM's nutrition education director, said in a statement. The nation's capitol has more McDonald's, Burger King, and KFC outlets per square mile than similarly populated cities.
We asked our readers: is this commercial a necessary eye-opener or is it over the top? See what they had to say when it comes to fast food and heart disease awareness.

Even with this, people still won't take it to heart and make changes.....

I've known more than one overweight and out of shape vegetarian. Not eating meat doesn't cut out all the sugar and fat... You don't have to eat meat or fast food to have high bp, high cholesterol, etc. The occasional fast food burger and fries won't kill anyone. It's only a problem if you eat it several days a week, every week.

It's a scared straight type of video, which is long over due! Besides fast food as well as junk food will KILL YOU so the video is true! They warn us about the alcohol, drugs, smoking, texting while driving it's about time they do fast food. It would be funny to see: "This is your ASS and this is your ASS after 25 years of eating Fast Food" In all seriousness it's a great idea!

Thanks for sharing this sad but true information. Let's eat right America.

It's way over the top! Anything can kill you ... just eat as healthy as you can. Splurge once in awhile... and live life . You're going to die somehow... geez. That commercial is not for the average person and the ones who do need it won't care anyway. Something in their life has to make them change! And it won't be that stupid commercial... and being a vegetarian doesn't always mean healthy and you won't die.

I totally agree Lori!! You make choices!!

Call me a meanie, but I'm in favor of the "shock factor". Sometimes it's the only way to get through to folks.
