A walk in the sun everyday could keep the doctor away, according to a study from Finnish researchers that suggests vitamin D can help prevent the common cold.

Results showed that men who were given a daily vitamin D supplement every day for six months used less sick days from work than those participants who took placebo pills during the experiment.

Led author Dr. Ilkka Laaksi says that previous studies on the vitamin have shown its power to boost the body's immune system to fight respiratory illness.
