"Personal Training With Jackie: Xtreme Timesaver Training" Review
Posted on Oct 18th 2010 2:00PM by Kristen SeymourThe DVD contains just one 30-minute workout, and as someone who normally sets aside 45 to 60 minutes for a tough workout, I was a bit concerned. I know Warner is tough, but would 30 minutes be enough time to get the workout I want from her?
Level of Difficulty
Intermediate to advanced -- easier, weight-free modifications are shown throughout the workout, or you can use heavier weights to increase the challenge.
Next-Day Soreness
Severe. There was much groaning upon sitting and standing.
Who's It For?
Warner's approach is no nonsense. It's a straight-up workout with challenging moves targeting multiple muscle groups, so as the title indicates, it's for someone seeking a tough workout in a short amount of time.

Where do I begin? I honestly think Warner's workouts are some of the best out there. The workout does a great job of hitting every major muscle group and working it until you're positively praying the minute is up and you can move on to the next move. Each move is quite manageable (at least until you reach total muscle fatigue), and Warner does an excellent job of offering tips on posture and technique, both to make it harder and to make it a bit easier. She has two assistants with her, one doing the advanced version and one doing the no-weight modifications, so really, this DVD could work for almost anyone with a fairly basic level of fitness.
And as I've said before, I think Warner's attitude is right on the money, and that goes a long way toward whether or not I want to rewatch a DVD. She pushes you, for sure, but she's just as quick to tell you you're doing a great job and always reminds you of the rewards you'll reap from her workouts. Heck, just her crazy abs will remind you of that!
Dislikes
You know what I would have loved? If the DVD had offered two 30-minute workouts to give a bit more variety. But, hey, I'll take just the one. I really have no complaints.
Bottom Line
The mix of strength training and cardio in this DVD means you'll get a serious workout without spending hours at the gym. The workout is fast-paced, the music is enjoyable, and when you consider the fact that Warner charges up to $400 an hour for her workouts, getting a 30-minute workout for just $12.99 is an amazing bargain. I recommend this DVD wholeheartedly.
